That’s when they generally start having connection issues. Mine were pristine for 2 years until they weren’t. I never wore my APM’s outside at all besides the airport and they’re just awful at connecting now.
Ugh I hope mine are ok. Had them for over a month. Have a few days to add AppleCare yet. They were at Best Buy for $399. So not terrible.

You might be okay. No one knows what the actual prevalence of the connection problem is. Some people have had theirs since launch day without issues. It’s just that a lot of people are reporting connection issues.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is sharing some last-minute predictions tonight regarding what we can expect to see at tomorrow's "It's Glowtime" Apple event, and in addition to his claim that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 only appears to be getting a new black color option with no third-generation model being introduced, he believes we will be seeing updated AirPods Max headphones.

In line with his previous reporting about the new AirPods Max, Gurman says the updated models will include improved audio performance in the form of better active noise cancellation and new adaptive audio features, while the headphones will switch from Lightning to USB-C.
In line with his previous reporting? Would that be the reporting from last Friday where he said no new AirPods Max at the September 9 event?

New versions of the AirPods Max and Apple TV may not debut at Apple's upcoming "It's Glowtime" event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman today suggested.

In a report detailing some final expectations for the September 9 Apple event, Gurman said that the company is still working on a new version of the ‌AirPods Max‌ with new color options and a USB-C port instead of Lightning. This product refresh has been rumored for some time, but with plenty of ‌AirPods Max‌ inventory still in stock, Gurman suggested that the new model may not arrive until later.

Covering his behind so he'll be correct no matter what. No new AirPods Max? He's correct based on last Friday's reporting. New AirPods Max? He's correct based on this reporting.

If only I could get that in an all digital connection like I do in Beats Studio Pro through a USB-C USB-C cable connected to iPhone 15, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, ... with only a single cable!

Partly while I like my Beats Solo 4 (even though they are far from perfect!)

Don’t know how it comes across on the Studio Pro but I have noticed they sound “better” when I stream music from my MacBook Pro and use either YouTube/Tidal compared to Apple Music 🤷🏻‍♂️ (fully appreciate Bluetooth isn’t truly “lossless”.)

You are questioning what people are doing with theirs and yet you are on your (about) fifth pair? I would actually ask you what you are doing with it that you go through so many pairs. LOL
AirPods Max comes in five colors, so maybe that’s why they bought five pairs.

Seriously, what the hell are you guys doing with your AirPods Max?

I've owned about five different pairs over the years. Not a single one had a condensation issue.
Woah. Did you buy all the color options?

It would be gobsmackingly brain-dead for Apple to take one of the oldest high end products in the catalog and do nothing with it beyond making it USB-C.

So, actually completely on brand for Tim Cook's Apple actually.

Task 100s of engineers to work on enhancements to Vision Headset nobody wants and they can't sell instead.

You've got to think these have been ready to go for ages.

They definitely hold things back to pad out the events when they know the latest iPhone/Watch is going to be minute update.

My battery on my pair I've used for nearly 8 hours daily since 2021 is finally getting to be pretty poor - so I'm deciding between this or the Bose QuietComfort Ultra for my refresh.

Don't let me down Tim:cool:

This sounds right and also seems due. H2 and same improvements in audio and all the noise cancellation modes plus USB-C. That sounds exactly like what to expect.

After my AirPods Max died suddenly out of warranty, hard pass. Reddit is filled with similar stories. They sounded great though… while they lasted.

Anyone else remember when Gurman reported last October that in 2024...

"...the ‌AirPods Max‌ will see the inclusion of a USB-C port for charging purposes instead of a Lightning port, and Apple will also debut new colors. No other notable features are expected at this time."

Dude really believed Apple was going to wait 4 years to refresh the AirPod Max lineup and then only offer a new port and colors 🤣

Moral of the story: ALWAYS take rumors with a healthy helping of salt
I get Macrumors needs material for the clicks, but this Gurman guy.......................

We've got to infer the sales on the APM are on HomePod 1 levels of bad, for it to take this long for a refresh...

If they don’t address the biggest issue with the first gen, just how heavy and massive these freaking things are, I can’t see them really taking off.

I’m a big, 6’5”, 215 lbs dude that finds my first gen Maxes to be sooo heavy and fatiguing. When you move or turn your head, you feel the mass of these things and their initerial resistance. I’m all for pretty things, Apple, with nice materials, but not at the expense of comfort and usability. Get back to the lab and use materials that are much, much lighter

Wow that was sad, just color updates and usb-c. Those who got the Best Buy sale for 399 got a great deal and steal considering the new color ones cost 550.

I wonder when version 2 will actually come out

Well it’s clear they didn’t really put much effort into this basic refresh. Pfff. Wake me up when they take comfort seriously and release a legit gen 2

Seriously-- almost 4 years later, zero changes internally other than the port? Bonkers.

I wish they’d shrink the cups down a bit, or find a way to offer different sizes. I loved the sound on V1 but couldn’t get a good seal and had a ton of bleed thanks to a smaller head. Returned them and grabbed QC Ultras instead. My only device out of the ecosystem…
I have a small head and the headphones slip off all the time. I love the sound isolation but now my husband has been enjoying them. I switched to Bose QC 45, lighter but not as good of a noise isolation.

Gurman has to constantly type things otherwise people may forget he has a PowerOn newsletter. And, as he’s rightly found that regardless of what he types, nothing gets held against him, there’s literally no downside to just saying whatever’s on his mind. ;)
