All they need is a killer function. To me: hand writing recognition, computing like a limited laptop, art creation via stylus. If this was a hyper iPod Touch with art/handwriting and iWork apps... utter, overwhelming, win.
Somehow I doubt it. They will probably sell a $600-$800 enhanced iPod Touch with better gaming and perhaps better data entry for some work apps. To me, such a tablet would be worth $499, but not more.
Tablet = Fail
They have never taken off. If they price it to around $400 bucks, that would generate better sales........maybe.
Yes, yes, and they NEVER will, because new products NEVER work. I remember the automobile...what a FAILURE.
And now for the serious part: if this tablet works as more of a computer than a media player, it WILL succeed.
The netbook market is for people who want another computer, but want something small. It doesn't make sense for most people to pay $1k+ on a small laptop when all its going to be used for is internet and email. It fits great into a bag and you barely notice it.
I totally agree. 90% of the market doesn't NEED or WANT a super computer, but a media device, net browser, emailer, game player, simple picture/video editor perhaps, chat/comm device, document reader, simple data applications like iWork.
The iPod Touch is already close to the power of a 10 year old iBook. With the extra space behind the screen on a tablet, Apple can jam in enough power and storage to make something close to a 6 year old iBook with better graphics/video capability.
