I'm glad Apple listened to me.

I was pretty much the very first person to report this major problem to Apple by sending in the two videos that I posted on YouTube months ago. Even got a reply from the engineering team.

:)

It was a group effort. Apple would not have changed a thing if only few people complained. The movement will be stronger if there are more people trying to make the movement.

Obviously if the animations are too slow for you it's because your reflexes are too fast. I'm sure I read a quote from Apple to that affect. :p

Wait until you become an old fart like me, then it's just right.

I wish it were truly system wide -- as in dissolving with every action such as multitasking and going back/forth pages as well. I think it's much more elegant and clean as well, which goes with the new "modern look".

Can you turn motion off completely?
Dissolve is massively better though

I would also like to be able to turn the animations off completely. But at least the dissolve effect is acceptable. Now if they could only do the same thing for OS X...

Thank god. Now when I unlock my phone all the apps aren't "flying" onto the screen. MUCH, MUCH better.

I hope that all upcoming updates will be like 7.0.3 :) love that I'm able to disable the animation feature :)

It does for me when that .5 second delay accumulates to 600x a day. You just have low standards for performance. To me, it was completely unacceptable as at the end day these devices are just tools to me and I want them to work as quickly as possible, not have pretty but useless animations.

I don't think I have low standards for performance at all. I use my phone quite heavily all day, every day. To suggest otherwise because of a half second delay due to animations to me, speaks volumes.

My point is our expectations with all the advancements in technology we've seen are obviously getting out of hand with statements like yours. By your calculations, you are losing 5 mins of productivity in a day due to the animations. I question whether or not you really are losing that much time. That would mean that for every single action, your brain and fingers react instantaneously which I just don't see as feasible.

Let me be clear, I'm not arguing against getting rid of the animations to speed up the use of the device (and for those few who it made sick). I think it's good that they got rid of them although it's too bad that they don't offer them piece by piece (parallax vs. zoom in/out). I personally like the zoom in/out effect but could do without parallax and would've liked the option to turn on one while keeping the other off. However, you don't see me crying to the heavens over it's lack of features, even if it is form rather than function.

I think the relation between the level of complaint in this instance vs the real-world implications aren't warranted. Saying that level of delay is "completely unacceptable" is overkill. It's not like you're waiting 10 seconds with the spinner going for an app to open up.

The problem is not the animation, but the delay after it finishes is what irritates me. Example when you double click home button and then tap to go back to home screen, if you swipe too soon, as soon as the animation is done it just won't move right away. The same with settings, if you swipe to go back too soon, it won't budge and also when you swipe too soon after you unlock your screen. It just feels everything is not real time interaction. It would be better if you can swipe your screen even when the animation is not done yet. Just like it was on iOS 6.

When I tap on an icon, I expect something to happen instantaneously. Not that it's life or death, but it's my expectation, regardless of the platform. We didn't have these issues prior to iOS 7, why introduce it now? Does the animation or fraction of a second wait serve us any benefit?

If nothing else, it's awkward.
