Apple Arcade is set to lose 15 games in the near future, according to a new section in the Arcade area of the App Store titled "Leaving Arcade Soon."

The following games are listed in the new section, which allows Arcade subscribers to download the games while they are still available, without specifying when they will be gone.
  • [*]Projection: First Light
    [*]Lifeslide
    [*]Various Daylife
    [*]EarthNight
[*]Atone: Heart of the Elder Tree
    [*]Over the Alps
    [*]Dread Nautical
    [*]Cardpocalypse
  • Towaga: Among Shadows
  • Dead End Job
  • Don't Bug Me!
  • Spelldrifter
  • Spidersaurs
  • Explottens
  • BattleSky Brigade: Harpooner

This isn't the first time Apple has removed a title from Arcade, but it has not previously officially revealed which games are leaving and in such large numbers.

As noted by MacRumors sister site TouchArcade, Apple doesn't explain what happens to the games that are exiting the service, leaving players unsure about what will happen to their save data. Whether the games will transition to a premium or free release, or be delisted altogether, is also unclear.

Apple Arcade‌‌ is priced at $4.99 per month, and it includes more than 200 new and original gaming titles. All of the games are free to play with no additional in-app purchases or payments required. Up to six family members can share a single ‌‌Apple Arcade‌‌ subscription through Apple's Family Sharing features.

Not that I played / heard of any of these, but do they at least give u the option to buy them to transfer your saved game score? Imagine u played game XY for xy hours and then it’s gone just like that

Arcade games are distinct app bundles, so if the same game transitioned to being non-AA it would appear as a completely separate app in your home screen.

That said, the devs have the possibility to share data between apps - so you could "copy over" your progress, if they made that available.

This is a slap to those Apple Music users who claims Apple never deletes a title you enjoy, and a major reason why old model of “owning software package” still has its merit.

Granted, I never heard about those titles, but given this precedent, I’ll much less likely bother about Apple Arcade in the future.

It turns out that if you want people to pay money for games, you need good quality games. When Apple is serious about AAA games, then Apple Arcade can take off.
Indeed. The lineup has been really weak. The one intriguing aspect was them paying developers to fix up and bring back old games that stopped working several iOS versions ago, but I've not really seen enough of that.

Gosh, a lot of Apple Arcade hate here.

It's not AAA games for the most part, but there are quite a few games I liked. Fantasian, Outlanders, Oregon Trail, Bloons TD 6, Angry birds, mini moto, Oceanhorn, and No Way Home were all games I enjoyed a lot.
Of course. No AAA games and Apple expects you to pay for it. Every month.

BTW, I'd love Apple buying licenses for _very old_ games and adding these in Arcade. I am thinking about Lode Runner, Dark Castel, Frogger (the original, not a 3D "enhanced" version of it), Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, Snake Byte. Big pixels, simple rules, lots of fun. (I understand that the current generations will not play these, but there are probably still enough old things like my-self to make it a category in Arcades).

I think the Arcade is good value for the money.

It's never aimed for dozens of AAA games, but there are quite a few really good ones. I also really like that there's plenty of kid friendly games without a tonne of ads or mtx..

Sounds good to me also, they should try this approach along with also releasing new games.

Yeah went to play some old 1920’s music albums I’ve been listening to for over a year the and they deleted them. What?!? If it’s politically incorrect Music just put a disclaimer on it. Ugh o_O

I was thinking this wasn't something that happened on Apple Arcade. Too bad. Especially since no info is given on if the games will be available outside of Apple Arcade.

Microsoft also throws out games from their Xbox Gamepass service, but I do think it's possible to buy them outside the the Game Pass service.

Makes me think even more that one should use the DRM free service GOG to buy games. But no iPhone/iPad/tvOS games there of course.

I also love playing the games that are part of Apple Arcade which don't have ads, in-app purchases/gems/coins and quite often have controller support which my kids and I love(d) to play. I only had it for a couple of months but thinking of getting it again due to the high quality games that are included in it. The amount of games in Arcade is limited (254) but the quality of most of them is pretty good.

We really like(d):

Adventure / Platformers:
- Little Orpheus
- Oddmar+
- Leo's Fortune+
- Rayman Mini
- Oceanhorn 2
- Alba: A Wildlife Adventure

Various:
- Outlanders
- Zen Pinball Party

MMO / Brawl / Fighting:
- Disney Melee Mania
- LEGO Star Wars Battles
- LEGO Brawls
- LEGO Star Wars: Castaways
- Butter Royale

Racing:
- Asphalt 8: Airborne+
- Agent Intercept
- Detonation Racing
- Speed Demons
- Sonic Racing

Sports:
- Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis
- Charrua Soccer
