I want to give the toggle off/on thing a go, but am afraid of what happens with my Apple Card Daily Cash. Don’t the two need to be on for cash back to work? I realize it would only be off for a second, but I’m still weary.

Well you could also just wait. Mine updated all by itself, so if yours hasn’t yet you can be sure it will eventually.

If this unlikely issue is all you have to worry about, you are in good shape; otherwise you seem to be worrying about the wrong things.

Just did it this morning, toggled off then back on. Didn’t lose a single penny of my balance.

I want a Visa Apple credit Card also—because Visa is more widely accepted internationally, than MasterCard is. And with Apple having no foreign transaction fees, it would be perfection!
As is the Apple Cash card now. Unbeknownst to many, along with the re-branding to visa Green Dot Bank also eliminated the 3% foreign transaction fee that existed when Apple Cash was on Discover.

I think that’s more a function of Visa than Green Dot. I know several Visa Debit cards that don’t charge foreign transaction fees. In fact, I’m not aware of any that do (although I obviously can’t speak for all of the hundreds of different banks that use Visa debit, so who knows… maybe some do ??‍♂️)

Yeah I know. I didn’t mean to say it was green dot’s doing, just that the removal of the fee came along with the rebranding to Visa, and people might not be aware of this since they’d need to have read the Terms and conditions on green dot’s website to know that.

Wonder if this is preparation for going international. Visa is much more widely used around the world I think.
Man don’t tease like that!

Considering this article as so many others never state it’s offered in Issa only, I’m not certain international is yet considered by Apple.

But there is news Apple is wanting to be an official FinTech merchant so who knows.

Even the title is misleading: ‘New Apple Cash Accounts Now Branded as Visa Cards’. In reality it’s new and existing accounts, not just the new ones: mine dates all the way back to December 2017 and was rebranded as visa last Tuesday (4/19).

Not necessarily. To go international with Apple Cash what they need is a bank partner in each country where they wish to expand it to. The rebranding of the existing Apple Cash card to Visa, along with the elimination of the 3% foreign transaction fee that existed when it was Discover (another recent change that many might not be fully aware of), are of benefit only to US users, by making it easier for them to make purchases abroad using the virtual card.

I am afraid to deactivate it with cash in it. But I am really happy for this change. I tried using it at 7-11 one time and it wouldn’t work and realized because it’s discover. Visa will make things easier and accepted.

Well other people have said they did it and didn’t lose a penny. But if you don’t want to, just wait it out. It’ll change automatically at some point. Mine did last Tuesday 4/19.

Do note that when you toggle that switch in settings you’re not closing your Apple Cash account, you’re just disabling it on that specific device.

I deactivated/reactivated mine, and all my cash returned with the reactivation & my new VISA—you’ll be fine and won’t lose a penny. ?

I feel for you guys in the US. What antiquated systems you have to put up with. Careful when you leave the gas station, you don't want a dinosaur to step on you...
It's not uncommon to encounter a US business (usually a small one) that still requires a signature when you use a card in your iPhone wallet. That seems to make no sense.

You don't know what you're talking about. Yet to see a place anywhere in the world that accepts Visa but doesn't accept MC. However with Discover and Amex.... you know.

I get declines sometimes at 7-eleven and other merchants when I try to use Apple Cash, and I'm thinking now that it might mean that the merchant just didn't take Discover. Look forward to trying again.
