I don't know, I still think the MacBook Pro right now is really appealing, in terms of its combination of size and weight (especially relative to things like the almost 7 pound Asus G1S) and performance (since the 8600M GT with GDDR3 memory is still pretty much tops). Plus the LED-backlit screens.

But I assume there's something about it that doesn't fit your needs, since I saw you say Apple hasn't given you anything that gives you a reason to buy a Mac.
I wasn't very pleased with how the MacBook Pro turned out back in June.

Remember the posts about the 8600M GT as well? I know you were there. :p

15.4" and dent prone doesn't sound like fun to me either. I take care of my hardware but anything seems to dent the case.

So I think there's something to be said for the dedicated custom gaming PC and a laptop for other typical stuff.
Which is why I have two options for Apple hardware. :p

You know people have hacked the new os allready in a computer.i dont know if it's any good..but hey a cool idea...
by the way people allways want new cool useful gadgets thats what the ranting's fore..and if the products is rumored to satifies some "mac" needs, the ranting gets higher/louder...
Not my style to turn a XPS M1330 into a MacBook.

my LEA (local education authority) are giving me the money. They stumped up £1100 for my iMac also.:p

Good luck with the studies.

The only people not to buy them would be individuals content on switching to Mac's, and they're smart enough to realize that the GMA950 is wayy old and the MB needs better specs to compete.

I am a switcher and I am not even looking at PCs. But I do know, once again, that many will not pay $1300 for components that are more than 18 months old. Some people might, because it looks pretty, but the people that know better will wait. Or not upgrade their existing Macs.

Futureproof

Applecare makes Macbooks futureproof. Been through three hard drives, three batteries, a superdrive and a power kernal, all for free! Now I get to get the new macbook for free when it is released too. :) Woot for authorized replacement units.

Not terribly amusing but some of us do want the best value in our purchase.

The MacBook in its current state is reaching EOL and Apple normally updates their consumer laptops in the Fall given the events of past years.

Does anybody have any idea why The New York Times has put the old Macbook video on its frontpage?
http://nytimes.com/

The frame they used to preview the video shows a grey metallic Macbook!! (It's the blackbook with funny light )

I would upgrade to 2gb of Ram with the MacBook so can anyone tell me what the benefit of a pro would be. I will be using it for producing magazines and my website.

You can find several discussions of MB vs MBP in this forum. I think there's even a guide at the top about the topic.

Customise a Macbook on the apple store, the Santa Rose revisions go up to 4GB, in all Apple shops now.
Yes the upgrade has been brought out.
