What do you think this means for trackpads?

My baby Powerbook only has the one, beautiful button... when the intel PBs come out, are they gonna have a little nub, and four buttons?

Maybe two buttons, but probably no "nub" because of the nice new scrolling features built into the trackpad.

my guess anyway.

Just created an order for a new iMac, and the Might Mouse is not noted anywhere as stock or even BTO????
C'mon, Apple. This needs to be the standard mouse shipping with your computers.

Dude, they just released it like 5 minutes ago.

DUH! I'm so used to the trackpad scrolling I totally forgot it existed! It's 2nd nature now, haha.

...that being said, I STILL WANT!
Even though I'm cool without right clicking, and I have hot corners activated... It's apple.. I want one..

*sip, sip* Man, is this a new flavor of Kool Aid today?

I hear that. Was gonna nab one until I saw there is no wireless option :( Seems strange to me that they didn't make a bluetooth version.

We would be complaining of how poor the battery life became with the BT version, in the mean time we can complain we don't have a BT mouse.

*to the corner and waits for the BT mighty thing*

Hmm, and the squeezable side "buttons" activate Dashboard, Expose, etc. Very nice to be able to have their own buttons without needing to program the normal 2 buttons for it. I just need to get to my local Apple Store to see how it really works and if I can stand to use it.

I can't believe Apple uses the entire front page of their web site to promote a stupid mouse with features that are just so standard and basic on any mouse and hype it like it's 1999.

Any of you have a 3rd gen iPod with 4 touch sensitive buttons on top. They look good but are just plain annoying to use. Sound is added only to not make it completely useless as the iPod is not responding in the instance you press a button. Without the sound you have no cue if you pressed the button or not. Adding sound to the mouse is just to make an inferior technology (usabilitywise) barely usable.

Mighty Milk

Now in a supermarket near you fresh Migthy Milk contained in a soft white plastic bag. Squeeze it anywhere to spill your milk. Can also be used in Cocoa. Holy cow!

Nevermind, just noticed someone already mentioned the sound and another poster made a good point about why it would have it...

Actually, I am just gonna get one. As soon as the BT version comes out I'll give the cable one to my mum. :D

Looks good, another reason not to hate Macintosh computers, at this rate what will the PC brigade have left to whine about...? ;) ;) ;) ;) :D

Seriously, I'd buy one if I didn't use the PowerBook all the time, I might let my daughter have one for the eMac though.

Someone mention hell and the unseasonable weather?

Exactly. My bro has a BT mouse and battery life is not the best - laser diodes are hard on batteries. It's just one more thing to worry about. Anyway, I have little doubt that a wireless version of this gadget will come msoon enough.

I'm totally impressed with the design; I never thought they'd be able to blend the single shell look with multi-button goodness. I wanna try it out.

Hate the name, love the mouse. For a PowerBook or iBook, I never saw the need for a wireless mouse, (well, not much anyway), and wired mice from other manufacturers aren't in keeping with the styling of the apple portable range I feel, so this mouse is perfect.

I just can't get over it sounding like that cheesy cartoon character from when I was younger.

I think the laptop thing could be done easily. scrolling is already there, and as for multiple buttons, apple could keep the single button and use the same touch sensitive technology to determine which side of the click bar you are clicking. heck, they could even have it detect when you click with multiple fingers and use that as even more buttons. done and done

I'll follow you really soon...

Man, despite all that always was said about Apple and the need for just one button mouse, they really twist the established foundations and starts a new revolution!

Oh Man... It's very good to have joined Mac Side of the Force!!

Where are you guys finding this? Can't seem to find anything about sound.

Nevermind...found it. I hope there's a way to turn the sound off!

That picture from dashbaord is so funny. I am physically trying to restrain my laughter here at work.

It's also nice they made it look like a one button mouse and that you can always change it back to one too. Touch sensitive though, I think I'll have to try before I buy.

Yeah yeah.........c'mon at least they got more than one button that was a very big step for apple :p

You know, if this had showed up several years ago it would have been more well received. It has all the features you need for a scrolling mouse and a little more - but now its all about wireless. I don't get it.

I'm going to go and play with one the next time I'm in an Apple store, but I don't think I'll buy one until they make it wireless.

D

Hold up.

No Mighty Mouse in Australia?

No Mighty Mouse anywhere in Asia? Don't they build these things in Taiwan? Stupid American business....

Gonna check that weird, semi-official New Zealand Apple Store.
