As much as I wanted to believe the rumors about the Eastern Shore location, it's pretty obviously not going to happen, or at least not anytime soon. After getting over to the Summit in Birmingham a few weeks ago for the first time, it seems a lot more Apple's speed. More of its usual neighbors and such. I know Birmingham was one of the original advertised job locations, so I wonder why they changed their minds.

I agree that the Summit in B'ham would be a great location. At this point, though, I don't think that there's any available retail space. However, I've was noticing some grading in progress on the west side of Summit Blvd. the other day, and I wonder if it's in preparation for a Summit expansion.

Also, what we need to remember about ESC is that it is only about 57% leased currently.

That, combined with the comments made by the developers that they plan to expand to 1mil sq. ft. eventually (at opening it'll be 550,000), does keep it around as a possibility for the future...maybe one of those "mini" stores we've heard about.

Yeah, I think that is for the final phase of the Summit's expansion. Purportedly, a high-end boutique hotel will anchor this phase.

Apple's job website is now listing job openings for the St. Louis Galleria and the Miami Beach - Lincoln Road stores. This means it is likely that both stores will open in the Jan.- Feb. 2005 timeframe. No listings yet for the Jacksonville, Florida store, but the Jacksonville Business Journal has already reported a March 2005 opening in the St. John's Center.

I've been watching for it, wdlove. No sign yet, but there have been rumors of a Philly flagship store and the new Miami Beach location seems ideal for a flagship operation. I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I see anything.

Totally unhelpful to you, wdlove, but ifoAppleStore is reporting a new flagship location in Nagoya, Japan. This would be the third store in Japan.

A store in Nagoya seems a poor choice at this time. I would think they would go further--e.g., Hiroshima or Fukuoka to place a standard store. People from that area must travel a very long way.

I will have to take your word for it that this store is ill advised. I haven't a clue about location issues for Apple stores in Japan. It does sound as if Apple is making a commitment to expand sales in Japan, and that does make a lot of sense.

In going over the "drop down" menu on Apple's site, it looks as if there will be a third Maryland store, very close to the Montgomery Mall store, in Bethesda Row. No job listings yet for this or the Jacksonville, Florida store.

i just don't get Apple's retail store plans. When i went California this summer there was an Apple store everywhere i turned. There were even 2 stores in a 5 mile radius. I wish Apple would evently distribute there stores. These stores need to be where people gather and dont know what Apple offers.

NEW ORLEANS, NEW ORLEANS, NEW ORLEANS, NEW ORLEANS

Still waiting for some Apple stores in Canada. I just like posting that every few months to keep this thread alive... ;)

Of course if they did launch any stores here it would be in the larger centers (Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, etc.) which wouldn't help me out much as far as accessibility goes, but at least there would be something for us Canadians!

and london...

i heard there's gonna be an apple store in london too at the end of the year.
great news for me atleast, i think thats gonna be the first in europe not?

Hey now, listen, I might go around and say "eh" a lot, but I have never said "aboot", nor misspelled my nationality. :p ;)

And it's good to see you back in the forums, thatwendigo - haven't seen much of you lately...

I have little love for the way the same tired, misleading statements are hashed over and over again. I've been off doing my own little thing - including changing jobs - and just decided to peek back in.

We'll have more to talk about in less than a week, I'd wager.

I think that you deserve an Apple Store on Canada ~Shard~. Maybe its in negotiations along with the iTMS.

Good to hear you're keeping well old friend, and I hope the new job is working out for ya! Feel free to PM me if you want to chat any further...

And yes, I think we'll have lots of interesting topics to discuss in about a week, when the new iMacs are officially announced. Ah, I can just see all the "interesting" posts piling up right now, rife with complaints, inaccuracies and half-truths from people not knowing what they are talking about. What will be most amusing (frustrating?) is hearing from the hypocrites who have whined about the iMacs not having G5s, yet will whine again when the G5 iMac now magically still isn’t good enough because of <fill in the blank>. No need to worry though, with your attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge, coupled with my knowledge and bastardly tactics, we’ll set ‘em straight. ;)

But, back on topic – I’m still waiting for an Apple Store and iTMS up here! Hopefully soon...

I've always found it odd that Apple hasn't opened any stores in Canada (or at least have no public plans to do so). I've only been to Toronto once (but want to go back as soon as possible!! Such a great city!!) but it seemed like a perfect place for a plethera of stores. I think Apple would be fully embraced there.

I'm sure the first store in Canada will be in Toronto though, whenever that may be.

Ahhh...how I would love to go back to Toronto. Someday I'm sure.

Regina though, that's more central Canada, eh?

umm...that was a purely unintentional 'eh', but figured I'd leave it in because it made me laugh. I say 'eh' all the time, I must be Canadian at heart... ;)

Toronto is a very happening city, that’s for sure, however its concrete jungle gets a bit much, and the smog and overall environment always turned me off a little – just personal preference though. I’d take someplace in Alberta or BC, close to the Rockies any day. Of course, for the big city feel, Toronto ranks right up there, and I could see an Apple store doing quite well there. However, then when I think of big cities, it just can’t quite compare to other cities like New York, Sydney, etc. etc. for me. Again though, all just personal preference. ;)

I would say Toronto or Vancouver – Vancouver seems to have more of that “Think Different” mentality (maybe it’s a West Coast thing) than Toronto from my experience. Again, not saying it’s a bad thing, just my observations. I’ve always loved the West Coast though - although Vancouver is a huge city just like Toronto, it has the Pacific Ocean and the mountains nearby, and then if you head off to the Island the scenery is just beautiful – I’ve found rainforests there that beat out some of the places I’ve seen in New Zealand!

Yep, Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan in the heart of the Prairies, between Alberta and Manitoba. We’re right above Montana and North Dakota. Beautiful scenery, but you have to embrace extreme weather conditions – it can get down to -40 Celsius in the winter, and +35 or +40 Celsius in the summer!

I've never been to Vancouver, though I've wanted to go there for a long time, especially since I went to Toronto, I want to see how the cities differ.

It's funny, I live in Idaho but have never been to Vancouver which is roughly 510 miles from here, but I have been to Toronto which is about 1,820 miles.

Up here in Canada you just lose track of distances, and they're pretty meaningless at times. I'll think nothing of driving to Calgary, Alberta for a long weekend, and that's 475 miles from here, a good 7+ hour drive! Vancouver is 1115 miles away from me to the west, and Toronto is 1655 miles away from me to the east! Ah well, you get used to it when you live in the second largest country on Earth...

Check out Vancouver one of these days, I'm sure you'll like it - you'll especially like the area if you enjoy the outdoors, hiking, mountains, beaches, etc. etc. I can definitely give you some recommendations on where to go and what to do.

And if you ever pass through Regina (for some odd reason, don't know why you'd ever come here!) just let me know! ;)

I live in Idaho, if you don't enjoy the outdoors then there's absolutely no reason for you to be in this state. So, yeah, I love all those things...well, aside from beaches, never been a big fan of the "beach". It's great once in a while but I could never hang out on a beach every day of my life. :p Of course I don't exactly have that option in Idaho anyway. ;)

And you can be sure I'll get those recommendations from you when I head up there. Tentatively I'm planning on going up there for vacation in the first quarter of next year.

Maybe there'll be an Apple Store there by the time I go up there! ;)

I was never much of a beach person myself until I went to Australia a while back. Now I wish I had easier access to one! ;)

Very cool, you'll have to PM me and we can discuss things further when the time comes! If you head up there and love the outdoors though, you'll have to make it out to the Island as well. And yah, an Apple Store out there would be sweet - they could put it around Robson St., there would be some excellent locations right around there!

If Apple ever opens a store in Tulsa, OK I think my wife just might leave me :)

Chances are she will be at the Apple Store right along with her husband. It makes for enjoyment of a mutual love of Apple.
