wdlove,

I’m betting that Boston and DC both get stand alone flagship stores within the next two years. There are already rumors of a new store of this type in Philadelphia and the Lincoln Road store in Miami Beach may also be of this variety. Of course, this is just speculation, but it would make a lot of sense given the pattern of openings we have seen.

Thank you Sahey, that gives me a lot of encouragement. A time frame that won't be that hard to take. Just hope that they will still be using the brushed aluminum look by that time.

Apple has announced the opening date for its new Stoneridge Mall store in Pleasanton, California. In keeping with Apple's tradition of holding up news of these dates to the last week, they have announced that next weekend September 18th at 10:00 AM will see the grand opening of this store to the east of San Francisco Bay. All rumors point to a massive opening of up to ten stores the following weekend. Stay tuned!

Hey, wdlove, no problem! Good luck on the Boston area stores - let us know how the new Braintree store works out.

Thank you Sayhey, you are bring us luck here in the Boston area. Just checked there is a job opening for an "Inventory Control Specialist" for the South Shore Apple Store. Just checked again and found an opening for an assistant manager. How far ahead of the opening is this usually posted?

Danbury Store

After searching around it looks like the Apple Store at the Danbury Fair Mall is going to open October 15, 2004.

I'll definitely be there for the opening. As I was there for the opening of the Mall when it was first built :)

It usually takes 3-6 months from the first posting of jobs for a given store to the opening. However, ifoAppleStore has posted that South Shore is on the Sept.-October retail brochure list of stores. That would tend to say it will be open by the end of October. Because the first job listing for South Shore was on July 20th anything earlier than Oct. 20th would be at a record pace. Now Apple has said it will have a least 88 stores by the end of September and it looks like a big opening of multiple stores on Sept. 25th. We will see, but they should start opening soon for the holiday season.

criana, very good. May I ask where you got the date? If you have a good tip, send it over to Gary at ifoAppleStore and he will post it as well.

Thank you Sayhey. My wife and I will probably attend the opening of the new South Shore Mall Apple Store. Hopefully she won't have to work that weekend. That would be our third Apple Store opening. :)

We need another one in Georgia... we're a large state, both population- and land-wise. That one in Lenox does nothing for those of us in the southeast pocket... and there's not a good one in Florida close by. The mall in Albany could use one... there's alot of empty spaces.

If you're in southeast Georgia, the upcoming Jacksonville location should be an improvement.

New UK store in Birmingham

It looks like Apple has listed a new UK store on their "drop down" menu. This store looks to be in the Bullring area of Birmingham, England. I know absolutely nothing about the city or the area, so if any UK members could give us a clue it would be appreciated. There are no listings for jobs yet, so an opening date is hard to estimate. I'll keep an eye out for any clues.

Makes a lot of sense to put an Apple Store there. Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK and it's situated in the Midlands, a more accessible site for people across the country than London. The Bull Ring Centre is a massive shopping area that has been newly refurbished and receives a lot of traffic. It has also attracted a number of other high profile retailers such as Selfridges.

Apple please come back to Nashville, TN! I heard or read somewhere that they tried here early on but had some zoning problems or something with the store. Anybody know anything about that? Or when they are planning to come back?

Look at post#102 in this thread. The link I posted no longer works but the quote is accurate. No word yet on when they will come back to Nashville.

Great news about Apple store in Birmingham. The Bullring is a fantastic shopping centre, one of the largest in Europe I believe, plus only a half hour down the road from me! :)

Apple announced their Kansas City store will open on the Country Club Plaza Saturday Sept 25 at 10 am. I would be going except I have my daughter's birthday party that day.

Hmmm, I wonder if the kiddies would like a field trip? Don't they have a kids section at these stores?

Apple has announced the opening of the Country Club Plaza and Stonestown stores on Sept. 25th, both at 10:00 am in their respective time zones (Kansas City and San Francisco.) I see bbarnhart beat me on the Kansas City news, but at least I get to post the San Francisco news first. :D

This brings the total of stores up to 86, two shy of the 88 of that Apple announced will be opened by Sept. 30th. Time is running short, so look for new announcements soon.

Thanks Sayhey. Surely Al Gore can pull some strings here to get it done. I just wish it was sooner than later.

You should contact Al Gore on this matter. He may not even be aware of lack of Apple Stores in his home state.

I'm probably gonna head down there around 6:00 - 7:00AM. I might not be able to afford a Lucky Bag, but at least I'll get the t-shirt! :D

I've seen the rumors over at ifoAppleStore that Apple is looking in Manchester, but I've not seen any tangible evidence that the process in very far along. Have you heard anything? On the other hand, Apple is already posted the need for employees in the Bullring store in Birmingham and says it will open in early 2005.

Anyone heard anything about two smaller Apple stores coming to NYC? I thought I read awhile back that one was going to be in Brooklyn...Anyone?
