Sayhey said:If you are asking about US metro areas, and you exclude San Juan, Puerto Rico from the list, it is the tenth largest metro area without an Apple store. Ninth, if the rumors about Salt Lake are true. That's based on the 2000 census which has the Oklahoma City metro area with 1,083,000 people. Here is the list again.
- Dayton, Ohio
- Omaha, Nebraska
Ha ha ha... very poor timing there big guy..Aldaris said:What about the folks in Utah?... I hate dealing with the "CompUSA" so-called Apple Agents (That don't know anything about the computers other than..."don't ya want a PC instead...)
Please bring us an Apple Store to SLC/Utah for the Holidays!
(Okay maybe thats pushing it... but we can still hope!)

Sayhey said:In a huge and swift move, Apple has posted the usual job openings (check at the bottom of Apple's Retail Stores web page via the link for "local Apple Stores") for FOUR new stores!!! They include some of the most watched for locations in the US. They are stores in San Antonio (La Cantera,) Nashville (Green Hills,) confirmation of a store in Salt Lake City ( The Gateway,) and a new Houston (The Woodlands Mall) store. The first three stores are among the largest metro areas without Apple stores up to this point. The Houston location comes in the largest US metro Area with only one store. All look to have new stores in the May to June timeframe.

wdlove said:If my wife and I have time we may come down and visit your new store when it opens. Hopefully you can join us at the South Shore Mall Apple Store when it opens.
latergator116 said:Thats sounds great. Do you know when the South shore store is opening?
Roller said:Well, at least Birmingham's almost in the top 10. I'm still hoping for a Summit store in the new addition that's under construction.
It'd be interesting to see the list re-sorted in order of distance to the nearest existing Apple store. At present, the closest one is about 150 miles from here, in Atlanta.
Sayhey said:Just a note on two small developments. First the Toronto store is now has listings on the "local Apple Store" page. This usually signifies the 3-6 month time frame for opening a retail store. The exceptions are the high profile stores that take longer from announcement. This is not exactly a shock as everyone is expecting a mid-2005 opening for the Yorkdale store, but it is a confirmation that all is on schedule. Second, the South Shore Plaza store is no longer listing a position for an Apple Store manager. This is usually the last step before an announcement of the opening - the stores don't often open without a manager. I'm still betting on late January.
wdlove said:Thank you for the update Sayhey. Sounds like we will have a new store opening to attend very soon.
Sayhey said:Hey, wdlove, no problem. Now the question is which store will be the 100th US store - Braintree or Century City? Will Apple do anything special to mark the milestone? In any event I'll keep looking for the announcement.
