i dont know if it has been listed but theres one currently being built inside the South
Shore Plaza in Braintree. I wonder when they are going to open.

We are currently waiting for he opening date to be announced. Hopefully it will be in January. Welcome to MacRumors.

ifoAppleStore broke this news a couple days ago, but it is now official - there will be a new Apple store in Raleigh, North Carolina. The new store will be in the Crabtree Valley mall and the usual job openings are on Apple's "local Apple Store" job listings. This is the second in the Raleigh/Durham area and the third in the state.

Nashville Store

The Nashville City Paper confirmed that Nashville, TN will be getting an Apple Store. Apple has job openings posted on it's website right now. There are two locations undergoing major renovations in Green Hills right now. One is the Green Hills mall, which would seem to be the most apt location for the store. The other possibility would be the former H.G. Hills Location. It's right in the heart of Green Hills and the whole place just got buldozed to be redeveloped.

Either way I'm happy, these spots are no more than 5 minutes from my house!

Also, Al Gore lives on Abbot Martin, the same road that the Green Hills mall is on. He could walk to the place without breaking a sweat.

Maybe Al Gore will show up at the new store opening. He could be there to represent Steve and himself.

Any one know if the apple store that it soposed to open in Braintree mass going to open. Do you think Steve will talk about in the keynote? It was being built since like September

I was told, when I called back in early December, that they hoped to be open mid to late January. They had construction issues that delayed what was suppose to be a 2004 opening.

It is very unlikely that Steve would mention just one store in particular at his Keynote. That only way it would get Steve's attention, is if it was going to be a flagship store. Which is my dream for the Boston area.

If anyone would have any additional information ti would be Sayhey. :)

The Braintree store is no way a flagship, it is just a normal size store. If you call either of the other Apple stores in Boston they will give you the same info they gave me. I don't think that the store openings are secret, if you go to the plaza you can see that the store is there, just covered up with a black wall.

How about new stores that are international. Paris, Hong Kong, Dubai, Bangkok etc big cities around the world

Was anybody listening to NPR this morning? They did a report on the upcoming Macworld expo and they interviewed Gary Allen. If I remember correctly, this is the same Gary Allen from ifoapplestore.com!

edit: spelling error

I missed it, but it sounds like him to me. I see he is reporting this about the upcoming Nagoya store.

Apple's fourth international retail store, and the third store in Japan, will open in Nagoya on Sat., January 22nd at 10 a.m.

ifoAppleStore

I'm sure his information is based on this official Apple Japan website. Sorry, I can't translate.

I haven't seen anything yet on the Braintree or Century City openings, but I'm expecting an announcement any day now.

I didn't say that it was going to be a flag ship store. Already knew that it was going to be the size of the CambridgeSide Galleria. Most of the inside mall stores are. Like I said my dream is to have a flag ship store in the Boston area. It seems that the flag ship stores are usually free standing.

Thank you Sayhey fro the update. I just hope that the South Shore Store doesn't open on the 22nd or 29th. Unbreakable plans have already been made on my behalf.

Two new stores and VP's remarks

Apple has listed two new locations on its retail jobs page. One in Tualatin, Oregon and one in Manhattan Beach, California. These look to be respectively the third store in the Portland metro area and the 26th in California (11th in the LA metro area.)

In VP Peter Oppenheimer's report on Apple's financials for Q1 2005 he has projected 125 stores by the end of year. That includes a total of 10 stores outside the US. At present there are only three non-US stores (London, Tokyo, and Osaka) but there has been an acknowledgment of four new such stores (Toronto, Nagoya, Birmingham, and Kent.) That leaves 3 new and unaccounted for international stores that will open in this year. So far only Jobs' Keynote statement that more stores will open in England and Oppenheimer's statement of "expect to open new stores in the US, Canada, UK, and Japan" give a clue of possible locations.

Overall there are now 101 stores and the following locations are confirmed as opening through announcements or job listings:

  1. South Shore Plaza - Braintree, Massachusetts
  2. Century City - Los Angeles, California
  3. Nagoya Sakae - Nagoya, Japan
  4. Lincoln Road - Miami Beach, Florida
  5. St. John's Town Center - Jacksonville, Florida
  6. Pioneer Place - Portland, Oregon
  7. The Gardens at Palm Beach - Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
  8. La Cantera - San Antonio,Texas
  9. Green Hills - Nashville, Tennessee
  10. Woodland - Grand Rapids, Michigan
  11. The Woodlands - Houston, Texas
  12. Gateway Mall - Salt Lake City, Utah
  13. Yorkdale - Toronto, Canada
  14. Bluewater - Kent, England
  15. Bullring - Birmingham, England
  16. Crabtree Valley - Raleigh, North Carolina
  17. Bridgeport Village - Tualatin, Oregon
  18. Manhattan Village - Manhattan Beach, California

That translates into at least 6 unannounced stores, 3 US and 3 international, that we can look forward to in the coming months.

New Boston and Miami Beach stores?

Monster.com has Jan. 12th listings for Store Manager positions at both a Boston store and a Miami Beach store. Now, the interesting part of that is that the Store Manager positions for the Braintree and Lincoln Road stores have long since disappeared from Apple's own website. Does this mean that the positions are reopening and there maybe a glitch in the start up of both stores, or does it mean we have new stores in both cities? We should know shortly.

BTO options

Hi Guys,

just a quick question.

In the apple stores, if you go to but a new mac, can they add BTO options in the stores or do you have to order online to get BTO?

Cheers

Peter

Depends on the option. They certainly add memory, but somethings, like bluetooth, I believe must be added at the factory.

A very enticing concept that you are mentioning. Can know the answer too soon for me. Could this be my long anticipated flag ship store in the Boston area, be still my heart.

Just in case anyone was wondering that store is in San Antonio, TX not FL.

Thanks for the correction. That's what happens when you throw a list together and don't double check. I don't think I made any other silly mistakes.

The Woodlands? Oy, why's everything there?

I shouldn't complain. Our Apple Store is only a few miles up the freeway for me. But I wish they wouldn't build them in malls. If you want to be central and in a mall in Houston, you build in the Galleria, which they did. Rah rah, but...I once sat in an hour-long traffic jam between the Galleria and the freeway, all of a few blocks. And it's not rare for me to drive around one of the parking garages for half an hour trying to find a space.

Of course, some people are 3 hours, 7 hours, 10 hours, or a long international flight from their nearest store, so wah wah for me, I know. But I have to really gear myself up for a visit, not that I bother much of the time. I just wish they'd built in a shopping center or something. Sigh, ah well.

Do you guys ever shop at CompUSA; they have a decent Macintosh section though its still not an Apple store. Best Buy is also supposed to be selling Macintosh products.
