Maybe we could get a Studio Display NEO next?
If they have the budget to put an A19 and 128GB SSD inside a monitor there should be a lot of room for cost-cutting and a more affordable Studio Display.
Furthermore, does that mean that the displays are basically iMac Neos?So with an A19 Pro and 12GB of RAM...
Is the SD:XDR more capable than a MacBook Neo?
Or even the base Studio Display with an A19 and 8GB!
Ooooor, they just use the chips they currently manufacture anyway. So I've got a pair of the first Studio Displays that I got from a previous employer. The speculation was that Apple already has memory in the 64GB configuration on hand so it was cheaper for them to use that RAM, even if the monitors only need 2GB. Upping the memory would imply they're doing something more and the OS they're loading on them needs more.
Furthermore, does that mean that the displays are basically iMac Neos?
It would be so great being able to utilize the chips and storage in the displays to offload files, some automations or even have a local LLM running.
Apple could do so much crazy power user stuff but definitely won’t until they run out of other features to sell every couple of years.
2000 nits in your pocketBut how many songs does it hold?
Yeah that’s a very fair assumption. It would make lots and lots of sense if Apple kept their faulty units and made them operate less demanding hardware. I think they did that with the Home Pod as well. There is no guarantee that the display controllers on those A19/A19Pro work. Won't be much of a mac if can't display any output to the screen.
Probably should not assume that these are 100% perfect working order chips.
iMac display isn’t as good as the Studio Display XDR, but the regular one is almost an identical panel? 4.5 vs 5k isn't a drastic change, 500 vs 600 nits peak brightness is basically a wash, and a whole 3 inches bigger all for like $300 more. It isn't a computer as well.Nah sorry iMac display is not as good and it's like for MacBook Pro users !
Who fits in that category? I do 🙂What exactly would be the selling point against a Dell QHD monitor that costs hundreds less? Neo sells itself because the price and performance is intended for everyday productivity. Who fits in that category while needing 5K or even 4K?
Yes my point exactly seeing as it has almost all parts needed to be a computer! It’s designed/intended to be a display and not a computer
Yeah .. amazing how Target Display Mode has never returned now that all the tech and connections are there for it again.
Apple realized it's too useful and life extending (see: keeps people from having to buy more stuff, sooner).
Seems like it could be an option. Why is this not an iMac?
