Fortunately I’ve always managed to find my Apple TV remote, but the amount of times I had to replace her Fire stick TV remote is enough to weep.
I'm not denying it happens, as evidenced by the number of comments about it - I guess I am just "lucky" in that my wife and I just put the remote down in the same place when we are done.

The reason for the A18 is that I expect Apple to continue iPhone 16/16 Plus production for at least one more year, and that means there will be plentiful supplies of the A18 SoC. And it helps the A18 that it will support WiFi 7 (802.11be).
It's probably going into the 16e too, I'd imagine they can use binned A18s running at a slower speed or with deactivated GPU core or something.

The Apple Wifi chip will bring prices down too.

Just make the damn thing work reliably so that I don’t have to keep rebooting and or reinstalling my apps. And having to often watch pixelated and blurry images would be a real bonus. Our Roku box never needs this level of attention.
We have to reboot our Apple TV 4K two or three times a week on startup -- hopefully the new model will not have this annoyance!

I wonder nobody’s talking about Apple taking away accelerometer & gyro. Those sensors were present in the previous remote, the new Siri Remote lacks a gyroscope and accelerometer, which has affected the compatibility with many games available on App Store. Apple please bring back those sensors.

One or two strangely negative comments on here. The Apple TV4K is my favourite Apple device (and I am deep into the ecosystem) It is a superb STB/Media Player and has revolutionised TV watching and music listening in this house and never with any problems. One thing it is not is 'unreliable'. I doubt there could be a more solid bit of home tech. Having said that, whether just a spec bump or not, I will not upgrading my Apple TV's because I fail to see the advantages at this stage. But for anyone new to the market...go for it.
Yeah. I don’t get the unreliable part at all. We had issues with Hulu Live to the point that we switched to YouTubeTV, but everything else is flawless. That was an app issue, not a device issue.

Apple is still on track to release a new Apple TV model later this year, according to a reliable source speaking to MacRumors.

According to a source familiar with the company's plans, Apple is highly likely to replace the current Apple TV 4K with a new model later this year. The current model will be discontinued.

Today's Apple TV 4K came out in 2022, featuring the A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR10+, and a tweaked Siri Remote with a USB-C port for charging. Apple does not refresh the Apple TV's hardware frequently, releasing a new model around every three years. This 2022 model is the newest and only Apple TV in the company's product lineup.

The new model is expected to feature a newer chip, support for Wi-Fi 7, and an Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip for the first time, allowing Apple's smart home devices to work better together and synchronize data faster. The next-generation Apple TV could also be less expensive, with Apple aiming to lower prices to make the device more competitive, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple is widely expected to debut a new version of the Apple TV in late 2025, between September and December. The latest information suggests that this is still the case, with internal moves related to the device's release continuing.

Related information suggests that Apple is also likely to replace the second-generation HomePod this year.

Is there a need to increase the internet speed of the Apple TV ? They are now at 1g. If they add a camera option would a faster speed be needed?
