You're right, I typed that in a rush.
I was merely trying to point out that waiting for the refresh is worth it. If the newer models are only an incremental upgrade (i.e no i3's or i5's etc.), the current MacBook Pro models will still be discounted, as they will be the previous generation.

Ah, ok, thanks for reassuring me of my sanity :D Yea, I agree with that definitely. I really don't see how Apple can miss this opportunity though. Hopefully tomorrow we'll see.

Hi My first post :)

I can absolutely guarantee that the refresh will be Tuesday 2nd March!

This is a sods law theory since I take delivery of my new macbook pro today (15 in 2.66) and the 2nd is a Tuesday and day 15 after my purchase:D

I am happy with what I'm getting but if it arrives in the 14 days I will assess my options and may send the current one back depending of the upgrades and price of course!

I wonder if today will be as manic as last Tuesday!
No one can guarantee any date. All we know based on release history is they are coming soon. I don't know why everyone was expecting an update on this Tuesday. When Monday is a holiday the releases are usually on Wednesday.

ok, then my hopes are for tomorrow :)

I checked the skus and whatever these are for BestBuy seems to plan to have them by March 14, 2010 ( In-Stock Date). Seems to early for the ipads...

March 16 would actually be pretty perfect for the iPad. Jobs said the iPad would be out 6 weeks after the announcement, which makes it the week of the 9th.

Two 15" and one 17"? Maybe they don't believe the 13" MBP will be updated?

Well thats what the apple reseller store guy at uni told me.. The mail goes like this

There are rumours of a model refresh in the 15/17" models of the MacBook Pro, this is encouraged by a lack of stock worldwide in these models. The best we could do is offer to call you the moment something is announced.

Unfortunately we can not offer an exchange if a model is purchased just before an upgrade, the only exception to this case would be if the computer turned out to be faulty in some way.

Obviously the Mac + iPod promo is available for purchases until the end of March, so there is no rush and if there is a model refresh hopefully it will happen before then.

If you are worried I would suggest waiting to see what happens!

If there's anything else we can help you with please let us know.

Regards,

Where is the worldwide stock lack happening coz wherever I go they have truck loads of MBPs ! Usually you hear about retailers being told about no more supply of the same model but we haven't heard anything as such lately. :(

Now CA is in the game

This is from Gizmodo, but apparently "Apple SKUs Turn Up On Canadian Best Buy System Purportedly Showing MacBook Pros / iMacs"

Hopefully this points to an update within the next 2 weeks.

I am also not sure anymore if I can believe in the refresh in the two following weeks. It might be that if the update isn't here by March 2nd that I will be forced to buy the older model. It would feel really disappointing to buy an old model only to see the new one being announced the next day.

Yes, I know with the 10% rsf it's possible to get the new one, but 10% is money I could use for something else than this idiotic policy of Apple's not to tell its customers anything about anything...

Yep - it's next two weeks or bust - I'm with you, I'll probably buy a regular macbook temporarily/upgrade the hd and ram/and resell to buy new i5 MBP whenever it comes out... or just be really sad

Can someone explain this to me? I thought BestBuy has a week delay from release before they receive the new products. Isn't this week's purpose exactly for preventing leaks? I mean why would apple tell BBY anything if it knew it had 1 week to iron out logistics after the announcement?

Best Buy, DOES NOT have a delay of getting products. I think even earlier in this thread I mentioned that when the new unibody macbooks came out my Best Buy had them that Tuesday.

I'm not trying to give anyone hope or anything else, just stating what I've seen.

Considering that most of the Best Buys that carry Apple have a mini Apple Store inside them, it's not like Apple is going to ignore them. The Mac table at your local Best Buy is typically leased by Apple and staffed by Apple employees.

Weird, I thought he said 60 days for the WiFi-only version. Where did 6 weeks come from?

Oops, sorry. I blame it being like.. 5am when I listened to the announcement. I must have just remembered the number 6 and then put it through the 'wishful thinking' translator.
That would make the iPads due around the 28th of March, yes?

Who knows. I'm surprised they didn't go with their usual "end
of..." or even more vague and general blanket statement: "March 2010". But the 28th fits well with the original iPhone's June 29 I guess..

The website says "end of March 2010" *sigh* Although, since the 28th is a Sunday, and the 'end of March' could be considered the last week or so, that might work in our favour.

How long are things traditionally under consideration by the FCC?
