I get exited when I see their plans. It's no benefit if vendors in the wake of selling the iPhone charge one over 200 per month for two phone lines.

I don't think that a 1-yr old iPhone is going to combat Android growth.

Android has its own new phones (like at least half a dozen of them) due out in the same time period.

The Samsung Galaxy S II in particular seems to be garnering a lot of attention.

Sprint is a 'low cost' carrier where I live. They often give 'free' upgrades of their $100 phones if you sign a new contract with them. Most people who are eligible are eyeing the EVO. Iphone might make the list if it is $100 or less....so I guess it comes down to whether they can hit that price point.

Maybe get rid of the front facing camera, cheaper glass faces and smaller storage?

YES! Just what I was waiting to see on the front page. However, I've lost interest in T-Mobile after what happened yesterday -- 4 hours of no service due to an earthquake in Virginia was just unacceptable.

I agree, earthquakes are unacceptable. I blame the hip-hop.

I beg to differ. :apple:

right now there is an $49 iPhone 3GS on contract, so there will be an $49 iPhone on contract may be 8GB iPhone 4.

Verizon "rule the air" no wait.. iPhone 5 "rule the air" now that it will be in all major phone carriers..I think the cricket just stopped chirping.......

Does this mean that sprint will no longer have true unlimited data?

That would suck, I guess I would be grandfathered in.

If I can get free wi-fi tether on the new iPhone, I might switch to the iPhone, if not forget it.

Being that Sprint has no love of VZ or ATT, I just want to see sprint offer a better data plan that includes tethering and its bye bye AT&T for me.

VZ and ATT will be quick to increase the data levels of their data plans.

re original article

i'm all for bringing both t-mobile and sprint on board - its about time

And there it is...

one phone to rule them all.

I can't take the excitement anymore. We are getting closer to the day when everyone in the world will have an iPhone and no other phones will be sold!!! Think about it! We can all be a member of the knowing elite!! But who will we gloat over? We've all been bragging about being different, but in reality we are all the same. Kind of depressing, isn't it?

1 phone that works with 4 different carriers?? How much is the phone going to cost with a contract agreement?

If all this is true, RIP Andriod

God I hope this is true. I've been prepared to eat the early cancellation fee (T-Mobile) in order to get the iPhone 5. This would save me some monies:D

Also the fact that their new cheap plan really comes pretty close to Verizon's plans when you compare apples to apples -- no pun intended. I was thinking of switching to T-Mobile from Verizon (gasp) to save a few bucks, but when you throw in that monthly $15 charge that T-Mobile charges to offset the phone cost and THEN pick the plan that closely represents what you might have with Verizon, you only end up saving about 15 -20 bucks.

Which is definitely legitimate money over the course of a year, but then (until the near future) you realize they have no iPhone offering and questionable coverage in some areas, it seems just as good to spend the extra 20 bucks a month.

I think when that days comes we'll start to turn on each other. "We don't talk to Bob. He has a 16gb iPhone. We have 64gb iPhones. He's fish sticks, we're caviar."

The T-Mobile Value Family Plan Unlimited blows Verizon's Unlimited Family Plan out of the water. If T-Moblile has good coverage where you need it, it can't be beat price wise.

Good point. It will be a civil war.

One phone that works across all carriers would be incredible. I won't sign another contract. Pay for the phone outright and if the service sucks.... bite me carrier A I'm moving carrier B. See how fast rates come down then.

The only problem with that is AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint do not offer discounted non-contract plans. That means that you are paying for a phone subsidy that you are not receiving, which means the carriers are getting the last laugh yet again. I agree with the idea, though, and hope to see better non-contract pricing across the board.

This is certainly a great way to combat Android growth.

A lot of Android sales were due to users being locked into their provider and unable to get an iPhone.

Android growth will continue to dominate the iPhone in my opinion. The iPhone just cannot cut it against all the other Android phones. This seems like Apples last ditch effort to try and come back from oblivion by putting the phone on all 4 carriers. Not to mention how they have been suing everyone and their mother because everything looks like an iPhone... gimmie a break.

Why bother? Although it's unfortunate, AT&T will own TMo in six months anyway. /sadTMobileCustomer

But at least you'll get to keep your current plan.

I have also read rumors that the iPhone 5 will come in only one version, supporting both CDMA and GSM. If this is true, there's no reason why T-Mobile can't have it. It would make a lot of sense for Apple to release only one model for all systems, simplifying production and inventory tracking.

I really hope this rumor is true.

Apologize for not clarifying, but currently my fiance and I have to separate plans and pay about 180 / month on Verizon (includes truly unlimited data, not unlimited 2gb or 5gb data). To get the family plan on T-Mobile that is the closest match for both of our needs we'd play close to 150 - 160 / month after taxes.

I can see how this would work for some, but for us it doesn't make sense yet. Also, T-Mobile gets great reception where I live, but I like to have peace of mind that I have a carrier that works at least as well as the next guy instead of not as well as the next guy in those more remote areas.
