I would think that they would release everything together at an event if there is one, but there isn't any proof of this event yet, so going by all the other rumors there is still a good chance for thursday.

I would think that they would release everything together at an event if there is one, but there isn't any proof of this event yet, so going by all the other rumors there is still a good chance for thursday.
tomorrow afternoon... everyone will leave macrumors.com and go to thier nearest apple store or mac licensed seller...without drawing much attention to yourself sneak into the backroom and dig through all of the stock until you someone finds a palette that has been sealed by apple...everyone in?
Will the new MacBook pros be only available at the apple store Thursday? I would think they would have arrived at best buy by now if there were going to be ready for purchase by Thursday. There have been no reports of any arriving at the local best buys. I had a friend work at best buy today and looked where the new shipments come in and......nothing.
Just left bby. Talked to manager about the rumors floating around about a Thursday release. He flat out said that I have 14 days to exchange my mbp i just bought. Didn't confirm or deny if they had any.

Specs sound promising....I was thinking of getting the 13", glad to hear about the 16gb ssd for the OS and the higher res screen. Was really hoping for an i5 in the 13"though. Still better than the C2D I almost bought a few weeks ago.

lack of i5 if true is a huge bummer :/, but at least it seems like this is a big redesign based on the amount of changes, not just a spec bump. If we are getting i3, I hope theres a discreet GPU.

I currently have a 2010 2.4 gHz with a SSD...assuming the new MBP 13" gets the features in that leak, do you think it would be worth roughly 200 dollars to upgrade to a new one?
The answer was a resounding yes if it came with i5 Standard, but with i3...im now not so sure.

IMHO Probably not worth it to go i3 if you already have SSD. The gains are probably not that big. If the rumors are true the new ones will probably look different though. Unless you really care about what strangers thinks of you, when you are pretending to be writting a novel in starbucks while playing on facebook on your outdated MBP
I thought with the new intel i3 the graphics card was built in and they wouldn't have a discreet GPU. Am I wrong on this ?
odds are its not going to have an i5 but rather an i3, so i think the machine you have now is plenty fast enough to suit your needs...id say save ur 200 dollars and save it for somethin else
The new integrated gpu is much more powerful in the new i3 than the older intel chips. We will know by Thursday.. or earlier if the new MBP has discreet GPU

If the rumor is true, at 1.8kg or roughly 3.9-4lb, I think there is a good chance they kept the super drive in the 13 inch model.
For comparison's sake my 13 inch asus ul30vt is 3.3lb, and it does not have an optical drive.
If they kept the optical drive in the 13 inch model, I think it would be difficult to fit in a discreet GPU, especially if they are also trying to fit in a 16GB of flash
on the board. We will find out soon!

I imagine that the i3 should be faster.
I have a windows laptop woth i3 2.1Ghz and it is much faster with everything I do compared to my previous c2d 2.5Ghz laptop.
