Dell laptops have the same specs and same parts as Apple laptops. Apple displays are expensive for a reason. They are better made, more reliable and have better design. Well worth paying the extra money over some cheap rubbish Dell.

Dude, you come across like such a tool it's not even funny.

Dell u2410 rev A00.

I have been using the monitor for just on two weeks now and have only two complaints (both of which have nothing to do with performance).

The first is that I wish there was a digital audio optical out for use with the HDMI and Displayport connections.
My second gripe is that the screen is inset and reflections appear on the inside of the bezel. I’m pretty sure I only notice this because of the numerous other reviews I’ve read that listed this as the monitors only flaw.

Now the good stuff. The backlight of the u2410 is flawless, no bright/dim spots or light leakage. As a result the panel produces flawless blacks and pristine whites. I’ve used the monitor in all its preset modes, my personal calibrated one and with the brightness set to zero and have not experienced any of the cracking or creaking issues mentioned in other forum posts.
I have not used the panel at 100% brightness for any period of time because it hurts my eyes.
Colours are fantastic. End of discussion. I still look at some websites and am surprised by how different they look on the u2410 compared to my old monitor.
Blu-ray movies are amazing and I’ve had no ghosting/lag/stuff irritate me during PS3 gaming.

Why I chose a u2410 over the apple display:

- Connectivity wise, it just slaughters the ACD. There is literally nothing I own that cannot be hooked up to this baby. 4 port powered USB hub and a multicard reader.

- Adjustability. The ACD can tilt back and forth, the u2410 can basically do the macarena (it’s very adjustable, ok).

- It’s a matte display. I’m not gonna argue with fanboys over which looks better and whatnot. The u2410 has a superb panel in front of a superb backlight and comes with a superb warranty. Take that you ACD lovers.
I know the ACD has an LED backlight, but the dell is brighter anyway. Plus it only takes 3 seconds to warm up, is your time that precious?

- Design. Yes the ACD is thin and sexy, but the Dell really isn’t an ugly monitor, so guys I’ll keep half my money in the bank and settle for the u2410s average looks.

- Price. Bargain.

I think that’s all I need to write for now. I’d be happy to answer any further questions.

OH! And the proximity-sensitive capacative-touch buttons are just cool.

Can somebody compare this to 2408WFP Rev 02?

I just got my 2408WFP a week ago for like 270$ (50% off coupon with laptop) with a 100$ gift, so it was like 170$. It's an awesome monitor. I was a little iffed that I could've gotten this monitor for the same price but I couldn't resist the 50% off coupon which rarely comes out from Dell and I didn't want to lose the chance. In fact, I am going to try to sell my two older Ultrasharp 20" monitors for 100-125$ each, which will practically pay for this monitor.

As for somebody who was bashing Dell Ultrasharps, they have no idea what they are talking about and obviously they never had Ultrasharps before. Ultrasharps aren't cheap by any chance, don't fool yourself by Apple's price which is 3-4 times more than the usual. They don't look ugly, they are just monitors. The quality and warranty are frigging excellent from Dell. I am talking from experience as the guy who had both ACDs and Ultrasharps, for the price, Ultrasharps can not be beaten.

no the u2410 does come with built in speakers but then again why would anyone want to use monitor speakers?

I just got mine set up today (u2410) and was shocked to find there is a noticeable color shifting within the middle 1/3 of the display vertically and horizontally. The left, top, and bottom have true color as well as the right, but the middle seems to have a green tint? :(
This is amplified on solid light color backgrounds (gray, light blue)

Can anyone else confirm seeing something similar? Or should I phone Dell?

Are you saying Dell doesn't make rubbish unreliable cheap ugly hardware? You and I wouldn't buy a PC from Dell. Why buy any other Dell garbage?

Fillet o' Fish and Big Mac sandwiches suck, but I sure love a Quarter Pounder and french fries. Stop buying McDonalds?

FSU and Ohio suck, but the Gators and Texas rock. Stop watching football?

Fiesta and Taurus suck, but 150's and 250's rock. Stop buying Fords?

I know I shouldn't feed the fire, but that (black/white, all/none) line is weak. My suggestion is that you don't buy a Dell monitor because they suck, so don't bother wasting anymore time reading about them. Move along, nothing to see here.

I almost hit the back button to cancel this post because it will do absolutely nothing but darn it, I just spent 5 minutes on it.

Um definitely call Dell. They'll send out a replacement.

I took a couple shots of the backlighting. It would appear the one on the right is dimmer or an entirely different color

There is no reflection of sunlight. The room was completely dark.

Is it LED backlit or CCFL? If it has no LED then I'm not sold.

I'm looking for a second monitor to go with my 24" LED ACD but so far there is nothing great. I might pick up a cheap Dell 2309w for the 2nd display. I need dual monitor so badly for my courses!!
