Really?!
Seriously?!

LOL wooot wooot! exciting morning tomorrow! Got my $$$ ready! Already sold my iPad 3 in anticipation for either the new iPad or iPad mini :)

And if all they put out is an entry level mini with lesser specs than the current iPad...

...you're gonna look a little silly.

That's fanboism at its absolute worst. And before anyone goes knocking on me as anti-apple, look at my profile and what I own. I love my Mac, iPhone, etc, but Jesus!

It's like the Star Trek thing. I love the shows and movies. I do not own any vulcan ears or costumes and have never been to a convention.

let's see...
the most apple will do to the big iPad is...
-improved front camera (yea...after 3 generations...finally.)
-A6 processor (meh.)
-same grid of icons
- 0 ground-breaking features

....but people with an iPad 3 will still buy it.

BTW, will that idiotic Forstall be on stage demoing the beautiful apple maps on the iPad mini?

Too soon in the life cycle for me to care. I wont be considering another iPad till 2013 or 2014

My iPad3 is working great and I see no reason to change at this time.

This is why the name change from iPad 3 to "iPad" makes sense. The iPad can be tweaked slightly without creating too much confusion.

That's actually a very good point. Now we won't have to call it the iPad 3.5; it's still just the iPad but with a better camera. Despite what a poster said after you, I don't think this will lead to more confusion when selling the device. Now, you'll just title your Craigslist post as "iPad 3 with Lightening Connecter and 720 camera" rather than "iPad 3."

More confusion in my opinion. Buying an iPad used, for instance: "which version of the third generation iPad is this"? iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad 5 is less syllables and more clear.

Why is such a confusion? You always will have 2 versions in the shops : 1) The newest/latest and 2) The older/previous. Just like with their computers. I really don't get it why ppl get confused by this.....
Otherwise, go with generations. 1st, 2nd, 3d and so on.

I don't even see them doing that much, if anything at all. I could MAYBE see them add LTE support outside of NA and maybe the Lightning port, but not much else.

It's funny how the so-called tech experts complain after every new Apple event, how nothing was "game changing" and how the changes were only incremental. Then 2 articles later whine about planned obsolescence. They forget the vast majority of consumers aren't buying a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc every year. Many, not even every other year. Here in Canada we get our phones with 3 year contracts. I went from a 3G to the 4S last year and won't be in the market for another 2 years. Let me tell you. The difference between the two was huge. And I was/am very happy with both. As a further example, my iMac is 5 years old (and was as fully loaded as I could get at the time) and will run OSX 10.8. I probably won't upgrade it for another 2-3 years, even though this will be (probably) the last OS upgrade I can do. Hell, it's only been 2 years since the cheapest iMac could out perform mine!

I hope they don't update the current iPad just yet because I haven't sold my current one yet. Lol

haha wow, you're a total fool for even thinking you know what I need. If you go back and look at ALL my previous posts - I rarely even touch my iPad. I use it as a PORTFOLIO for my clients to see my work. Since I don't really use it a lot, I would prefer to have it be cheaper.

I simply wanted the new one based on two things

1. iPad Mini - if it comes with a great screen and is $329 I'll buy it. It's cheaper than the full size iPad, lighter to carry, and uses lightning cable.

2. updated 9.7" iPad - I'll buy it just so don't have to carry two types of cables around. I have an iPhone 5 so it would be great to just carry 1 lightning cable.

So before you go blindly bashing people, you should ask why they want something. Geezus, it's worse than androidauthority here. People bashing their own apple-mates...lol

Let's just say for argument's sake that Apple decided to release a new iPad every seven months.

According to those who claim to be very upset about the rumours of a revised iPad being true that would mean that had they known, then they would have waited 7 months, this is supposed to be the reason for their angst.

But wait, knowing that 7 months is now the new rev cycle, that would mean that after waiting for 7 months they still could not purchase the new iPad because they know that there will be a new one in another 7 months... etc.

Shh... stop making logical sense. It's like the people who say they'll "wait until next year for the better processor" despite the fact that there will obviously be a "better" processor after Haswell. If you need/want something, just buy it. If you choose to wait for the next best thing, you'll be waiting forever.

You want a jack-hammer on a tablet?

Because there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that anybody could ever want something for portability reasons.

The opening for the iPhone 5's front camera is actually smaller than the one on the iPhone 4, so I don't think this is good logic for a larger sensor, but perhaps a slightly better lens. I think an HD front camera on the next iPad is inevitable.

You sir make a excellent use of logic and as it happens you are entirely correct, the diameter of the opening depends on it's distance from the sensor, it can be made smaller by moving the sensor closer or bigger by moving it farther.

Actually it's more like the way Mac models are handled. If there is a slight update it will be the iPad (Late 2012) instead of the iPad (Early 2012). The way you tell the difference (outside looking in the settings) is the bottom connector and the slightly larger camera aperture.... If this even is a thing.

IMO we'll see fewer upgrades on iPads going forward. Things are going to slow down and upgrades will come as parts and price fit Apple profit margin setup. Seriously an A6 is starting to reach overkill in something that isn't a full desktop. I'd expect an iPad (Late 2012) to stand all the way till this time next year at the least.

Relax, they're not going to update the full-sized iPad tomorrow. It's early in the product release cycle. What we're seeing here is probably the first of what will be many fourth generation iPad leaks. Expect more of these leading to the actual launch. In the meantime, Apple is clearly not in any hurry to get rid of the 30-pin connector, hence still selling the iPhone 4, the fourth generation iPod touch, the iPhone 4S, the iPod classic, and (at least, up until tomorrow) the iPad 2 and third generation iPad. If they were hell-bent on getting rid of the connector ASAP, then at least the first four of the aforementioned would not be sold anymore. Tomorrow, we'll see the iPad mini, and it will have lightening. The third generation iPad will see no change; if it wasn't shipping with iOS 6 preloaded, perhaps it will now. Beyond that, we'll see it update in three months at its usual ten-month rev cycle and conveniently after the holidays.

For those of you with buyer's remorse over your third generation iPad, don't; it's still amazing and it will still continue to be sold for a long while yet to come. It won't be replaced tomorrow, it will just be supplemented with something else. For those of you who have recently bought iPad 2s, perhaps buyer's remorse is warranted, but you payed substantially less than what an equivalent third generation iPad costed, and your iPad will be quite larger than what is likely to come out tomorrow. No one loses here. Chill out. In the meantime, expect more fourth generation iPad rumors to trickle in from now until their likely release in January.
