Apple is running new web banner advertisements extending the Mac and PC TV commercials again to the web. Apple's previous 'Don't Give Up on Vista" ads ran on many sites in November.

The ad is currently running on NYTimes.com.

They need to do less Vista-bashing and more Leopard promoting. Its left to the fans to tell their friends and families about the features that make 10.5 better than Vista.

On another note, now I can see these ads on the sites, hopefully it won't be long until Pith Helmet is updated for Safari 3.1

That is a great ad. I do agree though that they need to start promoting Leopard instead of bashing Vista.

Whats with all the negative campaigning, we've got so many positive things to say about leopard, instead we decide to bash vista.

Crazy..

this ad campaign is old and tired, the whole look of the things reminds me of the system preferences icon of tiger/the white imac appearance.

its dated now, we need something modern and flashy that draws people towards the macs. Maybe use time machine, someone losing a data, and showing how quickly it can be restored by jumping into time machine or quick look.

Time for the advertising to grow up a bit.

Apple is now just a big arrogant bully, 10.5 is not all that much better than Vista ATM.

10.4 and WinXP are the best OS respectively, right now for the best blend of compatibility and stability. This advertising campaign is really sad for a company like Apple, my respect for them has truly flown out the window.

My apple is BETTER than your orange...

Well, it's a matter of taste.

I set up a Vista (Basic) machine for a friend's home business and he's had no problems with it.

End the PC vs. Mac ads already, I think people get the message (look at sales).

Apple needs to move on...

Man all this is so childish and weak. Apple is acting like a tiny noisy dog that wont shut up or the drunk short loud guy at a party trying ot make fun of everyone else. IMO if Apple was a person based on these ads, he'd be an Ass.

Want to impress people? Make ads showing why the product is better without trying to bash or name your opponent.

I think a lot of mac folks like these ads because of decades of hearing their computers bashed by PC users. I think PC users relate to the ads because their operating system is getting so frustrating and they are looking for an alternative. Ultimately the goal of the ads is to convince PC users to switch to Mac. Many of the ads have touted features of OSX that aren't available (or as good) on the PC (i.e. Time Machine).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3A109a Safari/419.3)

great love these ads. Keep them coming

I like the ad and the fact the PC is using a switch that ends its switching on a positive OS X ad. Funny!

As others have pointed out, I'd also like to see ads showing off some of the real benefits of OS X.

I hear what you're saying, but PC users bashing mac users in the past is one thing but for a professional corporation to act on the same level as the PC users that were bashing you in the past is another. Basically in the past, mac users were above the stupid and childish PC users who bashed and now Apple has turned into one of those same PC users - thats my opinion.

Also there are a large percentage of people who have used XP and Vista without any issues what so ever so I think the ad is actually targeting a small percentage of the population. My father who knows nothing for example has been using XP since 2004 and I have not had to do any sort of maintenance on his machine. I use 10.4 at home as well as Vista64 and they are both stable and incident free.

Basically I feel what Apple is doing with these ads is beneath what a professional company should be doing. I cant find any examples of other ads from other large companies that are childish like this.

More pathetic Microsoft bashing. Give it a rest for christ sake.

No one cares about these ads anymore apart from die hard Apple fanatics. Microsoft fans (ie. 95% of the world) couldn't care less about the whining and arrogance coming out of the Apple camp.

I just saw it on gizmodo.com also. It's pretty funny, but I agree that they should start really promoting Leopard based on the nice features that it includes.

Sweet

I love these big web ads. They really get the point across and get the viewers attention. This one in particular is quite good, hilarious too!!! I bet these big web ads are quite expen$$$ive to run!!

O well, good job :apple:

Apple's explosive sales growth may suggest otherwise.

If the ads didn't work, they wouldn't be running them.

Corporations don't just sit on bad marketing strategies for years while seeing their sales flop. It just doesn't happen. If something is not working, something else is brought in quickly.

As far as "bashing" the other product--why is this so controversial? This is standard fare in advertising. I guess only Pepsi is allowed to Bash coke over their better taste, and Bounty is allowed to bash Brawny over its stronger paper, Papa Joh's is allowed to tout its better ingredients over Pizza Hut, and BMW is allowed to bash Mercedes with their superior warranty....etc etc.

But Apple is not allowed to point out its superiority over Vista?

You may think it's a tacky, but you are not audience for such ads, and in any event, the tactic is fair and standard. If you want to check out Leopard's features, you can easily click the damn ad where it takes you to Apple's in depth Leopard web page.
