take the tin foil hate off. It’s a tad to tight
Everything Google offers you is another tool to make you give them more information about you and people you know.

After using it, you can go back to the settings and revert the permission, but I’m pretty sure they are betting on the vast majority who wouldn’t remember or care.

First of all, calling people “brainless” is not cool.

Second, I have tried very hard to get used to DuckDuckGo, but the truth is that Google is just miles ahead as a service, so in the end I gave up and went back to Google.
I am being very careful about protecting my privacy and I believe you can mostly do so even by using Google (to a degree obviously).

I also have a Yahoo mail account. Fancy having a go at me for that as well?

Many think it is cool to hate on Google on online forums. They also click agree without reading terms and conditions.

Trying to get this to work but my app doesn’t show any music button and when u ask google what song is this it does nothing
Same here. The option isn’t available. Is it a slow rollout feature?
Same here, unable to get it to work at all - it just goes to google search immediately (English keyboard, not in USA)
It doesn't work for me either. When I say "What's this song", it just fills "What's this song" in the search bar and returns the google search results for it. Does anyone know why it doesn't work for me or twistedpixel8? iPhone XS, iOS 14.
Not working here either. no button to tap and if i say find this song it just brings up the article about the feature
Yeah same. Isn’t working for me at all. Must be a Google slow rollout like their Dark Mode for GMail.

Hey guys, go to Settings, select the Google app and check what your preferred language is. If it's English (UK) or anything other than simply English, this feature will not work. That was the issue for me at least, it wasn't working because I had my default language set to English (UK). I changed it, restarted the app and was able to see the "search a song" button. Hope that helps.

Thank you but that wasn’t it. It just miraculously is working today (albeit it’s not exactly great).

Apple Siri is a total disappointment. Considering the resources behind it, it really is an epic fail. It can't do most of the things I throw at it so I learn it sparingly.

I'm not a big google fan, but this is another reason why Apple Siri will never catch up to google assistant and their variants.

Before we were all using a smartphone for everything, I used to use a search engine that let me input "UUUUUUDDDDDDDDUUDDDDD" like how each note is higher/lower than the preceding note. It would find a song for me. I thought that was brilliant.

Thanks - I came to the same "solution" - I think I even managed to swap it back. It's a bad oversight on Google's side, but hey it could be worse- ref:language, locale, keyboard settings interaction in Windows :p

That was the first thing I made sure of. What version are you running? Mine is 129.0.
It's working for me now. I'm now on version 130.0, which wasn't available a couple of days ago when I made my post originally. Perhaps that did it.
