is anybody else excited to see the new smartphones that will be announced?nope im very interested to see the new htc 4.7 hd screen with tegra 3 quad core and android 4.0. Sgs3 seems wont be announced till march or so.just like the last one

im not really planning on buying one, since my iphone 4 with jailbreak is more than enough for now, but i still love to see new smartphones, since they are my favourite gadgets.

Maybe even new tablets would be cool.yea ,,cool

just imagine how awesome that 4.7 720p screen will be..just mind blowing huh:rolleyes:.
:d

all of you android phones are just a copy of the iphone people do realize that the iphone was just a copy of an windows mobile phone, here is just one that shows my point. It was made by imate in 2005, it has a 3inch touch screen, a camera, interent, ram, an aluminum body with very few buttons, kind of one large button at the botom, power button at the top, activesync, exchange capability, apps you could by from two appstores plus other random sites.

Ya, all apple did is what they always do, take an existing technology and spruce it up for the high end crowd, then market it like a religion and boom. Just like they will be doing with the new TV this year. Wow wont that be cool when we can watch TV shows in our own homes, why didnt anyone ever think of that before.

The Germans dop this as well. Instead of creating something new they work to make what exists better. "German Engineering" is what I think Apple does best.

Right. I guess my question is, at what point does this clash with their core philosophy to always innovate?

This thread, what I heard:

1. I know this is an iPhone forum, but lets talk about Android anyway.
2. Hey, its a new month that means more phones running android are coming out. Yes...again. I know new ones come out every month, but so what.
3. I prefer iPhones.
4. Android is an offshoot of iOS & iPhones.

Don't we have these same threads each month or is this just the same one we refurb and throw back up each month?

Debatable, the Mercedes c, e or s class can't remember which is the pinochle of innovation. Every feature in nearly every car started there and trickled down. Won't be long before all cars have auto emergency braking.

We will, unless of course MR decide to do what I have been suggesting for ages, which is to have a separate sub-forum for discussion of non-Apple devices (and how those devices compare to comparable Apple products).

Wow is that your phone? i assume you still have it as the iPhone is just a rip off and not needed?

Apple don't really invent a market. They have never said they do but they certainly revolutionize it.

You wait when they do bring out a TV Set. I have complete confidence in Apple bringing something different to the table.

I'm sure people will still piss and moan though

not as excited about MWC becuase samsung wont be unveiling The Beast that is the galaxy s3.

still the new quad cores from HTC , sony, motorola, LG etc should be interesting. Looking forward to seeing those.

I hope one pulls a rabbit out the hat with a 1080p screen. If not i think samsung might deliver that with the s3

What's the point?

well its around 50% higher resolution than 720p. It will look super sweet and pin sharp on a decent sized screen

I'm also wondering if having native 1080p screen will open the door for 1080p video recording

4S already records in 1080p?

I think there has to be a line when resoltuion gets as good as it gets with regards to how well the screen looks. I think the retina at the moment is perfect as you can't even see the pixels so anything past that would be pretty useless??

I dunno. :D

yeah i just learned so does the galaxy s2 do 1080p video recording. I thought they were both 720p.

The iphone 4 resolution is good and especially on a 3.5 inch screen. But if your going up in screen size higher resolution is needed to achieve the same sharpness

I've actually suggested the exact same thing myself. Guess they're falling on deaf ears.

new high end phones

I too would love to see a 4.7 inch screen. That would be awesome.:apple:

Be cool if apple went with a different aspect ration and took the screen to the edges keeping the phone similar in size. The glass already goes there so there should be anymore worry about breaking it.

If you're really going to try to compare the aesthetic similarities between than and an iPhone, with, for example, a galaxy tab and an iPad, then there is no helping you

Galaxy nexus and HTC Titan (and Titan II) have you covered

must suck for Android users to have there $200+ phone be next to worthless in a matter of months.

heck you can still sell a 3gs (an almost three year old phone) for about $150, how much can you get for a three year old android phone?

1080p on a screen that size is visually no different than 720p...or anything that achieves a resolution of around 300dpi. The human eye won't be able to tell the difference, but the processor will have to work harder, graphics will be larger and take up more space, and the battery wont last as long, because of the increased processing power required...all these drawbacks for no benefit at all.

1080p recording is already possible...it's about the camera, not the screen. You won't see it in full 1080p on the phone...but again, you wouldn't notice the difference anyway. You can still play through video out in 1080p,and put it on a computer in 1080p, etc

Show me a single Android phone that went next to worthless in matter of months. Please! I would buy them in bulk.

I only see it as a benefit. I'll buy a like new droid for nothing. Sure I'll be three months behind android and windows tech which is what? Two years ahead of apple? :)

Im kidding btw before anyone gets butthurt. But on a serious note comments like that make me embarrassed to own an iPhone. It's like Mercedes and BMW half of the price is the badge on it.

well that was more or less an estimate, but since we are talking

How bout the original HTC EVO which came out June 4th 2010 for a pretty high price, how much are them going for on ebay nowdays?

Honestly you can have all nice specs like a 720p screen and large screen but the fact is they still run Android. Especially if it runs 2.3, I wouldn't take a second look at them. IMO software is the most important aspect of a phone, great hardware and design like the 4S is also nice, but to me it's secondary.
ICS does look like a huge step up and in my limited use I've been impressed, but the ecosystem, design and general polish still isn't there.

Not just this month. This year in general is going to be really big for both smartphones and tablets in terms of software (iOS, Windows Phone, Android, BBX, WebOS open source) and hardware (Apple, HTC, Nokia, Samsung, etc). This will hopefully give us the real competitive markets we need right now.
