By your standards, freeze-drying a turd and painting it blue is an innovation. New and useless doesn't mean innovative in this context. Bringing to market, having financial success is innovation. Why? Because Thomas Edison said so. If it doesn't sell or isnt widely adopted then it doesn't have utility, and if it doesn't have utility then it isn't successful.

I totally agree with you. The term innovation is loosely tossed around everywhere when it's essentially meaningless. All it means is a new product or idea. I can say this: Apple made the iPhone 5 out of aluminum and it's now much thinner and lighter and call that an innovation. The innovation def that you made is the one that should be adopted universally.

We have been patiently waiting for over nine months for a new product release from Apple. How proud they must be to give us last years model in cheap plastic. Apple is amazing.

Yes. And also don't forget that the true secret of magic is misdirection ;)
You would be naive to think that all these leaks are simply coincidence and you have yet to see many leaks for 5s or 6 for that matter (except some internals)

Assuming these photos are all real, its a huge disappointment that Apple wasn't able to create a good looking phone, especially given what Motorola was able to accomplish with the Moto X. Seriously, the Moto X has much better looks compared to the plastic iPhone ... and they're both plastic!

Also, from the leaks of the other colors for the iPhone, the colors look AWFUL as well.

Agreed. Motorola is innovating here, while Apple is just offering an old school cheap plastic phone.

The only real innovation from apple was once releasing original iPhone, since then we just witness specs bumps and mass marketing...

I didn't use the word innovation once, so I'm not sure what your point is.

----------

So your implying they won't follow their current model they use in the Western market place of offering older products cheaper than. We will see, but looking at the iPad Mini's specs I wouldn't hold my breath for the 5C having good specs.

That is what is going to happen. If you think the 4S is going to continue to exist this fall, you're wrong.

And I didn't imply it would have "good" specs by your standards. It will be similarly positioned as the iPad Mini to the full-size... Which is more than plenty for the majority of iPhone users.

You know that all you have seen is the back panel, right? The most inovative thing that the mostly pedestrian Moto X has is the software-based "always listening" mode... not really something you can glean from looking at the back plate. Also, you are comparing something that took Google and Moto 2 years to finally release as their flagship to Apple's yet unannounced, yet to be specked "budget phone"... that's some hard trolling right there.

I'd assume the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S will no longer be sold.

It'll be the iPhone 5 (current) and/or the iPhone 5C sold together along with the new iPhone 5S.

The iPhone 5C will probably be same internals as 5, but with color/plastic option and 8GB memory to start to make it the cheapest. So price wise $0 for 5C with 2yr, $99 for 5 with 2yr, and $199 for 5S with 2yr

But despite each point you made, each feature qualifies as an innovation.
So Putting a piece of technology that Belongs to another company inside your product is that really Innovation? Who get the credit for that innovative peice of technology??

Mass customization of phone components.

I agree with this, although your wording is strange. Mass customization? Let it have mass sales first. I happen to think this is going to be a dud. The colors are customizable, which is cool, but most phones are purchased at carrier stores, and that feature is carrier exclusive, so I doubt this catches on. However, I do admire the idea and I do think its innovative even if it fails.

Apple has been very conservative about the iPhone, and I imagine that a lot of their decision making is based on things we aren't privy to. I'll judge the appearance of the iPhone when it is announced.

If your in a room with let's say 5 moto x's with the always listening mode they will all respond. Lmao

hmmm

Is it weird that we really haven't seen much in the way of leaks for the "5S"?

I may still be way out there with this but I'm wondering if there wasn't something to those rumors that had production of the 5S stopped so they could increase the screen size then release closer to Christmas...maybe as the "6".

I know I know, but I can dream can't I?

5S probably built into the 5 shell so nothing to leak really. Just a better camera, better processor, better battery and fingerprint sensor in the screen.

This is my thought as well. Something along these lines:

iPhone 5C 16GB - $0
iPhone 5C 32GB - $99
iPhone 5C 64GB - $199

iPhone 5S 32GB - $199
iPhone 5S 64GB - $299
iPhone 5S 128GB - $399

The slight price overlap makes you decide what is more important, more storage or a better phone, which is very Apple like.

I think so too

I wish they would throw a 4G chip on the touch.

----------

Well that won't be a problem, will it? When have you ever seen more than one of the same phone in a room that wasn't an iPhone?
So true

----------

Mass customization of phone components.
thats not innovation that's just a bad idea. Lol another bad idea is the half a billion dollars they are going to spend on marketing. They don't expect to turn a profit until 2018.

Double down my ass.

They will have enough storage options to fill the $0, $99, $199 and so forth price points between the low cost model and 5S, so the 5, 4S and 4 will go away.

You have that right. I can see the highest end iPhone 5C come in at iPhone 5 prices. However, I bet we see options with memory much lower such as even 4 GB options and perhaps a no-camera phone for secure area niches.

Isn't iOS 6 over 4G?

Well, to be fair – apparently it learns your voice (or your diction) to allow it to be more personal and, I assume, safer... so that I don't ask your phone to give up personal details like your girlfriends number or text history with a friend or co-worker. That being said the video review done by The Verge said it's accuracy was good, but not great.
