A few years ago I had a small head-mounted worklight that apparently had some kind of infrared sensor in it, though I don't know if it could have been called a camera, that allowed you to turn the light on and off by moving your hand past it, I guess so that if your hands were dirty you wouldn't have to use them to touch the worklight's regular power button. I think you could turn the light on by moving your hand forward, and off by moving your hand backward. It actually worked well, but it wasn't long before the light's non-replaceable rechargeable battery died and the whole thing stopped working.

I also don't like the idea of wearing ear-cameras everywhere I use my headphones.
These wouldn't be cameras as we normally think of them, since they wouldn't detect visible light. They'd be more like a motion sensor in a security light, but enhanced with a small lens so they could register more complex hand gestures within two or three feet, rather than triggering with just any movement near them.

"Apple may remove the high-end model's pressure-sensors and go all-in on gesture controls"

What are the pressure sensors? Are those what allows me to click the stems and to slide my finger up/down for volume? Because those work great!

I use Airpods 4 as well as Airpods Pro 3 to give my ears a break, and I really miss the volume slide on the Airpods 4.

Both of those controls (click and slide) work when I'm walking or running, even when sweaty. I cannot imagine gestures working well for multiple types of exercise. (And let's not talk about the joke which is trying to control using Siri. That mostly does not work in all conditions.)

I don't mind if they want to introduce this to some higher-end version as long as the current and great stem controls remain available in some model for us who like to exercise or who like the reliability of the current controls.
I miss the tap to change track on the original airpods. I could do that without moving the seating of the airpods in my ears like with the squeezy pros. The volume slider is great though!

Gotta have something to drive the sales numbers up for the earnings report to make up for the reduced gains

Can split the base line airpods into three version, Airpods, Airpods air and Airpods plus.

While you are at it, lets add couple of more pencils, like pencil ultra and and pencil max.

Bring back the iPhone mini and one more version iPhone mini air.

And further split iPhone air into two, iPhone air and iPhone air plus.

Just build up the entire iPhone Galaxy !!

I'd rather have more battery than a camera - I guess that will happen if you deactivate the camera option.

as a hardcore Vision Pro lover I would love this but I don't see apple releasing a new type of AirPods just for that considering how much they've backburnered it. Unless a new Vision Pro is coming out sooner than expected I just don't see it at this point. Unless these are something to pair with the forthcoming apple glasses
The rumors for this timeline wise seem to line up with rumors about apple’s glasses announcement. So they very well could be designed to work together somehow with some apple special sauce

Not sure when it will launch. The costlier AirPods Pro might be very similar to normal AirPods Pro with having extra sensors as the only addition. Might be priced at probably $299. Don't know whether the extra premium will be worth it. Waiting to see what Apple will launch.
