Built-in apps just suck, and the OS the TV runs only get updates for a couple of years. If the Apple TV goes away, I’d probably use my PS5 or Xbox for TV apps.

I agree that the Apple TV box offers a premium experience but I think fewer and fewer people will buy one unless Apple adds something unique. It doesn't help that you have to switch inputs, which creates friction. Two possibilities consist of pursuing console-level games or replacing the cable box/DVR.

Yes, but even MacRumors overhyped the rumor to the point of certainty.

Indeed. Barely a bit over a week ago.

"... In today's "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple retail stores are planning an overnight refresh on the evening of November 11, where changes will be made after closing, such as refreshing displays and placing new products for the following day.
The timing of the overnight refresh could simply be related to the holiday season, but there is a possibility that it relates to the launch of new ‌Apple TV‌ and ‌HomePod mini‌ models.
..."

So instead of a "Gurman was wrong" front page post on the 12th we get posting that completely ignores what was posted a week ago.

The stores are open on Nov 11 , but it also would be a bit goofy to do a product launch on a holiday. (even one where a substantive number of people don't get the day off. )

The overhype leads to even more front page posts to start the build cycle back up again. If the inventory keeps going down then FUD over that "it should mean new product, but it doesn't ... sky is falling. "

I'm at the point where I'm just going to look at alternatives. As much as I love the Apple TV, I do have an Android Phone, and I think it might be good to look at better speakers or streaming device. Anyone have any suggestions or tips, especially when it comes to speakers.

Really not sure what they can actually do to upgrade AppleTV. Great controller, simple and works well. What is going to be different outside of being faster? Everything else comes down to the UI.
They could start with not dumping all my video file metadata every five minutes because 'memory was running low' when it shows it still has lots of free memory.

Apple is falling behind. It’s too slow by today’s standards.
It's the drip feed that annoys me. The 'new' Apple watch! Totally redesigned with a 0.3 inch screen size increase! We think you are going to buy it because, well, er NEW AAND SHINY! The notch on your two thousand dollar mac screen is a feature! Face id on a mac? Don't be silly! We can put it in a phone though....

Just more instances of the failure of Tim Cook to get products out the door.
… eh. Apple didn’t release a product today when they didn’t say they would release it today.

What is this madness where someone randomy claims a company is going to do something, without having any factual basis to back up that claim, and then blames the company for not doing it.

You can blame Apple for mamy things, but you can’t blame Apple for your own gullibility.

If these products are announced next week, this post will look pretty silly.
Thank you for calling me an idiot, but you can get stuffed. If you’ve never heard of artificially inflated stock prices you’re living under a rock. In case you didn’t bother to read the article, the ‘timeframe’ gurman provided for one product mentioned is well overdue. Apple marketing is their own way of increasing interest, aka stock prices, and demand. So even if they are released tomorrow, the horse has bolted.

not really sure why they would release them without new Siri. She IS the new feature. otherwise they're just gonna be extremely minor boring spec bumps that aren't gonna move product.
Siri is a software feature, installable via an over the air update. They can easily include a chip capable of supporting new Siri, and enable new Siri via an over the air update like they did with the humidity and temperature sensors. They're missing the Christmas spending splurge and will release them at probably the lowest consumer spending time of the year once all those Christmas credit card bills start becoming due.

When they are constantly including processors that can just barely handle the processing tasks of the software features and animations of the device it ships with, then inevitably after one or two TV OS updates it begins to be laggy, stuttering, and jittery even navigating the menus. Apple could, of course, fix this problem by shipping it with a processor from the past few years but they of course choose not to do so.

I was going to upgrade my entire family's apple tvs for the holidays. Where is this thing?!?
Maybe Apple changed their minds about using the A17 Pro chip and that decision will delay the release of the next Apple TV until March/April of next year? It could be Apple decided to instead use some of the binned A19 Pro chips originally planned for the iPhone Air since most of them won’t be needed for the Air anymore. The addition of the A19 Pro would significantly boost graphics performance with games.

What if there was never an intention of bringing out a new Apple TV or Homepod? All we got was rumors (And several articles here but that's another story) and the word of Mark Gurman (Which, to be honest, is starting to not be much). No representative from Apple came out and said there was going to be an update to these products. I wish there was an event just talking about the home hardware though, and then they can spotlight Apple TV the streaming service. Heck, I think the closest we came to this being a reality was when they changed their name of the streaming service the same week they started announcing new products.

I expect you are right that this is the reason but personally I would buy right away if they promised that the new Siri will be supported whenever it comes out. the current mini will surely not support the new Siri so I don't want to buy that.

Highly possible that Apple is done releasing new products for the year. Expecting all these to launch by April 2026. All of them will be minor updates only.

Was after a HomePod mini considering my Echo and Apple Music don't seem to play nicely.

Looks like I will be waiting until after Christmas at this rate.

As for Apple TV I have the 3rd gen 4K model and I don't use it for gaming, so not sure if there is anything worth upgrading for.

Hi everyone, the HomePod mini isn’t available at Apple Premium Resellers here, nor on the Czech Apple website (apple.com/cz). Many resellers without an official Apple Store don’t offer the HomePod mini at all – only the Apple TV 2022. Is this a temporary supply issue, or is Apple discontinuing it in this region?

Come on guys…it took a huge team and massive resources to develop the phone sock……don’t be so unkind to poor Tim and his crew. Rome wasn’t built in a day and an upgraded ATV is a major undertaking. Sic.
