Extra wires are grossSo, extra wires are or aren’t a problem? Which is it?
You keep saying that but you dont lecture us what are those reasons....Jesus, are you trying to troll us?For the last time, no. There are very obvious reasons why white bezels are very rare in monitors, TV's, etc. It is not the market. It is not style. It is not any other reasons you keep bringing up. Goodbye.
Haha well I wish the OP would make up their mind. In one post, nobody cares about extra wires, and in the next, having an extra wire is so offensive that it is literally forcing them to buy a Bluetooth speaker… for a computer they already stated they won’t be purchasing.Extra wires are gross
I'm sorry you need to me point out the obvious reasons why white bezels are not used in these products. Take care mate. ✌️You keep saying that but you dont lecture us what are those reasons....Jesus, are you trying to troll us?
Please, lecture us what are those obvious reasons. But please let them be serious reasons
Can you post a link with a explanation why monitors and TVs have black bezels? I tried to find anything, but hadn't any luck.Nope. Has absolutely nothing to do with that. White bezels are very rare in monitors and TV's for good reason.
I'm also not screaming anything. I'm simply stating one model with a black bezel made a lot more sense than none.
Gaffer tape in every box.So many puzzling decisions by Apple with the iMac redesign.
2. ... what if you want a cheaper/smaller iMac with no white bezel? You are SOL.
I always did..But im NOT the one who said that are obvious reasons, you did....So, i bet you dont have any reasonsI'm sorry you need to me point out the obvious reasons why white bezels are not used in these products. Take care mate. ✌️
He has none...he hide behind the bush. Its clear that he open this topic to troll usCan you post a link with a explanation why monitors and TVs have black bezels? I tried to find anything, but hadn't any luck.
Is this a real question? What if i want an 50$ rose gold Dell or Samsung monitor with rose gold bezels? I am SOL right?Because the other companies has lack of imagination ?! they choose to go with the same route (black bezels) over and over again! Is like the london tailors are making the same suit, same pattern , colour and fabric over and over again, and when the italian comes after decades and do something different...oh no, its wrong...But what if you want a cheaper/smaller iMac with no white bezel? He is very emotional about a pastel iMac.Is this a real question? What if i want an 50$ rose gold Dell or Samsung monitor with rose gold bezels? How old are you man? Why did you create this topic? To hate on Apple at all cost?
""Design is subjective. Any design you encounter is the result of a number of decisions made by one or more designers and most, if not all of those decisions, carry some measure of subjectivity. Design decisions aren't absolutely right or wrong"

I'm very confident they will make the larger iMac look very different than the 24" iMac.I agree with most of your points. It looks horrible imo. Not to mention the colours look tacky as hell. Maybe I’m just an ‘old’ fart. However, I am slightly worried the 30in will be ruined as well...
For a popular device like the 24" iMac, you really should provide an option beyond something with a white bezel. It's also not about just pros. People will be watching video on these iMacs and a white bezel is terrible for that.
I was never interested in a desktop machine, but I think it’s EXACTLY what people should do (complain) when a product they were considering for purchase ends up this far off the mark.
Like the OP said, this would be far less bizarre with black bezels, uniform colors front and back, and an Apple logo on the front. Just look at the lineup - hard to argue this isn’t bizarre.
Noone is suggesting this is a failure. And no one is suggesting colors are bad. It’s the white bezels, and strange two tone that folks mention regarding colors. And the other hardware items the OP posted. No one is buying this Mac BECAUSE it has two tone colors or white bezels. Maybe because there are colors in general, but that would be true with or without the bezels or two tone. Still doesn’t explain why they don’t provide the option of the now common black and SG coloration.Did you consider the fact that there might be many more people who didn’t even have an iMac on their radar until Apple shook things up with their first colorful iMac since the G3 iMacs? People who insist they cannot buy a computer that is anything other than gray with black bezels are a very small minority of the general population.
This computer hits its mark perfectly. It’s not for everybody, nor does it pretend to be. It is an opinionated design, and doesn’t apologize for it one bit.
For those who want black computers and monitors, you can buy such things from every other computer maker on the planet. Apple has decided to stand out, once again.
People were leveling the same types of criticisms when Apple released the iMac in 1998. Funny how history is repeating itself, and the people suggesting these will be a failure will most likely be proven wrong again, over 20 years later.
But what if I hate black bezels? This. I personally hate white bezels. I understand that some people like them which is fine.
What is not fine is that there is no choice.
Then you would be very happy 😊. I didn't say the bezels should all be black. I said there should be a choice. But what if I hate black bezels?
Did you say the same the last 13 years, when there were only black bezels to choose from? Then you would be very happy 😊. I didn't say the bezels should all be black. I said there should be a choice.
It seems to me that people use the sad and angry faces as placeholders for the dislike/disagree button, since MacRumors decided people can't take a thumbs-down on the discussion forums.Silver is not a pastel color.
EDIT: And apparently that makes some people "angry"LOL!!!
Sure there is a choice. Almost every single computer for sale today has black bezels. If a black bezel is that important to you, the new iMac isn’t for you.This. I personally hate white bezels. I understand that some people like them which is fine.
What is not fine is that there is no choice.
What is bizarre about white bezels? People keep saying it, and maybe I’ve missed it, but I haven’t seen any reasons. I cannot recall anybody saying about the iMac G4 or G5 that the white bezels were bizarre.Noone is suggesting this is a failure. Still doesn’t explain why they don’t provide the option of the now common black and SG coloration.
I was primarily suggesting a macrumors forum IS the location to voice your dislike of a design. Design is an opinion.
What you aren’t apparently listening to is that the OP is simply saying this is bizarre. And it unquestionably is at the moment when looking at other devices in the lineup. The white bezels alone are bizarre as that was a thing that Mr Ive preferred on mobile devices and apple had left that design years ago.
I’m guessing the “pro” versions will look different but who knows. Maybe this is the new direction with all new MacBooks and macs.
I think this was deliberate to appeal to the very low end market who just wants something fun while their more expensive macs will be more iPad Pro colored - In part to upsell folks.
We will see.
I agree that Apple made some very bizarre decisions with this new iMac. The back and sides of it look fine to me, but who cares when 99.9% of the time you're staring at the front and that looks awful. A near bezelless front like iPad pro with the same back would have looked 100 times better. The white bezels and big empty chin look terrible. It's overpriced, the ports are a joke, the RAM is a joke. The whole thing is pathetic. This iMac is a perfect example of why I no longer buy Apple products. So many puzzling decisions by Apple with the iMac redesign.
1. White bezels are terrible for content consumption. If you use dark mode it's going to make the bezels stick out so much. There is a reason just about no monitor, TV, etc, is white these days. Yes I'm aware Apple used white bezels back in the day. No I don't think that's a good reason to use them again. They could have either matched the bezels with the colors of the machine, gone with silver, or used less pastel colors. At the very least offer the silver model with a black bezel.
2. Yes, the bigger future iMacs will look very different. But what if you want a cheaper/smaller iMac with no white bezel? You are SOL.
3. The chin looks bigger without the logo. It also looks like an unfinished product without it.
4. The ports on the base model are pathetic. No ethernet unless you pay for it on the power brick or get the next up model. Two USB 4/Thunderbolt ports and nothing more is a joke for a machine that starts at $1,300.
5. The power brick is embarrassing. The whole appeal of the iMac is that it is an all-in-one device. A power brick is such a junky addition.
6. Headphone jack on the side sucks if you use wired speakers.
7. This obsession with thinness on a desktop makes no sense to me. Other than taking an iMac to the Apple store for service, who cares how light your iMac is? I'd rather have a thicker iMac and not have a power brick, not have a headphone jack on the side, and potentially not have a chin either.
8. 8 GB of RAM is really cutting it close and not very future-proof. My iMac struggles at times and I'm a light user with the same amount of RAM. Luckily I can manually update mine if needed. Not the case for this model of course.
9. The look of this iMac itself is very polarizing. Pastels combined with white bezels is a bold choice of course but with such choices you are going to turn off a lot of consumers looking for something less bold and/or more professional. Another reason why a silver/black bezel model would have made sense as an option.
