I like it. Very sleek, modern, and pretty darn cool. Though I imagine a lot of purists (i.e., the same people who hated the MacBook keyboard) will HATE this one too.

Edit: After looking at the galleries properly... I think it's stunning. I never thought a keyboard could be so beautiful.

very nice, i like the look of it.

and the macbook keyboard is probably the best keyboard i've used, even compared to regular keyboards. so i'll be buying one!

I wonder if there is something on the flip-side.

Multi-touch panel?

Or I could just look at the gallery and confirm that I'm an idiot

I don't believe those pictures. The guy that posted those pictures on flickr took the time to edit those pictures with photoshop 7.0 after he made them with his nikon camera. He also forgot to remove the guides in the photoshop file he created to edit his pics in.

I like it because I'm used to the laptop keyboards and whenever I want to use an external one the typing feels clunky. It think it will be great to have a usb keyboard with the same feel as my MB. Cheers, T

I like it. Looks authentic, you can see it's been taken with a camera as there's chromatic aboration nearer the edge of the image.

I'd be happy with that as a keyboard design though. Finally some iTunes controls on the keyboard...

Yum! Although why do they have to go back to the ports at the side again? Argh! The one on the left is too far for a right handed mouse user to use and the one on the right leaves you with too much cable!!!

I calling genuine on these.

It looks gorgeous!

Can't wait to try one out. If it feels good to use and the angle isn't too flat, I'll definitely get one.

For all those people who haven't realised they have moved around quite a fre keys and even removed a few, namely volume keys and eject keys.

At first I didn't like the idea of white mixed with ally.. But looking through the rest of the pics I can see myself liking it more and more.

Now, what does the rest of the set look like?

Illuminated keys? Hope so.

I just noticed that the cmd, cntrl and option keys have their names written rather than having a funny mark for each.

It's probably a good idea for new users, if someone is giving them instructions over the phone or something.

Wonder what that means for the signs used for keyboard short cuts on the menus in Leopard

I love it. But on the image of the back of the keyboard, it says "Not cosmetic unit" So, I'm thinking that something else (cosmetics) will be added onto the keyboard. But, I would NOT mind how it is.

Doesn't make sense

Take a second and look at the key labels. They've removed the Apple logo from the command keys and replaced them with the words "Command" - I doubt it. The volume keys are shared with the Exposé functions as well? That spells horrible experience for new users. At least on the laptops, the F1-F8 keys are generally not used for anything so putting the media keys there works well. There is no way they made that move.

And no USB ports? Really Apple?

I don't believe it. If it's real, god help us, they're keyboards are getting worse by the year. At least sell it for only $20 so it's no so damn painful to keep replacing them. My problem with their last two keyboards is the quality. I literally was replacing my Apple keyboard annually, until I bought a Matias Tactile Pro. C'mon Apple, give us a keyboard that lasts!

I took that to mean that the unit is actually functional, not *simply* a cosmetic unit.

Definitely some sort of design prototype or pre-production unit, but probably legit. Looks nice. Reminds me of my current slimline desktop keyboard in terms of proportion (thickness, angle).

I do wish it were backlit, though.

Oh come on... I found the photos on flickr way before engadget posted them. They even deleted my comment on their story with the link, then used the photos in their gallery.

I created an account here just to respond to this because the same thing happened to me, albeit more personal.

When I bought an iPhone on day 1, I had the first unboxing pictures up on Flickr minutes after 6pm Eastern time, even before Engadget posted their pics. Someone actually posted a link of my set to Engadget's comments. Within an hour, the comment was deleted. I emailed Ryan about it and he said it was flagged as spam. I call BS, and they are just trying to protect the traffic to their site.

I love reading Engadget, but actions like that are uncalled for and frankly p*ss me off.
