Ordered a 27" i7/m395x/512 SSD on 10/27. It shipped yesterday and is arriving later today from California to Oregon. Don't know how I got lucky with such a quick turnaround time.
Interesting, I ordered the exact same spec...Exactly including the swap to Magic Trackpad on the 19th and mine is delayed now to Nov 4-6...originally Oct 29-Nov 2....I'm calling Apple tomorrow to rip them a new one. Just for fun as it will get me nowhere...maybe a few tweets tonight to Timmy and the other execs will get my frustration across...again just for fun...I don't really care when the thing gets here....just seems unfair to me...that is all.....
And I agree with your last point about the allocations....it is a flawed system Apple uses with these different supply areas...as I said in an earlier post, Apple's history on logistics is very poor. They should really fire the whole lot and rehire people that know what they are doing in the year 2015.
Yes Canada is somehow getting screwed over this time...I thought we would just be part of the overall US queue but obviously not. The poster from Calgary ordered the same as me and already has his shipping but in the other thread he mentioned he bought through a corporate account so that is likely given priority in my experience. I am going to call Apple this morning and make sure they are going to ship via a method that won't go ground up to Whitehorse like UPS. With my recent iPhone 6s+ order it flew on planes all the way to Calgary and then took 3-4 days on a truck to get here. If they ship Fedex it will go Air from Vancouver to me.
I'm almost tempted to just order another one now that the preauthorized charge on my card expired and cancel the one that doesn't ship first. The whole way the order system works is through a computerized algorithm - not sure what the parameters are, but I was told as much when I phoned them again today. They can't call or communicate with the manufacturing plants in any way. I was basically told, that if mine doesn't ship by November 4th, it will be delayed again, and the only thing I can try at that point is to cancel my order, re-order and hope I get in a better queue at a different plant.
It really is luck of the draw.
I feel the same way, but I worry that my location would put me in the same qeue and at the back of the line.I'm almost tempted to just order another one now that the preauthorized charge on my card expired and cancel the one that doesn't ship first.
Actually, I read what you said wrong. Thats an interesting idea. You are a clever man.I feel the same way, but I worry that my location would put me in the same qeue and at the back of the line.
Update: I ordered mine 3 hours after it was released. It finally shipped on Wednesday and arrived today. Too bad I won't be able to see it till Sunday night since I am home for reading week. Gonna be a long 48 hours. Mine was a BTO and also shipped from California.
My experience was similar. 3.3/2tb For my trouble record New magic trackpad and the Superdrive for $20 each due there screw up. I ended up walking into Bestbuy picking one up the very same day it was unloaded off the truck. Refused shipment on the iMac from Apple but being they sent the goodies as separate order. I still received those items and kept them both!! They screwed up these orders for these new iMac'sIt's almost 4am here and I'm 'still preparing for shipment'. Today is the last day of the window. I'm having doubts that it will get here before noon, even though I was assured by Apple x3 times yesterday that it's on schedule. Support won't open for 4 more hours and AppleCare refused to assist me, saying its not technical support and they don't have access to the information I'm looking for. I woke up specifically so I could pre sign, but it's turned into loss of sleep.![]()
I did this too. Ended up purchasing from local BestbuyI just wish Apple would could have been honest with me yesterday when I inquired about when my mac would be shipped. Had I known it wouldn't come today, I would not have requested Today and tomorrow off work, but Monday and Tuesday instead. Argh.
