I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I have insider info that's going to blow you guys away. I can't openly say it so I'll leave you with this... C****s! I'm 90% sure I'm right on this!

If you knew anything you would tell us for the bragging rights. This post was only designed to annoy people.

Does anyone think its feasible for Apple to switch display panels from TN to anything decent.

Wouldn't it be suicide if Apple insists on TN panels in the coming revision given the criticisms they've undergone in addition to the class-action lawsuit??

Given the price of RAM, I'd rather that they stick with 1GB. A 4GB upgrade is $100, and I'd rather have $25 of that back in reduced price. With 2Gb, you're just throwing away twice as much memory.

I agree. The very first thing I do with a new iMac is to buy 4GB of memory and upgrade to the max.

What I would like to see is a max of 8GB supported.

humm... i like guessing games, but why can't you "openly" say it? and how do you have insider info? what's your connection?

C****s == Colors? (not sure new aluminum colors are going to "blow me away")

Looks like no new video cards, no matte screen option, nothing but predictable speed bumps. Oh well, one it's updated it's a new Mini for me then.

guess the only hope left is if they get early exclusivity on the montivina platform... or at least a new Mighty Mouse... i can deal with a boring Penryn speed bump if the mighty mouse is new.

I think a new Mighty Mouse is far more likely than Montevina. Either very slow significant updates or simply minor updates seems to be the Apple way in recent years.

If there's no new graphics card in the upcoming iMacs, then there's no new iMac for me! I don't care if they offer a BTO option, as long as I can get a better graphics card than the current models!

I just ordered an iMac for my parents as they can't do without a computer for any longer. Hopefully it'll be a new version!

I for one completely agree. My RAM is maxxed out too but would love to see it with 8. However, two 4GB modules costs £400+ which is quite steep. Still - if it offered much better performance I would go for it.

Colours - seven letters not six... wink wink ;)

there's a better card in there, 512
There's no 512 option yet.

Looks like it :(
Well I will save a lot of money buying a pc from overclockers I guess. Really wanted an iMac though.

Apple is slow with platforms...

The pattern has been for Apple to jump to a new platform chipsets months after the other vendors. (Stoakley, Santa Rosa...)

The Imac's still a Merom....

Meh...if there's one thing i've learned from Apple, its that even if they introduce new GPUs, chances are it'll suck compared to the previous gen...due to sucky drivers. Might be a blessing in disguise that they're sticking with a mature X2600 Pro (XT)

Still not quite right...

More than a press release:

"Steve Jobs introduced the iMac on May 6, 1998, in the Flynt Auditorium [sic] at the De Anza Community College down the street from Apple's campus in Cupertino to a full house."

(It's called the "Flint Center", not "Flynt Auditorium"...)
