The original MacBook was one exception (only one I can think of) though.
Yeah, it was odd that no event was held for the introduction of the MacBook. I guess Jobs doesn't care for plastic.

Wow! I guess January 27 may be a likely release date!
In the long run...in the long run...what could this mean? It probably means that waiting a few days for a better model would prove better because you would be using the better iMac for several years. But I have this feeling* that the statement means a little more than that, maybe a significant feature addition to the iMac line. That seemed odd, as it is the stock model, advertised to ship in 24 hours. I called Apple to inquire about the delay, and my regional rep (east coast) said that, "the delay would be well worth it in the long run, if you catch my meaning."
Apple innuendo is so delightful! I smell an updated iMac soon!
Not for speed bumps or incremental upgrades. For new case designs, speed bumps and incremental upgrades ... yes.
It doesn't look like much is changing other than we might get Core 2 Quads and new NVIDIA graphics (and logic boards).

Better not get our hopes up though.
I'd say the 30" displays are for the ACD line, and the 22" and 26" could be for the iMac. If true and they go in the iMac, that would mean better cooling for the rumored 65 W CPUs. Also this would mean that Apple might do a slight case design change not unlike what happened with the Front Row iMac...I read (on a forum) Apple ordered a huge amount of 22",26" and 30" displays from LG, this could mean a slightly redesigned case, especially if the processors are more powerful.
*slaps forehead*Considering Jan 27th has already passed........

What... is the point of a 22" or 26" display? It's just bigger pixels. It's stupid.

If the iMac is released next week, does that mean that the mac mini will also be released at the same time?
Wont happen anytime soon.Worst Case - the 20" Is Discontinued.
*fixed previous post*Hate to break it to you but today is the 29th.
I could see an update on the 3rd of February, a Tuesday. If there isn't one then then I will get the current iMac and return it if needed.

I'd say if these reports are true, February 3 seems most likely. Unless Apple's doing some sort of a special release.
