This year's Super Bowl will be the 25th anniversary of Apple's first ad for the Mac (if you look at the Super Bowl event, rather than the date of the Super Bowl)

coincidence? i doubt it

25th anniversary iMac FTW!

That seemed odd, as it is the stock model, advertised to ship in 24 hours. I called Apple to inquire about the delay, and my regional rep (east coast) said that, "the delay would be well worth it in the long run, if you catch my meaning."

Apple innuendo is so delightful! I smell an updated iMac soon!
In the long run...in the long run...what could this mean? It probably means that waiting a few days for a better model would prove better because you would be using the better iMac for several years. But I have this feeling* that the statement means a little more than that, maybe a significant feature addition to the iMac line.

Not for speed bumps or incremental upgrades. For new case designs, speed bumps and incremental upgrades ... yes.

It doesn't look like much is changing other than we might get Core 2 Quads and new NVIDIA graphics (and logic boards).

I read (on a forum) Apple ordered a huge amount of 22",26" and 30" displays from LG, this could mean a slightly redesigned case, especially if the processors are more powerful.

I'd say the 30" displays are for the ACD line, and the 22" and 26" could be for the iMac. If true and they go in the iMac, that would mean better cooling for the rumored 65 W CPUs. Also this would mean that Apple might do a slight case design change not unlike what happened with the Front Row iMac...

...and keeping the Front Row iMac analogy, maybe a new feature? :D

Considering Jan 27th has already passed........
*slaps forehead*

Anyway, they did release the last update in early April... so maybe a release early in the month isn't off the charts.

While I think an "I'm a Mac" birthday commercial would be very funny, I don't know if that's more likely or something more "epic" along the lines of the 84 commercial.

Very interesting if there is a possibility of 22" and 26" iMacs to replace the current lineup. Honestly, the 22" could be better since the 24" is large as it is!

Hate to break it to you but today is the 29th.

I could see an update on the 3rd of February, a Tuesday. If there isn't one then then I will get the current iMac and return it if needed.
*fixed previous post*

I'd say if these reports are true, February 3 seems most likely. Unless Apple's doing some sort of a special release.

If Feb 3rd happens I'll have to look at the system & see if it is worth getting. It will be within my 14 day return time. If not I will just get the cash difference & keep my 24" if mine dropped in price, lol.

Sweet Im really feeling like the release will in fact be in February. Lets just hope it is!!
