Sigh... I can already hear Apple going "battery life is the same because our A10 is energy efficient" n **** like that.

No, no and again no. You start putting in a much, MUCH bigger battery than what we currently have. What we currently have is laughable for the phone's size.

Samsung listens to its customers with the S7, and then Apple just ignores them and does the complete opposite. Are they serious?

First off... these are rumors... second, it's obvious that Apple ignores it's user base — it's why they're so successful.

BTW... you can gain battery life in other ways besides throwing in a bigger battery. Lower energy parts, better power management, or maybe a even a battery case with an odd hump on it? :D All things that could enhance the battery life.

People are complaining about apple' s obsession by thinness. Because they are going to add a case anyway.
But I like my iPhone thin with a case.

But that case argument does solve another problem:
Don' t complain so much about the bulge of the lens , if you add a case, you won' t notice.
It works both ways , you know.

But I hope the additional battery cap is used to power a new and higher res display.

Plus, not checking the stupid Facebook and Snapchat every 30 seconds helps ;)

No it is not. I bet there is no air pocket or empty space in the 6 or 6s.
So for current size and thickness of the iPhone Apple has the largest battery available.
Thickness is also a size.
All is relative....

Prepare to be disappointed. It will likely only come with a set of Lightning earbuds. Not a 3.5mm adapter, or BT EarPods.

I would gladly lose the headphone jack for more battery capacity. And I wouldn't rule out two cameras for the 7, or some other improvements they need extra space for. I'm not thrilled about the 2nd speaker rumor, since I'd rather see the headphone jack stay instead, but it really all depends on how the internal arrangement lays out, and what they are offering in return.
Apple made that mistake with the first iPhone and the recessed headphone jack. The iPhone wasn't even that popular yet and people complained for days about it. Time marches on, etc etc, but I don't think Apple would gamble that big on their biggest money maker and risk pissing off hundreds of millions of people upgrading who no longer can use any of their (sometimes expensive) headphones. This is really going to be a defining moment for Apple so they better not mess it up. There's little else in tech that riles people up like limiting them and requiring them to purchase extra adapters, especially just to do something as basic as listening to music. As it is, Apple Music has been a little slow out of the gate. This would only hurt that effort. They have to be smart about it. At 6.1mm it's technically able to fit the jack—I mean isn't that the same thickness as the iPod Touch? So they better have a good reason ready as well as a solution. They bought Beats—put those engineers to use! People on the forums swear that their headphones have gotten better over the past year. I still haven't tried them again.

Yes, make the next iPhone thinner so that more internals protrude through the back of the device. We've got the ugly protruding camera, why not a protruding camera flash or a protruding ambient light sensor or even a protruding accelerometer. A ripple of bumps and lumps on that casing. NO! No more case thinness until the internal components are thinned first.

and days later

That's good insight! I didn't consider that.
Yes it is! And next year Apple will offer a true wireless charging case.(not that charging mat stuff, but true wireless).
Apple won' t put this revolution wireless charging tech in the iPhone itself. It would take too much room and Certification of such a wireless charging iPhone would hold up the release of the iPhone 7s.
They will offer a case that allows for wireless charging through the smartconnector.
You' ll have to pay extra, Apple style!

Well maybe a gain of .43 watts plus A10 might mean 1-2 more hours of battery life - will see
Exactly. People seem to be wound up over battery size and thickness, when there are many things that make up how long the phone will run. I am less concerned about the battery size (although it has influence obviously) than I am about phone duration. Today I almost always get through the day without charging the phone. But if I forget to charge it overnight I am screwed the next day.

What I want is a phone I never need to charge during the day and that can work until I get into the office the next day if I forgot to recharge overnight. Make it as thin as you want, but please meet this requirement.

oltage is not visible on the alleged iPhone 7 battery, so the exact charge capacity is not yet available, but should be similar to the iPhone 6 battery.

That's not how it works!

Battery capacity is measured in Wh, not in mAh, which is wrong.

I agree with this. I have a 6S Plus and have no intention of upgrading. If there were a slight desire to do so, that was killed due to headphone jack rumors.

If the rumors are true, I'm sure Apple will release an adapter (probably priced at $39 which is just obnoxious).

Apple has a vision for what they want for iPhone in the future. By making the each generation product thinner they challenge their engineers. While, Samsung's Galaxy phones are kinda just a frankensteins monster. Doesn't really have future.
I see that you've really been taken in by Apple's marketing. I couldn't care less about Apple challenging their engineers in useless ways such as making it even thinner than it already is.

Agreed. Giving the customers what they want should be a top priority. Obviously you can't please everybody, but I am quite sure that at this point a thinner phone isn't at the top of everyone's wish list.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Apple loves to make money from accessories.

The iPhone 7 is the optimal thinness. No one wants a phone to be thinner. I know we've said that about every previous iPhone, but this time it's really true. Rather than making the iPhone 8 thinner, Apple should keep the perfect thickness of the iPhone 7, and use the extra space to increase battery life.

It definitely makes more sense than Apple implementing this expensive , big ,first gen tech in a thin iPhone that is already cramped.
And it will add revenue instead of extra costs.

By then, Apple will perhaps release an iPhone that has a foldable screen and can fold out to become an iPad sized display. And that is the time their obsession and knowledge for creating thin designs will actually become useful.
This obsession for thin, seems quite annoying now, but it will also be very useful for Apple when they are developing AR and VR headsets that are thin, lightweight, more pleasant to use.

The battery lists a capacity of 7.04 watt-hours, slightly larger in capacity than the equivalent battery capacity listed for the iPhone 6s (6.61 watt-hours) and almost identical to the iPhone 6 (7.01 watt-hours). Voltage is not visible on the alleged iPhone 7 battery, so the exact charge capacity is not yet available, but should be similar to the iPhone 6 battery.
Watt hours is the relevant number-- the amount of energy stored. If you knew the voltage, you could figure out the amp hours but the only reason you want those numbers is so you can multiply them back together and get the Watt hours.

Since voltage will not be constant through the discharge cycle, a straight multiplication of nominal voltage by milliamp hours isn't strictly the same as Watt hours-- so knowing the energy capacity is a more useful metric.

Is there some reason it can't have all those things? Water resistant, wireless charging, bigger battery, OLED. This is Apple, why do we have to settle again??

Imagine trying to fold something as thick as an iPhone 4.

The idea that the iPhone 7 will have 256GB of storage is obviously nonsense. The iPad introduced the 128GB a full 19 months before the iPhone did. Since no iPad has a 256GB option yet, it seems safe to say that the iPhone 7 will also not have a 256GB option. 256GB could be introduced to the iPhone with either the iPhone 7S or the iPhone 8.

I thought most of the battery drain was from the screen. Increase in CPU efficiency % is not directly proportional to an increase in battery life %. And I'm definitely hoping for a higher resolution screen, otherwise the 7 will be pretty lame for a (presumably) late 2016 flagship device.
