Won't apologize for being pedantic but... Most USB devices do not have USB-A (thumb drives are an obvious exception). USB-A is the host side connector. Devices use USB-B (micro is the most common) and USB-C. I do not use USB-A much as I have USB-C to USB-B cables. The only cables I have with USB-A connectors are ones I have not thrown out yet. USB-A was a horrible connector and can not go away fast enough.
Which Macs have USB-B connectors on them?

Personally, I'm glad they are bigger (thicker) and heavier than the previous versions. I know not by much, but the trend of being "thinner and lighter" was actually a turn-off for me. Based on the dimensions listed on their website, it seems this is closer in size to the 2013 15" rMBP (which is basically the perfect size imo).

You don't think macOS will be notch aware and move these items accordingly?
They should, but it’s still lost space, plus I dunno how apple would handle excessive menu bar menus. Current solution is just omitting menu bar icons in favour of menu items. I suspect they will do the same with the notch.

I ordered a 14”. I’m not a huge fan of the notch because I utilize the whole menu bar, however I am a massive fan of the unit, and it’s gigantic improvements in general.

I’m not sure what the gripes are about the form factor - for the 14” it’s smaller in height than the 13”.

Also 3.5 pounds for a computer that can work as hard as this - if folks don’t like the weight there is the MBA, which is an awesome computing device.
My 14” iBook G4 was 5.9 pounds. It felt a bit chunky and heavy but not horrible. 3.5 lb is crazy light by comparison.

Design could be better. It looks like a Walmart $300 special if it wasn't for the logo.

Well, that’s a nice to have, but not a big sales point, i see this more as a normal technological progress.
PCs and Razer Gaming Laptops are already at 240hz.
Which one has 4K 240hz , it’s either 4K or 240hz 1080? Or at least that’s what i saw so far

I am getting MBP M1 13" 16/256. Notch is just the worst!
My current machine is the M1 13" with 16/2TB and its hands down the best laptop I've ever had. I had the 2017 Intel 13" MBP before and the difference with the M1 is night and day. Laptop never really gets warm, fan is off unless I am absolutely thrashing the machine (usually doing heavy duty CFD stuff). Battery is also much improved and it genuinely lasts the day for me.

I said earlier, it would be great if Apple kept this form factor alive and put a M1 Pro or even M1 Max in it, but I think that's probably asking too much!

I think the keyboard background change is not very pretty. Plasticky keyboard background is cheapish looking and flimsy.

I know Apple probably did this to make keyboard replaceable without changing the top case assembly entirely, which was expensive for Apple.

I also wished that Apple would ditch Aluminium and opt for Titanium.

I think it is nice, but it looks like an old Titanium PowerBook G4...

Yes it’s QHD, it makes no sense to run 4k on a 15”,16”,17” display for gaming, except to get a higher PPI while working. As i said, i see this all as a normal technological progress, nothing fancy.
My current 144hz triple 4k display setup is also nothing special, i hardly notice the difference between 60hz and 144hz.

too bad the people who allegedly needed hdmi that badly didnt buy a single cable or dongle to solve this apparently pressing problem in *5 years*
I stayed with a 2015 mbp to avoid dongle hell. I ordered in flight Wi-Fi last Monday to make sure I could order a 2021 just in case orders opened after the debut. Orders opened immediately and so did my wallet.

Peoples taste vary, but the pastel iMacs look like a range of Macs designed for your daughters bedroom. Some of us want the iMac to look like a business machine, which again, some of us use them for.
The silver one and the blue one still fit the bill for a business machine. I’m not sure what makes black and Space Grey any more “professional” or business like as the computer is simply a tool for work or pleasure.

I really hope they don't ever omit touch ID for just face ID. Using the iPad Pro in my lap with the magic keyboard is a pain constantly pulling the entire device forward so it can read my face.

Partner was just considering that she'd be unable to use the case she uses with her 2015 15" - but the difference in size is marginal. So that saves a few pounds.

Anyone any idea why the menubar continues even under the notch? Why not just have it the exact same height?
Maybe it has to do with the rest of the screen area being exactly 16:10? But then, WHY didn't they make the screen those 3 or 4 pixels less high, to have the menubar and notch be the exact same height... Or is it aesthetics? Would it look weird if they were the same height? Ok. Many questions nobody really knows the answers to. Any guesses though?

I want a new 16" MBP with M1 Pro. Just imagine being able to connect an external monitor to a high end Mac notebook with respectable graphics and not having it turn into a convection oven with fans running full blast. I currently have a 2016 15" capable of baking small cookies in the area above the Touch Bar when my 4K external monitor is attached.

I think these things look great based on the images I have seen. And having a notch -- while still having full 16x10 real estate under it -- is way better than a fat bezel in my opinion.
