The looks don't evoke any emotion, good or bad, for me. However, these devices are a hard pass for me because of weight and form factor. The limit in terms of form factor for are the current 13" MacBooks. The limit is terms of weight is 3 lb. I hope the MBA is released sooner than later and it doesn't have a display that causes headaches for me.

Definitely has a Not-Jony-Ive look to them. There was something special about this designs because it did things other companies would not. Sure, the other companies would always try to imitate aftwards but Jonys designs were worthy of being copied. This is just what one would expect from a surface laptop or something. Except the notch, they would not come up with that first and I am sure they will try to go the opposite way to show how much better they are.

I must say I am not loving the design that much [chunky + the notch], but will reserve judgement for when I see and test it in real life soon. Lucky we have the return window.

Glad I ordered the silver this time - I think it will look sharper than the space grey.

I actually prefer the Surface Laptop Studio design to the new MBP..... as far as I am concerned far more innovative design in terms of aesthetics and function.

I don’t get all the hating on the design.

This Mac is exactly what professionals have been clamoring for. Many had given up Apple would ever listen. It prioritizes performance over everything. It provides pro interfaces and display. Apple for too long ignored needs of customers, and it finally listened And built a pro machine. And even with all this power,it’s still an iconic Mac.

if you want svelt and fanless and notch less, get an Air. They are incredibly powerful too. Apple is not forcing you into a specific choice any longer, it’s providing real choice.

Every pro I know is excited and in disbelief over these new pro Portables. Apple is going to sell a ton of them.

I think there is little to love in it. Not hate, just not love, and sort of feel, whatever..... Its fine for what it is, but I have always loved Apple designs, and now I don't as there is no elegance.

The new design is inferior to the 2016 macbook pro design. The only things I like are the thinner bezels, the removal of the touch bar and return of the magsafe. I don't like the raised bottom feet, fat rounded design, the black keyboard well, the vent cutout on the rear hinge, and obnoxious macbook pro logo on the centre of the rear panel. The 2016 era design w/ tapered bottom and top was in a league of its own. They need to bring that design back for the next redesign.

Yeah, the new keyboard design is fresh. It's as fresh as my 2007 Toshiba Satellite. ?

That looks nothing like the MBP.

Not sure they were prioritizing form over function this time around. Which is what most people were asking for.

I have a 2019 13" MBP with 4 Thunderbolt ports. I love the thin design, but this model will not work with an XDR Display. The 13" Intel model from 2020 is the same form factor and works with the XDR. I certainly thought about selling the 2019 version for the 2020 version but then I still have an Intel machine and the future is obviously Apple Silicon. While I am giving up what I think is a better industrial design and form factor, the speed and future advantages of the M1 Pro are a better choice.

My 14" MBP arrives Nov 5-10.

I have a 14” on order because rendering is going to be amazingly quicker. But I will say the aesthetics are some what surprisingly inconsistent. Mostly I’m referring to the bottom chassis having a rounded edge while the top is squared off. That’s odd in pictures.

Like my old TiBook from about 2002.

I know I'm in the extreme minority here and most of you will consider this trolling but I absolutely love my 2018 mbp's design keyboard and Touch Bar included. I'm holding off from upgrading until I physically see one Monday.

I have a maxed out Intel 16" from 2019. And I don't think I am ready to give up Windows VM support. And I don't want to use ARM Windows. But I do like the concept of running iPad apps on the new Macbook Pros.

I was undecided between the two sizes and eventually decided to go with the 14" inch model.

Honestly, these new MacBooks are kinda ugly but I'm sure they will grow on me.

Should sell well until the M2 MacBook Pro is released mid-2022, at which time, sales will very-likely Stall out BIG time !

The M2 MacBook Pro will simply be a much better fit for 99.9% of Apple consumers.

Why do you think that this would not work with an XDR monitor? These will work with 2 XDR displays if you have the bucks

Looking forward to what the 2022/2023 MBA's will bring if they take design cues from the new MB Pros..
Maybe a 14" Air, with thin bezels, thin body with Thunderbolt 4 ports, magsafe and possibly add a SD card slot (Wishful thinking)
