There is one thing I observed... Apple is often criticized by community members. Some even go and say that "I won't buy it unless this and that". But I'm pretty sure these persons end up buying it anyways, when they realize that "it's not that bad after all".

I suguest you take a look at the past of apple's products. The iPhone is in need for a redesign.
its a prototype. Plus it may be part of interchangeable bezzels that allow you to change the color on the fly.

One explanation that I've read before is that it breaks the metal side into discrete pieces, each one functioning as an antenna for a specific technology (GSM voice, 3G data, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.).
I don't know from an electrical engineering perspective if that's plausible, though it's decidedly less nutty than some of the other "theories" I've encountered here and elsewhere.
Eh :/ still not feeling it. I feel a nexus one actually. It is too squarery to be a phone. Seems like a old nokia brick phone, are we stepping back? First Apple has square prototypes and now AT&T is stepping back?
It better offer some great features or Nexus One or 3GS here I come. I wish 4.0 Would have brought widgets, but theres still hope widgets are probably iPhone HD only. *Preys the new iPhone won't look like this* What will Apple say June 7th? What will SJ say at his keynote. Ok guys here's the phone. Today we have gizmodo on hand to present it for you since they already did.

Whatever happened to the rumor that the casing was going to be ceramic instead of plastic or metal? I haven't bothered to delve into every one of these rumors/postings, but that one was interesting as a way to address RF interference and the aforementioned aging issues.

No, this phone will look good. A change from the current Iphone which is also a very nice design but outdated. People want new looks to distinguish them from older phones and it worked out nicely imo.
The idea that anyone would want to pay artificially inflated prices for ANYTHING is beyond me. At the same time, why don't we stop shopping Amazon for books so we can support "mom and pop" book shops, stop using heavy equipment to build roads and issue more laborers shovels to boost employment, or block out the sun so candle makers can have more work (to borrow an example from Bastiat). No offense bud but comments like this reflect an epidemic of econimic ignorance in this country, including in our politicians.
I, for one, am grateful that electronics are one area the government doesn't regulate heavily and can therefore enjoy the fruits of ever falling prices, which is what free markets always trend toward.

Will sell well in Japan
I was in Tokyo last week. I was surprised how many people there have white phones (which seems to be an unusual color in the USA). I had previously read the article here about 10 days ago where there was a leak of a set of alleged white iphone parts, implying that this would be an option. So I conducted an informal survey: as I sat in a bar in suburban Tokyo (not the center), I counted white phones as they went by: Result: about a third of all phones were white.
So I concluded that someone at Apple Marketing had done a good job, passing along that this could be a popular option.
PS I was also surprised that nearly 100% of phones I saw were large flip phones with very large screens

I'd say that "IBM" made computers in an Apple beige, used in the Apple ][ and Macintosh. That color was replaced in the ][ GS, the Portable and the Mac SE in favor of a "platinum." That platinum color survived somewhere in the Mac lineup until the era of the Bondi iMac and PowerMac began.

Just waiting for the nitwits to start wailing about screws or seams. Or how white is a terrible color (as if they aren't going to have a choice). Or the sharp edges. Or the lack of OLED. Or the lack of a Mac Pro refresh...
Well if Apple keeps to form and makes the different colors different sizes, then there isn't much choice beyond what you make a priority (color or size).
I expect the 4gen to mirror the 3Gs, with white being low end, and black being high end (space-wize).
basically, if you want MAX space you can't have white.
(This is fine by me since IMO, white+silver=fugly.)

Na. They want this one to surpass the google phones. They will want every possible feature to be on all models. Limited features is suicide.
3GS will die. the new 4th gen iPhone will have a whole new look.

I looked at the Froyo features. Not really all that impressed. Hotspot was the onlything that looked interesting...but I seriously can't see using my phone as a hot spot. Can you even talk on your phone and be a hotspot at the same time. How ridiculous is that as a feature.
go to froyo.. not all phones are for all people - its personal preference, but i don't want to hear your moaning about seams and un-applely

Yeah, Japan absolutely loves white electronics and appliances. Not only that, most sports cars are white. I too have a White iPhone, definitely prefer it over black.
Black cars in Japan are historically associated with the yakuza (mafia).
Just sayin'.
White is considered a "clean" color in Japan, and there's no aesthetic value more important there than cleanliness.

Looks kinda like the ipod video 5G. Not a bad thing. I like how its made from aluminum and glass. Highly recyclable and profitable. Aluminum is .70 to $1.25/pound, glass probably .05/pound. Better be arsenic/lead/pcb/and bromide free! I am embracing the seams now. It's obvious this has a shock absorption purpose for drops, and possibly aid in reception somehow. I also hope they bump up to 160GB models. I **** 64GB for breakfast these days..
