how about a MBA m2?

Fall 2022 for the M2 MacBook...

fall is end of year isn't it ? like q4 !

The time you spent typing this question into a forum reply could have also been spent typing the same question into Google, but some folks just demand spoon-feeding...

If they can bring the Mac Mini M1 Pro in at the current Intel model price of $1099 (remembering the current base level MacBook Pro M1 Pro is $1999) would that make it the best value computer on the planet? And will they hit that price point?

Expect a two hundred dollar increase due to going from 8GB of RAM to 16GB of RAM as the base line...

Base Mac mini (Pro) - M1 Pro SoC / 8-core CPU (6P/2E) / 14-core GPU / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / Gigabit Ehternet - US$1299

Hoping the 2022 iPad Pro will be part of the lineup. It usually is for these spring events. My 2018 IPP is getting a bit long in the tooth.

I would expect a new iPad Pro would have the M2 SoC, therefor would debut alongside the new M2 MacBook in the Fall of 2022...

Hoping that when the new Mini drops, both the M1 Pro and M2 variants are released.

I would expect all & any M2 SoC powered Macs or iPad Pros to debut no sooner than Fall of 2022...

I had the same thought but I think what apple will do is that the spring event will be mac-focused to give the iMac and possible the emac mini the spotlight. The iPad and iPhone SE, since they’re really just spec bumps, are most likely going to be announced via press release instead. Then again, it’s possible that’s the SE and iPad get an honourable mention at the start of the event.

We shall see!
so spring will see a new imac , a mac mini ,and a mba+ entry level mbp ? and then 3 months later mbp m2 pro ? hmmm

Curious to know what new color iPhone 13 will be introduced. Last year it was stunning, beautiful purple.

iPhone 13 was introduced 4 months ago. Colors are "red, starlight, midnight, blue, and pink."

We probably won't see updates to the M# Pro/Max until 2023. They would only be releasing the base M2 in the fall, would need some more months at least, to get to the Pro/Max.

Not to worry, while the M2 CPU cores will be incrementally faster than M1 cores, the overall performance of the M1 Pro/Max will still far outstrip the base M2.

Yes, but last year there was a new color announced in the spring (purple) for the 12 and 12 mini. In some of the past years, they added a new red version in the spring (iPhone 7/7 Plus and iPhone 8/8 Plus), but ever since red has been part of the lineup to begin with (starting with the XR), they've either skipped a new color (XR and 11) or introduced a new one in the case of last year.

I'm curious to see what will be changed/added to the Air 5, but I'm waiting for either the next iPad Pro or Mini 7 to upgrade my Air 4. Based on rumors, Air 5 might not be that exciting.

I'd consider an iPhone SE 3 if it had a bigger screen or redesign or both. I'd like to upgrade my XR fairly soon. It says my battery health is still 90%, but the battery life itself begs to differ. Plus I'd like a new cellular modem for better reception.

I wonder if the Apple Watch reception has improved? I'm on Series 4 and it's not the greatest. But maybe my reception in general just sucks where I live and I shouldn't blame my devices. Either way, I'd still consider an Apple Watch SE 2 if it has the redesign.

Given the M1 Pro/Max chips were just released, agree with others I think almost impossible that they'd announce the M2 chip in the Spring so soon.

Makes much more sense to round-out the high-end computer line-up (Mac Mini and 27" iMac / Pro) with the same M1 Pro/Max chips this Spring, and then bring out the M2 chip in the fall with the MBA / iPad Pros.

Question marks for me would be:
- iPad Air (assuming they'll keep the "A15" nomenclature for the Airs vs M2 chips for the Pros, I could see this being in the Spring too)
- Mac Pro (this could be in the Spring with the M1 Pro/Max Mac Mini / 27" iMac/Pro) or maybe WWDC given it would be like a "dual" / "quad" M1 Max.

I don't know why they don't match the iPhone and Mac colours. The iPhone Pros and MacBook Pros could have the same colour range, and so could the iPhone and iMacs.

How late they will be? Really? M1 in 2020, M1 Pro/Max in 2021 and then M2 in 2022 isn’t fast enough for you? Perhaps you need to adjust your expectations.

fall meaning around sep ,thats why i said a few months later.from sep to jan you have 3 months, dont you reckon it could be enough for a mbp release ? after all they arent for the same kind of consumers...

hmmm given we could see a 15-20% improvements over the m1,nay even more for little cores actually...it would set the m2 at around 1900 SC / 8800 MC ....not too far from m1 base, and even better in some aspects ...

im not worried tho,its not about perf only but the whole package to me ,memory, display, speakrers, fans ,etc

Hoping the 2022 iPad Pro will be part of the lineup. It usually is for these spring events. My 2018 IPP is getting a bit long in the tooth.
Yeah I’m really hoping we get a new iPad Pro at this event. We got them 2 years in a row (2020, 2021), so I am hopeful Apple will announce the new models at this Spring event.

I’m in the same boat. My 2018 iPP 11” is fine, but long in the tooth at this point. I’m really excited and ready for the next iPad Pro.

The 2020 iPP was more of a minor refresh to the 2018 iPP rather than an actual upgrade, though.

If Apple does a similar refresh this Spring, I expect just Mini-LED for 11" at best, with barely any performance improvements.

Will be ordering the Pro Mac Mini the second it's released to upgrade my 16/512 M1 Mini! I just need more RAM but the extra oomph won't hurt either!

I waited with baited breath….or perhaps my breath just smelled like bait…for them to announce the Mac Mini Pro at the fall event…money saved and ready. But to no avail. Was so disappointed. Fortunately my old PC is still waddling along with occasional hiccups. Thought it would be dead by now, but it’s waiting for the Mac Mini Pro so it can retire. May let it work part-time as a NAS ?

A Mac mini not released in the fall? Nah. Seeing as they didn't do M1 Pro/Max for MBA, MBP 13" or Mac mini last fall, I say they've put every Mac on a two year update cycle now. So jusst iMac Pro Pro/Max next and then just M2 MBA, MBP 13" and Mac mini in the fall and then just M2 iMac 24" the next spring and just M2 Pro/Max MBP 14"/16" that fall, and then just iMac Pro M2 Pro/Max, etc, etc.

Why would they put mid/high-level SoCs in entry-level products...?

And there will be a mid/high-level Mac mini with M1 Pro/Max SoCs, otherwise the current 2018 Intel (8th Gen, so old) Mac mini would not be available for sale any more...

All signs / rumors / whatever point towards M1 Pro/Max models this Spring, 27" iMac (Pro) & Mac mini (Pro)...

CUPERTINO, CA — (AP) January 21, 2024 — Apple Inc. announced their new line of upgraded Macs, MacBooks and iPads today with new features some said were “fabulous.”

For example, all keyboards will now have a dot over the “i” key. The bezels on iPads will be 0.001 mm less thick, and the new Macs will all allow users to choose from a new palette of colors that includes mustard, lime and chartruse.

Needless to say, these innovations sent Mac fans into a tizzy.

”I can’t wait to spend $2,500 for a new color on my iPad,” said one user, who asked that his name not be used.
