But this new 27-inch iMac, how much will it cost? The fact that maybe it will have a Mini-LED monitor worries me about the price.

I look forward to this new iMac, I am willing to an iMac 24 but with M2 or an iMac 27 with M1 Pro but a price in line with the 27 inch Intel.

I think it is a big problem to present a 27 inch for the price of the old Intel iMac Pro, there would be an impressive price gap between 24 and 27 inches.

What do you think?

I think it's likely that Apple will price the new 27" iMac (presumably with M1 Pro / Max) at a similar but slightly higher price point than the Intel model it's replacing.

Intel model is currently $1799 for 8gb/256gb, and $1999 for 8gb/512gb (and slightly higher clocked Intel CPU).

I could see them doing $1999 (like the 14" MBP base) with the same double-binned 8-core CPU/14-core GPU M1 Pro, w/ probably 16gb unified memory. Given the unified memory is part of the chip now, I'm guessing they'll use the same silicon as they're using in the MBPs and have 16gb memory be the base.

So you pay $200 more than outgoing Intel base model, but you get the bump to 16gb memory and (maybe) a mini-led pro motion screen, along with the new re-design. Actually now that I think through that, that's quite a good value if that's what it ends up being...

I don't think they'll price it like the old iMac Pro, which was really a stop-gap measure as the Mac Pro hadn't been updated in awhile.

$200 more would only cover the jump from 8GB RAM in the current 27" Intel iMac to a base 16GB RAM in a double-binned (8-core CPU/14-core GPU) M1 Pro model; adding in a 27" Mini LED ProMotion panel would increase the overall cost a good bit, maybe $400 as a low-ball estimate...?

I would put a base line 27" ASi iMac at about $2400, minimum...?

Yah, agree, when I was walking through it, that also seemed really good. I didn't realize all the base 27" iMacs come up with 8gb memory... Could easily see a new 27" iMac being more.

I do not dispute the quality of a Mini-LED monitor but for the costs I see it as a problem.

We'll see how it goes. I who have an iMac 27 "Late 2012 will definitely appreciate a new iMac 27" M1 Pro with Retina display to keep a low price.
