of course people will complain about the price. every device i buy could be cheaper if you are asking me.

will people still buy it if they feel the price is matching what they get? yes.

It's $600, that's a lot of money to a lot of people. They don't understand why it isn't the same price as the phones, despite much more advanced tech.

CR got a Reality Check from the response to their survey: 0% of the respondents had a "very big problem" with the iPad's heat. They have the journalistic integrity to report on what their users are actually saying in their survey. That's not great; I would expect nothing less from the magazine.

It's too bad they didn't have a "You are just trolling for publicity to even ask this silly question" option for the heating issues question on their survey. Now, that would have been great. :D

Perhaps that is because Flash IS supported -- through apps in the App Store. Look up machinarium. The description doesn't say it, but this is a Flash-based game. As Adobe noted in their blog last fall, it was [briefly] the #1 iPad app in the App Store. It's currently #152 on the list. :(

With Adobe's latest tools, any Flash developer can package their apps to be distributed to Android, Apple, and RIM app stores. MS will also have an app store for Windows 8; I'm sure Flash apps will be distributed the same way.

Few seem to be bothered that the iPad web browser is Flash-free. Large businesses have gotten the message to update to a Flash-free experience; I've seen several large commercial sites recently ditch their behemoth Flash apps.

Except there is a noticeable increase in heat. I've noticed it (we make iOS apps and have to test pretty often).

Is it an issue? Not even a little bit, which is why it got a 0%. I don't care that it is hotter sometimes, but it does get hotter.

I truely amazes me that anyone really cares if flash is supported or not.

Heh, not even Adobe cares any longer.

Just the Fandroids clinging to their meaningless talking point.

Mobile Flash is dead, people. Let's all try to move on.

I feel like every little problem an Apple product has is blown totally out of proportion. For instance the iPhone 4 antenna issue and the new iPad heat issue. I was hearing about this iPad heat issue everywhere like is was a HUGE problem, however after looking at the data, it seems like such a very very small amount of people. I, myself have not experienced any issue with the new iPad.

I agree with you, but it sure would have been nice if they compared the heat given off by a typical Dell or HP laptop under a similar load as well. An hour of my Dell on my diningroom table turns the varnish dark brown. Doing this would have put their findings in perspective.

The users who actually remembered that flash is STILL not supported...?!

Still amazes me that people continually forget this..

Uhm, Adobe deprecated Flash on mobile. As in no more Adobe resources will be used to maintain it.

Ever.

It amazes me that people still are pining for Flash.

Well, I think that number should be closer to 100% because the only people complaining are getting all OCD on their screens. :)

I am pretty satisfied, however I find the fact that they continue to charge $100 for an extra 16gb troubling.

Well, if you daily use a web site that's one of the largest news organisations worldwide, and that uses flash, it's more than a little annoying that it would be pointless to buy/use an iPad as it just doesn't support this almost universally accepted technology...

Flash might not make sense (not that I necessarily agree) for small devices with limited processing power but the iPad is not limited (an i5 is much more powerful than the Atom that my Netbook quite happily uses to display flash content..)

The new iPad doesn't make coffee, walk the dog, or hang up my coat, but I didn't buy it for those reasons either.

And how long does the battery last you on the Atom....?

when you're near the top, people will take a crack at you for having your shoes tied wrong.

the heat thing is a non-issue imho.

My new iPad has been fantastic. Great screen, fast. loving it.

The thing i love most about the great screen (other than it's looks fantastic) is that fact that I can now output H.264 files which work on BOTH the new ATV and the new iPad. I have an HD Panasonic Camcorder and I'll be burning to BR to have a physical copy, but being able to use my CompressHD card from within Compressor to output those HD files, is fantastic. Love that feature.

My solution to this has been very simple. I stoped going to their websites. They made their choice, and I made mine. It's that easy. It's no big deal. If they want to stop loosing viewers, they'll modify their choice.

This reminds me of Apple's switch to Asian manufacturing. Computer buyers chose to purchase Asian made computers over USA made. Apple chose to change to what the customers wanted. Also, RCA and Zenith were the leading TV manufacturers back in the 60's. Customers chose TVs made in Asia and RCA & Zenith held their ground and continued to manufacture only in the USA. Guess what happened to their market share. If you don't provide what the customer chooses, you don't stand a chance.

Worlds most stupid comment right here. I dont expect an ipad to make me a coffee but am i asking too much to view all web pages?

Perhaps the only "negative" of the new iPad cited by Consumer Reports is the observation that the Retina display can "magnify imperfections" in low-resolution web content, with the magazine suggesting that in some cases such content appears worse on the new iPad than on the lower-resolution iPad 2.

So the resolution is so good it show flaws in the web content.... and that is a negative on the iPad? By that same reasoning is it a negative on the jewels loop for showing the flaws in a diamond?

I know its dead (according to apple. Even tho i use it daily on the computer). Im just pointing out how stupid the comment was. All it means is ill buy a new macbook pro this year instead of just getting an ipad. So Apple gets even more money off me.

But it is the same basic price as the phone... it's just not offset by 2 year cellular contracts. That's one of the most amazing things about the ipad IMO.

I think his/her point was that people who buy an iPad don't expect it to support flash. Just like they don't expect it to make coffee. Sure there are people who buy it without doing basic research or asking questions...but by now...anyone who buys an iPad thinking it plays flash derserves the dissapointment for not doing basic research on the thing.

I'm sure the remaining 2% are all here on these forums, bitching and moaning in numerous threads about pink/yellow screens. All fully convinced there are no perfect iPad's out there. Wake up!! Just because you had a string of bad luck, doesn't mean diddly in the greater scheme of things that is the rest of Apple's global market!

Mobile flash is dead? I use it everyday on my touchpad...

It is dead. Just like Windows XP.

No growth, just a slow release from life support.

Only an idiot would still develop for brain-dead standards.

If so. Fair enough. In my view came across differently. In America and the uk flash is less important. For example in the uk u can get sky sports on the ipad i believe. But when you live in a country that doesnt have apps like that it can be a deal breaker. But if i ever did buy an ipad i could hardly complain then that it doesnt have flash as they never have or would.
