Lots of inexpensive, full-screen apps, no malware/viruses, touchscreen, and keyboard isn’t part of the unit and the unit can function alone without a keyboard?
Having a touchscreen doesn't mean it's easier or more efficient to do what you want to do. Scrolling through youtube on a trackpad is way easier than holding an ipad with two hands and trying to scroll and select with your thumbs.

Then that would be one of the times you’d have the keyboard attached to the iPad.

My point is you’ll have the choice with the iPad, but not with the laptop. And your laptop will feel slow a lot sooner than an iPad will.

That I'll agree with, my sons ipad mini is still running great and it's pretty old now. I've been impressed with the ipad's longevity. Also, the input choices with the ipad are nice, adding mouse and trackpad support are huge for me since I'm a heavy trackpad user. I still need to see how stable the base of the magic keyboard is, for me it needs to be sturdy enough to use on my lap at different angles, something I find totally lacking in the current keyboard for the ipad.

Been trying to pre-order through both Best Buy and AT&T yet their BS website doesn't show my 3-4 year old iPad Pro 10.5 as 'upgrade' eligible. Spent hours on hold over 3 different calls and they still haven't fixed it. Grrrrrr.

Ordering through Apple will not allow me to use AT&T Next.

Those who draw and sketch for a living will certainly love such a device- it’s going to be too expensive for enthusiasts in my opinion, hence the audience is too small.

Apple is about serving more customers needs regardless if the audience is very small and you might be interested if the 17” IPP is more usable than a laptop.

Apple in the first instance wants to make a profit and a large one at that. That either works with a big enough audience or by bringing the price up.

That’s likely why they haven’t made a niche device like a Surface Studio yet.

But again I’m happy to be proven wrong by Apple.
