Unless you mean miniLED you're going to be waiting a long old time! microLED is an 'eventually' technology, it's not on the table for any product releasing in the foreseeable future. No MicroLED = no buy. Oh well...
You’re going to have a long le wait. The education iPad will not have USB-C. Too fragile—and unnecessary, too.Really surprised they upped the base to 128GB and am really tempted by it, but money is tight because of the current circumstances.
I'll just wait for the baseline 10.2" iPad to get USB-C. Le sigh.
Yeah, it will certainly be great when it does go mainstream - all the benefits of OLED but without the compromises!Yeah, i knowAfter i saw Samsung's MicroLED TV live, i felt in love. Still few years away from it being "reasonably priced" though

Probably 2-3 generations away. 6GB will last for awhile, it’s not Android.I'll order one the moment they confirm 8GB of RAM in the base model. Or I'll have to wait for the next generation.
What, $100,000 isn’t reasonably priced?🤣Yeah, i knowAfter i saw Samsung's MicroLED TV live, i felt in love. Still few years away from it being "reasonably priced" though

They sold "a few". But now they can make them in 75-88 inch sizeWhat, $100,000 isn’t reasonably priced?🤣
It is a nice, and large, screen. Hopefully they’ll be able to make high density displays eventually.
PS Was the price ever confirmed? Surely Samsung must have sold at least one...
I like this for plane flights but... I still don't really see the advantage over a 14" MBP unless it's just cheaper. A traditional laptop is probably still more comfortable to use in bed and with a mouse.
Yeah I suspect that the real potential of the A12X has not yet been tapped thus no reason to update power for the sake of it. The GPU was updated mostly to power the AR that the LiDar is assisting in, but it wasn’t a substantial update either, which goes to show what a powerhouse the A12X really is.Hardly. The iPad 3 was underpowered from day zero. Not a problem with this iPad.
Will a future iPad have a faster SoC? Sure. 5G? No doubt. Mini-LED backlighting? Rumored.
As always, buy it if you need it now. Otherwise, you’ll get faster, better hardware if you wait for the next model—whether that’s 6 months or 3 years in the future. And the price might be lower, but could go up, who knows?
The A13 is not faster than the A12X or A12Z. Perhaps negligible for single core usage opening an app, but the A12X is actually quite a bit ahead of the A13 in multi core performance which arguably is what most who buy the Pro will be utilizing.A12Z Bionic? Is this slower than the A13 Bionic on the iPhone?
how does this makes sense that a smartphone has a faster chip than a "computer replacement" ?
Backlit keyboard ? I’m in. My biggest issue with my 12.9 iPad Pro - dark airplanes and doing a little work in bed, have to put the lights on.
Ummmm....why did we just wait almost a year and a half and it’s running basically the same CPU again? Same thing happened with the entry level iPad.
I wouldn’t care all that much, as my iPad Air 2’s 2014 CPU is mostly plenty fast, except Apple dumps support for CPUs only 5-6 years after they’re first introduced.
And where is the upgraded appleTV? I need a streaming device, and have issues with the current gen one, plus it’s going on 3 years old...
You have several options moving forward anyways as to how you want to spend your money. If you decide you want Trackpad capability you can add an external Magic Trackpad or you can wait for a sale on the new Magic Keyboard or you can just keep on keeping on with what you have. I don’t remember if you ever disclosed how much you travel with your iPad Pro as to whether it would ever make financial/productivity sense to update to the Magic Keyboard for yourself.
I’m sporting a 2017 12.9” iPad Pro with a Logitech Slim Combo, so a Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad will be my weapon of choice.
I agree that the price is too high...$279 and $299 would still have been too high, but would have made a little more sense. iPadOS 14 is going to need to hit it out of the park this year, IMHO.

I think everyone was expecting an A13X to be what went into this new iPad Pro. And then the iPhone 12 naturally comes with the A14 while an A14X went into the next iteration after the new one. Apple threw a slight curveball here and this actually bolsters Kuo’s claims of two iPad Pro models shipping this year.
No rumors of a new Air afaik, it’s not even a year old yet and I doubt it has the volume to get yearly upgrades. It currently has an A12, and with the brand new iPad Pros having an A12 variant (A12Z) I can’t imagine a new Air coming out soon with an A13.Is any new iPad Air model expected today or this week ?

Maybe this fall/winter if iPad Pro gets A14X as rumored, iPad Air will get A13 or even A14. That’s my best guess.
Looks like you are right. Luckily my old iPad is still chugging along fine. If it breaks tomorrow I'll happily order one of the new ones, but otherwise I'll try to make it to the next update.think you be waiting a few years still

Agree with everything you mention. I didn't even think about the Magic Trackpad, but I would much prefer that than the mouse I am using now. Does 13.4 support the Magic Trackpad I assume? I had thought cursor functionality was limited until this point. I don't travel a ton, so my iPad only moves from my home to the office. I will likely have a trackpad and keyboard set up on each desk and move freely between the two.
Hardly. The iPad 3 was underpowered from day zero. Not a problem with this iPad.

Agreed. With iPadOS the same feature-wise across the board and many iPads with 2 and 3GB of RAM, I assume the 4GB should be adequate through at least iPadOS 16/17.I still think a refurb 2018 Pro refurb from Apple will be the best deal in tech. You can get a 12.9 refurb for $699 and 11" for $549.
I see no reason the camera no one uses on an ipad or Lidar is worth $300. Its the same display etc. 2 extra gb or RAM sure. Will that make a huge difference? Not $300, 1/3 more, worth I doubt.
There is very little different between them really. The only question will be future-proofing of 4gb sine Ipads only release every 1.5 years; so thats iOS 14 and 15.
