Which countries are these 4th gens shipping to?

I live in Turkey, the website has these models listed with their prices but we cannot order yet. It says soon.

My ipad is 5 years old so for me this is a great upgrade. Not sure why people are so butthurt... who upgrades each iteration? the 2018 is still fast as hell. Mini led sounds nice but Id rather let them iron out any kinks that usually come with new tech.

Do they come bent out of the box (cellular models), or has Apple fixed the manufacturing process?

It’s just another iPad 3, excuse me „The new iPad“ situation really
I've seen that comparison a lot, but I don't agree. The problem with the iPad 3 is that it added a Retina display but didn't add sufficient additional power, and the device was kinda laggy and unsatisfactory as a result.

This is a minor upgrade, yes, but only for people who already own the 2018 pro. It will be terrific for people upgrading from an earlier model or buying their first iPad Pro, and that wasn't the case with iPad 3.

MKBHD alluded to the new iPads only having 4GB of RAM on all but the 1TB model again. I ran geekbench just test the performance of the A12X vs A12Z in MKBHD’s video and my A12X scores were slightly higher than his A12Z scores, but within the normal level of variance, so it appears there is zero difference in performance other than 1 extra core in the GPU (7 core in ipad Pro 2018 vs 8 core in iPad Pro 2020). His A12Z scores were 1108 single-core and 4324 multi-core scores, and I attached mine. I see no reason to upgrade from 2018 iPad Pro if you currently own one, and if it turns out there is only 6GB of RAM in the 1TB model again. This is probably the most minor update to the iPad Pro we’ve seen to date.

He never said that all

He said Apple wouldn’t confirm ram but it’s been proven all models have 6GB of ram

Except for size, definitely do not notice any speed difference from my 2008 11 Pro vs the 2020 12.9 I just received. Not worth the upgrade from 08 unless you are going up or down a size. Disappointing Apple - you can do a better upgrade than this!

Would you mind downloading geekbench 5 (it’s free) and letting us know the RAM? There appears to be some conflicting information regarding 4GB vs 6GB of RAM. And YouTuber MKBHD even suspects the 2020 Pros only have 4GB unless it’s the 1TB model.

He also said verbatim “which to me sounds like that don’t all have 6GB of RAM”. Go back and watch the video. It’s not a big deal I’m just curious.

Somebody who got theirs today which was 12.9 128Gb said his has 6GB of ram via geekbench

Waiting eagerly to see if they are still pre-bent out of the box.

My 12.9 3rd gen came with a slight bend. Just ignored it and moved on. It's not gotten any worse over it's lifespan.

The biggest issue aside from how ridiculous it is that it's bent in the first place is they aren't allowing warranty because of the bends.
Making an official statement saying it's a natural occurence from the manufacturing process. Then not warranting it... What a joke..

It is rather sad how Apple never talks about RAM on the iPads seeing as how that's always their biggest issue, at least for me and I doubt I'm unique. With every iPad I've had the CPU/GPU were always fine for my use-cases but I started hitting my head against the RAM ceiling sooner than anything else.

Over the years as I slowly moved away from the pc world and over to apple I find myself less focused on hardware specs and more the experience. The software is so optimized that I’m usually surprised when I do learn of the specs. So i can see why apple doesnt focus on this all the time and only when it really has an impact on user experience like Face Id or something.

Looks like they charge for that now, otherwise I would.

Yes, you are right and people do get too spec obsessed instead of focusing on their use cases.

However, I'm tired of having apps reloading when I multitask but I'm on disability so I'm stuck with my iPad Air 2 (which I bought because my iPad 2 didn't have enough memory to do tabbed web browsing), though I dream of a bigger screen and more RAM. Maybe next year I'll look into the used iPad Pro market, the old Pro 10.5 maybe.

Having said that, as a quadriplegic with limited hand function iPads are amazing and have improved my life.

I've been tracking the UPS truck. Mine should be here in about 10 minutes. My 2018 model has a cracked screen so I can have it replaced through Applecare. A friend recently switched to Apple products so he's been looking at iPads. I'll sell him that one to offset the cost of the 2020 version.

That's a perspective where value is placed predominantly on what is perceived to be a substantial performance boost beyond the obvious 10-15% graphics improvement in geekbunch. I'm still waiting to see what sustained peak load e.g. 4k render export is going to show where the new thermal design should allow peak performance for longer. Something that bench's don't make readily apparent e.g MacBook 15. vs MacBook 16 but real world testing has demonstrated.

if you need better audio hardware, superior microphones for on the go note taking, video conferencing etc..., need additional rear camera hardware upgrade, need the LIDAR for AR work then the new iPad is a huge upgrade. If you need a 30% faster upgrade then wait for the next release IMHO.
CPU increase is being reported at 0.5-0.9% faster and graphics at 8-9% from various reviews if you google it.

yes I’ve seen most of those reviews. However pretty much everybody is focused on geek bench, single and multi core. Nice, givesInsight to one aspect of performance but synthetic. Has anybody done comparisons under heavy load e.g 15 minute 4K lumafusion export? Suspect that’s where thermal improvements and tangible real world performance gains may be seen if apples claims of thermal performance improvements are to be believed. Even if the improvement was “only” 10% in graphics that could mean a 10 minute long Render export completed one minute earlier than iPad Pro 2018. Nothing to sniff at for certain workloads. Nevertheless I’ve a choice between saving a few dollars on 2018 or getting 2020 for a few hundred more. To me, even if performance difference was believable in CPU, other improvements, particularly in areas of sound and microphone hardware updates are pushing me towards the 2020. Never mind better multi tasking from 6gb vs 4gb. I’m good with this update.
