5G models will be out in a few months 😂😂

I doubt it, but hopefully you are right. Apple is talking of delaying their 5g iPhones, so if those get delayed, there is no way another iPad will be coming this year.

I've seen that comparison a lot, but I don't agree. The problem with the iPad 3 is that it added a Retina display but didn't add sufficient additional power, and the device was kinda laggy and unsatisfactory as a result.

This is a minor upgrade, yes, but only for people who already own the 2018 pro. It will be terrific for people upgrading from an earlier model or buying their first iPad Pro, and that wasn't the case with iPad 3.

It’s still a bad value. Even more terrific for older ipad owners will be the 2018 refurbs. There’s no reason to spend hundreds more on this one.

It is if you want more ram and double the amount of storage. 2018 users maybe shouldn’t but new owners sure

yes I’ve seen most of those reviews. However pretty much everybody is focused on geek bench, single and multi core. Nice, givesInsight to one aspect of performance but synthetic. Has anybody done comparisons under heavy load e.g 15 minute 4K lumafusion export? Suspect that’s where thermal improvements and tangible real world performance gains may be seen if apples claims of thermal performance improvements are to be believed. Even if the improvement was “only” 10% in graphics that could mean a 10 minute long Render export completed one minute earlier than iPad Pro 2018. Nothing to sniff at for certain workloads. Nevertheless I’ve a choice between saving a few dollars on 2018 or getting 2020 for a few hundred more. To me, even if performance difference was believable in CPU, other improvements, particularly in areas of sound and microphone hardware updates are pushing me towards the 2020. Never mind better multi tasking from 6gb vs 4gb. I’m good with this update.
Where has someone said the sound or speakers are improved?

K.

Here ya go
Thanks man! Now I feel like I’ve got the 2020. 😃

I don’t need huge amounts of storage, but 64GB wasn’t enough so I went with a 256GB 2018 refurb 12.9 a month ago. Had these been available, I’d have bought the 128GB 2020 instead but since the 2020 is such a very minor iterative update, I don’t feel like I’m missing much other than the 2GB of RAM.

Rumours are pointing there will be another iPad Pro models coming out. Look at the existing lineup. So many iPad models!

6-7 months is more than a few months...
I doubt will be that long since this iPad Pro is a flop with current situation around the world.

1) At least one rumor in Feb or early March already had the 5th gen coming out in 2021. For all we know it’ll be the usual 16 month upgrade next summer 🤷‍♂️

2) So many iPad models? If you want a 9”, there’s only one... no choice at all. If you want a 13”, same thing. Only one model. Only in the 10-11” range is there a choice: $300, $500 or $800. What’s your budget?

And it’s not even that complicated, because if you can afford $800, you’re probably not going to want or buy the $300 model. And if your budget is $300, you sure won’t be buying the $800 Pro.

So you’d typically be deciding between the $300 base and the $500 Air, or between $500 Air and the $800 Pro. Apple has a comparison tool on their website that makes it easy to see the difference.

3) isn’t it a little early to be calling it a flop? 🤣
