Keeping the same aspect and everything but just having the corners chopped off is going to be strange!

I’m confused. How does one have hatred toward an inanimate object that has no effect on their life should they choose to not buy it?
I can understand not caring that it’s not updated, but actively being glad is... odd.

A lot of people were anticipating the 10.5 screen to get bigger and show more content. There’s going to be a lot of disappointment as the latter seems to not be happening according to this article. But isn’t it possible the screen could get a little bigger but retain the same resolution with bigger pixels? People won’t like the reduced ppi though.

Well, the screen size isn't getting smaller, the case is, by virtue of reduced bezels. So, unless you have an iPad where the on-screen keyboard extends into the bezels (unlike any other on the planet), the size of the keyboard won't change at all.
Likely referring to the Smart Keyboard attachment? Will be of a reduced width/length because of smaller bezels

It’s called iphone XSMax. A mini ipad mini. Turn the screen to landscape and it’s wider than the ipad mini.
so you are suggesting that if i want small iPhone and iPad mini then I should buy iPhone 8 and iPhone Max because Apple can't cater to wider audiences?
I don't want phablet, I want small pocketable phone

I'm calling it right now. The lineup is going to be iPad, iPad X, iPad Pro and iPad Pro Max.

Nah. Apple's already regretting the X naming rabbit-hole on the iPhones. I know that they're kicking themselves for cornering themselves into calling a phone the "iPhone Xs Max."

No, it’s not. Close, but still not usable for the purposes of those who most use the mini, such as pilots and doctors, and those who use it like a kindle.

iPad mini is not that much bigger than the iPhone XS Max

There’s really no comparison. iPad mini has almost twice the screen area as the XS Max.

if they regret it...they wouldnt have gone with Xs and Xs max...but just iphone and iphone max

Apple’s not a company that likes to reverse its decisions on things, if you haven’t noticed. By going with the X name they’ve trapped themselves into sticking with it for a couple years at least.

Moreover the iPad mini displays 768x1024 points to the Max’s 414x896 so there’s a huge difference in amount of content displayed...

Mini is dead. Good riddance.
times up
rip
Mac mini
The 9.7” iPad was updated in March the last couple years, so there’s really no reason to think the mini would be updated on the same schedule as these iPad Pros.

RIP? It hasn’t been discontinued. The current mini is still sufficient for its purpose, mainly because of its 2GB RAM. It’s runs fine on iOS 12, there’s really no pressing reason for an update. I think it will be updated at some point, maybe next year.

Apple did ipad 1 2 3 and get to the Air 1 and air 2...now we have ipad pro...so they always can do anything they want

Yes but as you point out, they stick with the naming for at least 2 iterations each time. It's not like they released the iPad Air 1 and then immediately switched to Pro / iPad (nothing) after one iteration.

I have the last 10.5 and like it a lot. Just getting used to no button on my Xs. So I guess I can used to it on the next one.

However, there has to be something more compelling like the rumored improved chip. If the display is not better, then I'm likely to wait another year. Other consideration are the money I have invested in accessories for the current 10.5.

Ha, watch me throw caution to the wind once it is available ;) God help me! I'm a fanboy.

Good if resolution stays the same. It took an age for some apps to update after the introduction of the 10.5 - Kindle I'm looking at you!
