Tiny hands?

I find the current keyboard too cramped for extended touch typing as it is. Making it smaller can’t help.

Nope, quite large hands for a woman, actually. It requires a period of adjustment, because the keys are closer together, but if you make a point of adjusting, you'll develop muscle memory for it and it will be just fine, and you won't use your ability to touch type on a regular keyboard either (I use 4 different keyboards on the regular).

Oh they’ll be rounded, it’s obviously the new design language and very Ive. The closer the display gets to the rounded device edge (i.e. as the bezel width shrinks), the more incongruous it looks to have a sharp 90° corner on the display.

The 10.5 won’t fit in a physician’s lab coat, or above the yoke of a plane. It’s also a very large and expensive kindle.

All in all, the 10.5, or 9.7” for that matter, is no substitute for those vertical markets that rely on them. Apple is well aware, and i think we’ll see at least a CPU update of the mini 4; they can’t keep selling an A8 device forever.

Good point. Usually, you can just have intern residents to hold them for you and carry them everywhere haha. If you are a surgeon, surgical residents who are eager to scrub in on a kickass case will do everything for you researching the case, reading charts, holding your iPad for you is just a piece of cake for them.

these shouldn't be more expensive than the previous models. We aren't getting OLED, we aren't getting fancy edge to edge displays - the thinner but still there bezels should mean no need for folded displays etc.

The only additional cost is the FaceID which by now should be manageable.

The current 10.5" 256 GB is $799, there’s no reason to think FaceID will add $500. Apple added no FaceID premium when updating the 8/8 Plus to the XR.

All new design, A12X, FaceID... okay: 10.5" 64GB base model starting at $999. The 256 GB model will definitely be in the ~$1.200 ballpark.

Same screen, same battery, slightly smaller chassis, same size/cost CPU just a new updated version, no fancy rolled under screen. There is nothing that adds significant cost other than faceID, and that is also in the XR so the cost can’t be that high

They a;ready hiked the iPad Pro a lot, I hope they don’t do it again - and eve if they do, it won’t be by much.

You’re being ridiculous. A12X doesn’t increase the price, the Pro models always get the latest X version of the CPU. Sure FaceID replaces TouchID but it’s not going to add $350 to the price. Look at the previous upgrades, that’s the best indicator of the likely pricing.

When the 10.5 superseded the 9.7” Pro, the base price went from $599 to $649, but there were a ton of upgrades for that $50. Base storage increased from 32 to 64GB, RAM went from 2GB to 4GB, screen resolution increased from 1536x2048 to 1668x2224, they added ProMotion for a 120Hz refresh rate and upgraded the front camera.

The 12.9” 2nd gen cost exactly the same as the 1st gen at $799, even though storage increased from 32 to 64GB, the A9X was replaced with the A10X and other upgrades as well.

Instead of your $999/~1,200 pricing for the 64/256GB models, I expect $699/849. And $649/799—same as the current model—wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Wow! I'm seeing my current 10.5, 256GB, AT&T cellular service for $929.00 in U.S. Going to $1,200 for iPadX seems extreme even for this Apple fanboy! I guess I'll wait and see the true price and decide if this upgrade is worth it given my current iPad 10.5. Of course new keyboard and case add even more $$ to the upgrade cost equation..
