You and billion other people too. As soon as the A5X chip was spotted, most people started to realise the iPad 3 was probably going to be called either iPad2HD or iPad2S.

I didn't predict it would be called iPad2HD. I predicted that Apple would drop the 2 and simply called it iPad HD.

I also predicted that at least one iPad 2 model would continue on at a dramatically lower price point (perhaps, 16GB for $349 or even 8GB for $299).

An 8GB iPad 2 would be perfect for businesses that want to use it to run just a single app and don't require a lot of storage.

Please take the time to seriously answer this question:

Why are you posting on this forum? You seem to dislike everything that Apple does, or you simply try to troll and get people (like myself) annoyed.

Urg. Macrumors is where consistently posting negative opinion of the forum topic is claimed to be "voice of reason". In almost any other forum, that will be considered trolling. I mean, yes there can be negative or opposing opinions. But when someone is posting negative opinion on Apple with almost every single post, why are you even in this forum? Would that happen with Windows/Android/Samsung, Motorola, HTC (insert your favorite Android phone maker)/(insert your favorite music band)/(insert your favorite car maker) forum and not considered trolling?

More to the topic, when the exterior design is identical, Apple might be reluctant to put the successive numerical identifier in the name. At the same time, "HD" seems a bit awkward for an Apple product name for whatever reason.

I'm suggesting this years refresh may be called the iPhone HD instead of the iPhone 5 or 4GS or whatever. Pull the rug from under Samsung - no more OLED, LED, AMOLED, etc. Everyone understands the term HD but I bet most people don't have a clue what Retina Screen means. It's too techie for most people.

No more numbers - everything is just called HD from now on. Very simple - takes the debate away from who has the best screen to who has the best phone (UI, simplicity, speed, features, software).

Edit: The iPod Touch doesn't have a number it's just the iPod Touch so it's not without precedent.

But the problem is that OLED, LED, and AMOLED aren't mentioned in the names of the phones, but rather in the specs/hardware section. I don't think you could drive the debate away just by calling it the iPhone HD. And I personally don't ever see the screen debate going away. Resolution, contrast, colors, brightness, etc. and everything else that makes a phone screen look spectacular are always going to be compared, because people want to be awed by the detail and beauty of their screens, and don't want some low-res display.

There's got to be a reason a new Apple TV and the new iPad are being released at the same time, I'm guessing because of much tighter integration. How exciting! Can't wait.

Interesting to see how AAPL is plummeting last couple days. I'm guessing there's some buy-the-rumor, sell-the-news speculation going on, with the selling started early. Oh well, time to buy more.

It may displease the latecomer fanboys but...

This will rather be the iPad 2 HD, which is completely normal given that it is the same body and design, the same generation of processor with an update (A5X), the same generation of iOS (5.1), and pretty much everything else is the same with an update (better camera, hopefully front and back, better wireless with LTE, better screen that even if this is called Retina Display, is just...a screen with better resolution like there has always been).

Oh and maybe Siri but anybody who uses it on iPhone 4S know that it is just a toy gadget that you ditch a a few weeks after.

So what will be interesting is: What is Apple going to bring to make indispensable to upgrade to the new iPad, for exemple what kind of apps, that will work on the iPad 2HD and not the iPad 2...?

It will be called iPad HD

They will reserve the 3 for the iPad 3D

(just kidding :))

Now, it's worldwide famous enough to be adverted as "the brand new iPhone" or "the new iPad"... without referring to any number info.

Well... I was right :

Well it looks like MacRumors was wrong again here.

It's not iPad3 or iPadHD. It's just iPad.

Well... I was right :

This was not an easy one to get right. Fooled domain squatters and so-called insiders almost universally.

Apple pulled off a surprise like Jobs would have done. :apple:

It brings people to the site. Have you noticed that "reliable" info that ends up being wrong is always brushed under the rug once the Apple Presentation starts, everyone is so worried about specs and ordering that they forget about the "reliable" person who made the rumor.....and then next year the same thing happens.

Its all speculation, that's why I never really go off of rumors. It's hard, but I try. :D
