Because now Android with a range of sizes is eating iPhone sales.
Go into a Best Buy and look at all the Androids with larger screens, and some with smaller screens and lower prices. Apple needs to compete with that...
So the iPod Nano and Shuffle are failures in the same context?
Um, and how would apps written to fit the current screen size work on smaller and larger screens?
i dont know if it was posted yet but god please put out an iphone with a physical keyboard.
...how do these people still have jobs?
I would love some sort of flip/clamshell design. I've always hated the single flat slate phone design. I want a phone first not a PDA.
iPhone 4 dot pitch with iPhone 3G(s) resolution = smaller display and no new resolution for the devs to care about. No way in hell. They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.
99.999% likelihood of this being total nonsense.

I disagree. Apple doesn't need to compete with that at all. Android is not taking iPhone sales as long as Apple is selling them as fast as they can make them. In fact, the smaller droids are too small and the larger droids are too large..

IMHO, adding a physical keyboard will most likely add thickness to the iPhone device & that goes against what Apple are doing. I could be wrong but it seems that one of Apple's main design focus has been to get thinner & thinner with each new revision of the product line. Therefore, I think that Apple will "unfortunately" not be adding a physical keyboard to the iPhone design anytime in the near future.![]()
