I am sure though the iPhone5 will also be a HUGE success for Apple, if it is a design change with bigger screen, no doubt the biggest selling smartphone in history, just like the BigMac for hamburgers, at McDonald's. The iPhone is the BigMac of smartphones, kids, teens, parents and grandparents go to McDonald's, and buy iPhone's.

I prefer the lower selling, but much better organic buffalo burgers, like my Nexus

Best post ever. Lol.

Not note 2 indeed, but cumulative effect of GS3 plus Note 2, and dont forget that Cook knows iphone 5 screen size whereas we dont know it yet...
It is never good to witness your best competitor selling or taking orders for tens of million units when you intend to launch your baby on which 50% of company's profits rely on...

I don't understand how a company with over $100B in sales and over $100B in cash can only release one phone a year when Samsung can put out three world class phones (Nexus, S3, Note 2) in less than a year.

Apple: Well Jimmy, because F you that's why.

Apple said fall for ios6 so im thinking fall for new iPhone. However for some weird reason im thinking september instead of october. I really think they have alot of big stuff planned for 2012 so their not going to wait for oct for the iphone.

This.

Samsung will supposedly top 10 million Galaxy SIII's before the end of July and it's been out since May 29th. It will have taken 2 months to do that from May 29 to the end of July.

Apple sold 4 million iPhone 4S' on the first weekend. A weekend is two days. If they sold 4 million evry weekend, it would take last than 6 days to sell 10 million. Heck, even if they don't sell that many in two days anymore, it probably still would take less than 2 months to sell 10 million.

In real math, that would be a month to sell 10 million...which i doubt will happen. It will only come close if the new iPhone has a 4" screen, and then IMO it will sell very well. If it doesnt, it will sell worse than any of them.

Tough to have a busy opening day for the GS3 when it had three delays dates for officially coming out asside from a website. None of the stores had any till this past weekend. I finally got mine yesterday(@T-mobile) and the line wasnt out the door but the people in front of me got one, i got two and the people behind me got two and i got there when the store opened.

Its the iPhone 5. The fifth month is May. May spelled backwards is Yam. Yam's are traditionally eaten at Thanksgiving. "Thanksgiving" has 12 letters. There are 12 months in a year. 12 divided by 2(the # of iPhones with a glass back) is 6. 6+(iPhone)5= 11. The 11th month is OCTOBER. Not hard to figure out when u look at the obvious. Duh!

If Apple releases the next iPhone in late October, or sometime in November, there's a much greater chance it will be a better phone. If it's released earlier, the chances of bugs, and other faults or annoyances is far greater.

It could well be in August...
Rumors say Galaxy note 2 launch will be in september to disturb iPhone 5 a bit more.
GS3 is a blast, numbers could be better without these supply chain issues and Note 2 has good future I guess.
So if AAPL knows it will be tough to be compared to these (screen size ?), why not anticipating so that ppl would wait !

LMAO; Apple has never cared to follow other brands and release earlier than scheduled; if anything they sometimes take more time to release than what they expected.

New iPods will be announced at their usual September event and the new iPhone will be done separately a few weeks later in its own event.

because when you do something well and you do it right you don't need to do it a bunch of times. Yes Samsung has some great phones but they also have a load of crap phones on the market too.

Apple doesn't understand that not everybody wants a phone with the iPhones build and tiny screen size. Offering one with a larger sized screen would make a lot of sense. They make all types of sizes on MBAs, MBPs and iMacs, why only one size phone? Time to get with technology. However, iOS sucks. Its not like Android where its optimized to run on any size screen basically.

Lmao, EPIC! This makes so much sense!

Your logic is flawless except that October is the TENTH month, not the 11th.

It's definitely possible. Most likely because they don't want to see iPhone 4 users get tired of waiting and get a new phone a few months before launch thus being caught in a 2 year plan and no iPhone 5! Plus, I rather get it home then when I'm off in the summer rather than when I'm at college.

If Apple were worried about new android sales and new 2 year commitments to the new devices selling into the millions, then why not simply make an announcement of a forthcoming event with hints of a new iPhone?

What would be worse? Cannabalizing a portion of their 4s sales (ya know, the people that religiously pay attention to this stuff, not the normal everyday person who could care less about the latest and greatest and simply want an iPhone) Or letting this drag on and lose 10 million sales and 2 year commitments to Android?

Apple has nothing to worry about. The market is growing fast enough for two players to sell as many phones as they can make.

There's a term for this kind of market. I remember selling routers in the 90s. It's called Insatiable Demand and we have a couple of years left before the market is saturated and goes into normal growth mode.

I don't think the 5th iPhone will release this summer. It will hurt apple, iPhone4 owners are eligible for an upgrade and are ready to upgrade. I have been looking into new phones at the moment and can say that I know I'm not the only one looking to upgrade now.

Please don't believe any rumors that spew from the United Arab Emirates. False rumors were spewing from that country that Apple was releasing a redesigned phone that would have LTE capability and would be released last August. All of those rumors were completely false.

On second note , the new iPhone will not be released next month. For crying out loud iOS 6 is still in beta 2. The earliest that I see the latest iPhone being released would be in the end of September. Honestly I think that the new iPhone will be delayed until November. There are just too many large changes that are coming out in iOS 6 for the iPhone 4S and iPad 3 and other devices. Apple will not release iOS 6 or the latest iPhone until their new Maps app is up to their standards. Apple wants to destroy Google, they are in no rush to release an incomplete OS or phone. Especially since the iPhone 4S is still being released to new carriers. Also I believe that Apple will release a world iPhone (like the 4S) which will be compatible with multiple LTE frequencies. Qualcomm, if I am not mistaken, unvieled such technology just a few months ago

Not really ixodes. The iPhone 4S, which was a step up from the 4 had issues and it took longer for the iPhone 4s to be released after the 4. The iPhone 4 had issues, and so did the other iPhones. No matter when the iPhone 5 comes out, it too will have some minor issues that will be worked out later. Its just the nature of the beast. To go one step further, other smartphones have had some glitches at launch, so its my opinion that no matter how soon or how long the next release will be, stay tuned for some small issues to appear. ;) :(

I would guess Apple will release no later than last years iPhone4S October release. If it wasn't coming out at the typical late June / early July release, then I bet 99% same release window as the 4S, which was 2nd week of October.

I doubt they pick a 3rd totally different release time frame, like August or September.

It seems most believe the new phone will be out in October, but...

I wouldn't say September is out of the question! I think August is however.

News of a smaller iPad are gaining more attention now and I believe they are pointing at a September unveiling or atleast ramping up production.

If the iPad rumors are indeed true, maybe Apple is looking into a joint event where the new iPad and new iPhone are revealed together at the end of September with a release date early October.

Fall begins September 22. The last full week of September is the 24-28. I believe an event may fall somewhere in there, Monday or Tuesday.

Remember this...

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...uld_see_apple_intro_new_iphone_ipad_mini.html

"Analyst Brian White with Topeka Capital Markets is in Taipei this week, meeting with local contacts in the supply chain, and attending the 2012 Computex Show that is expected to see 120,000 visitors. While speaking with his supply chain sources, he picked up word that Apple is set to have an "exciting" September."

So. iPad Touch, The New iPhone & iOs6 announced late September, released early October. I'm calling it, lol. :D
