You need numbering for iPhones. And Pro makes no sense.

Moreover, next year you have a new OLED that is the size of the Plus model. So what do you call the iPhones next year?

iPhone Pro
iPhone Pro Plus? iPhone Plus Pro?

So incredibly terrible.

Or do you just call the 5.8" and 6.4" iPhones both: iPhone Pro?

You can't do that because iPhone HAS to have naming differentiation for consumer marketing purposes. It's the same reason there is an iPhone Plus right now.

The 5.8" and 6.4" will both be iPhone Pro models...and they'll introduce more high end feautures next year. Exactly like the iPad. The Plus model will be dropped eventually. It'll likely soldier on as a low cost large option for a couple years though.

I also think you're wrong about numbers. No one cares about the numbers. We want the latest iphone with the latest features, regardless of what it's called. Thinking they'll release an iPhone 7S and 8 in the same keynote is insane though. It'll never happen. If they keep the numbers we'll get iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Pro....but we won't know for a few weeks. We'll just have to wait and be surprised.

I get what you are saying. Numbering is fine early on but thinking down the line, having iPhone 15 will be absurd. I think they realized that with the iPad and will do something with the iPhone.

Maybe after this cycle, they will just have iPhone and iPhone Pro (which will replace the plus version).

Right. Imagine iPhone 22? Dumb. They need fresh marketing and the 10th anniversary is the time to do it. Maybe they'll switch to Series releases like Apple Watch going forward.

The number of people voting 8 and Pro is astonishing....

Really? I can't believe people actually think the all new, revolutionary, much-hyped iPhone...the first new phone in 3 years... is going to be called "iPhone Edition" and pitched as a high priced niche model while the rest of the market is supposed to be happy with a 4 year old design. You're all nuts and must live in an Apple bubble. They need to remain competitive. This is not how you accomplish that.

iPhone, iPhone Plus, and iPhone Pro. I think that works really well and goes with the reworking of their naming structure as of late.

I reckon just iPhone and iPhone Pro. You'll then choose either a 4.7" or 5.5" screen size for the iPhone.

For those who think we need a numbering system, Apple should differentiate models by year, like they do for Macs. So iPhone (2017), and iPhone Pro (2017).
Or instead, they could stick with the current numbering system for the standard iPhone, and name the OLED iPhone as iPhone Pro (1st gen).

I prefer the year system personally but I do believe they will have to leave the current numbering system soon and so this is the time to do that.

Not going to bother arguing anything besides telling you factually that Apple has no more 'premium' features to add to 'Pro' iPhones over 'non-pro' iPhones. You and other people don't seem to understand that his iPhone has INNUMERABLE incredibly complex and breaking edge technological features. There aren't any for next year. You'll see many many years of straight 's' style releases after this year (not counting the Plus-sized OLED next year).

For example, next year the design will be identical and they will add rear-facing infrared AR sensors. This will be he big feature next year, and that's it. Minor updates aside from that.

People just don't get it, this is the iPhone year. This is it. It's over here. Enjoy it.

then you probably don't use camera youtube Facebook snapchat FaceTime

I use the camera, YouTube and Facebook and I get more than 10 hours on my iPhone 7 Plus, it will depend on your screen brightness also Facebook is a battery drain if you leave it logged in the background which is Facebook itself and not the iPhone.

My battery usage for today so far it's now 10:46pm here in the U.K and I still have 35% battery life left! Depending on what time I go to bed tonight the usage part will be past 10 hours and the standby is currently at over 17 hours!

I have iPhone 7 plus I don't get hardly 5 hours who you deceiving only Lenovo p2 with 5000mah gets 10 hours
[doublepost=1502573174][/doublepost]

On average I get around 8 hours. I'm not interested in watching videos when I've seen my own usage stats for myself. Whether you believe me or not isn't important. What I know, is.

it will still not give 10 hours battery life
lol. On what basis?

It’ll most definitely last a full day.

but Lenovo p2 gives 10 hours at half price
Hahaha. It’s a ****ing Lenovo! Give me a break.

By the way, here’s my iPhone 7. Absolutely more than ample battery stats.

I'm at 9hr 48min, 32% and no charging since I took it off the power this morning (iPhone 7). If the 8 has better battery life than this it would be incredible.

People have been saying it'll be called "pro" since the iPhone 6 days
I know! And you know what's really funny? They'll try one more time for next year after this year passes due to the Plus-sized OLED coming next year. They'll say something like, 'well the Plus-sized OLED makes more sense for 'Pro' anyway'. Hopefully after 2018 they'll finally give it a rest though. It's never happening.

None in the vote options, sorry!

"iPhone 10th anniversary" is my vote.

To be fair though if the mock ups are to be taken as face value, it does not do Steve Jobs legacy any favours...I dont think he would sign off the pics I've seen so far, very poor show by apple and Jonny.

Let's wait until we see it. If there's one thing that is certain it's that concept artists have never gotten remotely close to the actual products software-wise.
