I dont think they will call it "edition". I think it will just be the iPhone 8.
What will they call it next year then? Edition S ? iPhone 9 ? Pro 2 ? lol
You're wrong.
Also, this line wouldn't continue anyway, the whole point is that it's a model to celebrate the 10th anniversary, it's not a new line for crying out loud. Next year would just be the 8 and 8 Plus.

You're spot on, I find it both annoying and funny how people think it will be called Pro. They are so sure of it but it makes no sense, I guess they think it makes a lot of sense because of other products, but the truth is they're wrong. As for people thinking it'll be called 8, that's just annoying.
That's what I love about it honestly. To me it simply shows me that so many people think so one-dimensionally and think in a way that is convenient, and simplistic. Thinking iPhone Pro is the easiest thinking. It's this idea that because Apple named the iPads Pro, and now iMac and of course MacBook, that the iPhone being named that just falls into line. The difference between them and Apple is that some people at Apple actually do 'think different'. Take the more difficult thinking path than the easy one that fits, but doesn't make any sense if you look any further than that.

Exactly they are rumoured (yea already) to be doing a bigger version next year at 6.4" display. This year will be a celebrated model for the 10th anniversary of the iPhone so it's possible at iPhone X but I personally would prefer the "Edition" naming, I do hope that next year they drop the 7s stuff and put all the technology from this phone into all the iPhones, there will be no supply constraints on the OLED screens by then.

...like I said, “iPhone X.” :D
It made sense, and while seemingly less Apple than ‘Edition’, it makes more sense since it signifies the anniversary, meaning other anniversary models don’t have to be called the ‘Edition 2’ or something, of course ‘X Edition’ would have worked but would’ve been a bit too much.

8 and Pro made no sense whatsoever. I feel like Apple felt they had to call the 7S models ‘8’ because of the stupid amount of articles and videos saying that they’ll release an 8. While they are talking about X, it is confusing to consumers and not releasing an ‘8’, while just a name, might cause them to think this year isn’t that significant.

The iPhone Pro title would be better once the iPhone gains Apple pencil support and 120 HZ Promotion...two features that seem to be missing with the iPhone X. Seems more probable for a possible 6 inch or more iphone being released next year.

No it wouldn't. You can draw properly on the iPad pro with the pencil, the iPhone is far too small. Pro in apples world means for doing something in a professional capacity. The laptops are more performant, have bigger screens or both. The iPad pro is faster, bigger screen, pro motion, apple pencil support all of which would be useful to a digital artist.

Hence I stated if the screen of the iPhone was 6 inches or more. It can be effective as a writing or drawing tool (most people with apple pencils can't even draw and use it for notetaking and PDF markups instead). Many people on iPhones have use cases for stylus functionality. There is a reason the Note 8 has a fanbase.

With Apple pencil capability, it would deserve the Pro title. In the professional world, it makes sense as well.

The 5.8" and 6.4" will both be iPhone Pro models...and they'll introduce more high end feautures next year. Exactly like the iPad. The Plus model will be dropped eventually. It'll likely soldier on as a low cost large option for a couple years though.

I also think you're wrong about numbers. No one cares about the numbers. We want the latest iphone with the latest features, regardless of what it's called. Thinking they'll release an iPhone 7S and 8 in the same keynote is insane though. It'll never happen. If they keep the numbers we'll get iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Pro....but we won't know for a few weeks. We'll just have to wait and be surprised.

Right. Imagine iPhone 22? Dumb. They need fresh marketing and the 10th anniversary is the time to do it. Maybe they'll switch to Series releases like Apple Watch going forward.

Really? I can't believe people actually think the all new, revolutionary, much-hyped iPhone...the first new phone in 3 years... is going to be called "iPhone Edition" and pitched as a high priced niche model while the rest of the market is supposed to be happy with a 4 year old design. You're all nuts and must live in an Apple bubble. They need to remain competitive. This is not how you accomplish that.
Well thanks for your compliments but I think you can see who was wrong here.
