Mine was an 82832XXXXXX, whatever that means.

I bought it last Wednesday and the only issue I have is the horrendus backup time, which is a firmware fix soon I bet!

I believe the first two numbers are the Factory Plant code (82), the the year of production 2008 (8), and the week of production 32 (32).

bought 08/08/08

chinese said this is a lucky day. no luck for me! my phone has more crack than lindsay lohan

bought mine on the 17th. no visible cracks/imperfections/defects/gaps so far. pretty sure firmware related but the ui is laggy at times.

manufactured during week 25 (middle of june).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

Week 29 white iPhone here. Other than suboptimal 3G reception/speed, the phone is otherwise solid. No cracks, dust or noticeable light leaks.

Here's to hoping that a future firmware update can resolve the 3G issues.

so are all the new phones that people are buying flawless. idk anyone here get a new one this week and have flaws. there are so many posts its hard to take in all the responses.

also if i was to return my phone for a replacement would i get a refurb or a new one in the box since its after 30 days.

obviously i would say something was wrong with it and it froze alot?

serial number = 88833......

so week 33, right?

i just got it today, its perfect. i live in the boonies outside of memphis, so my signal will suck regardless. but once i get out of my neighborhood, i have 4-5 bars of 3G

also, it came with 2.0.1 already installed. not sure if others did

Bought my phone last Friday. Week 32 build. One dead pixel. It was annoying me so I called and they are sending a new one out.

got a black one last week (week 33 build) and it had over 5 stuck pixels. exchanged it today (another week 33 build) and no issues so far.

Bought 8/17. Week 33. White.

Cracks near the volume rocker out of the box. Apps crashing. First dropped call today. SMS alerts randomly stop working. Battery lasts 7 hours before it's < 20%.

No dust or light leak. 3G reception is great... and fast. In Orlando.

bought an iphone yesterday, 2 dead pixels, (minor) light leak, uneven screen
btw it is a week 32, I am planning to exchange it at an Apple Store

The cracks is bad news. Apparently they still haven't fixed it. The other stuff seems software, plus the battery needs some conditioning (and it depends on usage). However, the latter three sound promising. No dust, no light leak and good 3G reception.

I'm still waiting for my replacement and I hope it's a new one. They do seem to have less issues :).

Ok, mine is a week 30.

It's my second one because my first one had a problem on AT&T's end, but I (and the "genius" at the apple store) didn't realize that until they had replaced my original phone purchased in mid-July.

I haven't had any cracks but I have noticed a couple of differences. Mainly, I have 1 spec of dust under the screen (not something I will lose sleep over) and the phone gets hot during extended 3G usage. That is more annoying because I think it costs me battery life. I'm lucky to get over 5 hours of 3G usage.

Please also state the week numbers. That will make it easier to compare. It's the fourth and fifth number of the serial.

Furthermore, Apple seems really serious on updates. Somebody has already bought a week 34 iPhone containing the 2.0.2 update.

I mentioned earlier that I had a week 30 with dust under the screen. I picked up a replacement yesterday, which was a week 32, and that also had dust under the screen in addition to a broken silence switch. Needless to say I will be taking it back again. :(

Yesterday I got my replacement week 33 white iPhone and it's excellent. The overal buildquality is much much better. The screen is perfectly aligned, no dust between screen and bezel, no cracks, and most important switching and holding on to 3G is working properly now (could also be 2.0.2).

I still have some really minor software problems (like keyboard lag and Safari crashing). But I'm sure Apple will fix them.

I just got a white 16gb on Friday and everything seems perfect. Build week 52 No light leakage, Bad pixels, or build problems. However I'm scared about my ring/silent switch. When I flip it back to silence my phone, it wiggles in place alot. Any ideas on what to do? I'm hesiant to exchange because everything else is perfect. : /

My suggestion: leave it alone. If it falls out during the year, ask for a new one. But that doesn't mean wiggle it around just to see if it'll fall out; just wait a bit and see if anything happens.

Also, back-from-the-dead-much?

How do we win!!?!?!? :p
