Yeah I remember the exactly same spiel after the iPhone 2020, new power efficient processor means improved battery life. Didn’t work that way in real life. Battery life was the worst of all current iPhones. And the constant charging means battery health was at 80% in a year or less. It needs more mah not and improved processor
Yup. Not getting lured by the upgrades this time.

There’s just not enough mAhs to get the kind of screen-on times that the average person needs in 2022.

A15 might get better numbers for processing and graphics. But the an iPhone 11 with A13 will still get you a much bigger display with much more on-screen time.

SEs have too many compromises. But specifically battery life is too bad to make me care about more RAM and A15.

SE should start at $299, not $399 or $429, and those who have lived with its abysmal battery life will agree.

doesn’t matter if one buys SE XR 11 12
Etc
They still stay in the ecosystem and give $ to apple.
Suppose you decide to try iPhone and want SE because $400, well the non budget minded person might consider an extra $150-250 for a much much better phone. Win for apple, and if not they still buy the SE. which isn’t a dud phone. Will be super fast and get updates plus battery replacement service for years. Design is old sure, but I have folks using iPhone 7&8 in my house hold. This would be a major upgrade, only if it wasn’t $570 tho
I’m surprised the 12 mini went for sale cheaper than this phone in my country

I would definitely upgrade my SE2020 for this IF it had 4GB RAM. So, no upgrade for me.
It *does* have 4GB of RAM, confirmed by an article here: https://www.macrumors.com/2022/03/09/iphone-se-3-has-4gb-ram/

Apple just didn't say anything about it. Not sure why, as saying "and we upped the memory 33%" would take 4 seconds but Apple be Applein' I guess, idk...

So you're going to get it now? ?

This, 100%.

They couldn't fit a physically larger batter in the SE. I understand the A15 is more efficient, but you still can't get past how tiny this battery is. Mid-range Android phones have large batteries with amazing battery life, and decent real world performance. This will be a terrible experience from anyone switching.
I doubt that is true (that they couldn't physically fit a larger battery in the SE). As some have pointed out, the 13 mini is *smaller* physically than the SE, and has more radios/tech, and still has a 33% physically larger battery. I would guess that it's just Apple trying not to cannibalize sales from their higher end products. Kinda sucks because I'd happily pay an extra hundred dollars for a bigger battery and I'm not interested in the faceID/notch phones, but we don't always get everything we want in life I guess.

Edit: For some data points, the Iphone SE is 5.45 inches tall and 2.65 inches wide. The 13 mini is 5.18 inches tall and 2.53 inches wide. So the SE is 0.27 inches taller and 0.12 inches wider than the iphone 13 mini. So the SE should have *plenty* of room for an equally sized battery to the 13 mini. To be fair, the mini is 0.01 inches thicker, however (0.30 inches on the 13 vs 0.29 inches on the SE).

Apple could obviously make the SE 0.01 inches thicker and put in the same battery, or use the extra height and width, or add 25% or so to the battery instead of fully matching the ~33% increase but they chose not to. Just like only offering imessage on apple products and many other decisions they make. It's not a technical issue but a business choice. They want the flagship models to be a certain amount "superior" to the budget models, if they gave the budget build too much, it would hurt them overall.

speaking from 6s owner, Was very keen to upgrade to SE3 until apple add touch ID and type C.
Based on the SE3 release, I rather replace my battery and wait further.

ps: really wish apple added 120hz to iPhone mini then they won't have problem selling them and keep normal 13 with 60hz. That would be a good balance don't you guys think?
You still use a 6S? I had one last year as a work phone, and it was sooooo slow, it drove me nuts.

Don’t buy the Mini. This late in the season, I would just wait it out and to see what Apple releases in September. I’m telling you, ‘buyers remorse’ is a very real thing. Unless you need to upgrade now, I certainly wouldn’t invest in the Mini.
Good to know. But on the flipside I'm not a fan of large phones. If I wait too long they'll likely discontinue the model I like lol.

Hmm. I'm due a new phone. Do I pay NZ$800 for the SE or NZ$1250 for the 13 Mini?
Rumor has it that the 13 mini is the last of the iPhone mini. As RP said, it would be prudent to wait and see what happens later this year, just to be on the safe side. The mini is a great phone. If you want the smaller phone, get it right before the new announcement.
