As the wait continues for Apple's long-rumored, fourth-generation iPhone SE, French electronics retailer Boulanger has prematurely published a product listing for a "new" model of the iPhone SE. The placeholder page says the device is "coming soon," but it offers no further information, and the price shown is obviously not real.

The listing was spotted by a reader of the French technology news website Numerama. It is unclear if Boulanger has received a heads up from Apple that a new iPhone SE is coming, or if the placeholder page was created in light of rumors.

While the page does not reveal anything specific, it is yet another sign that a new iPhone SE is seemingly coming soon. Unfortunately, it seems like the rumored timeframe has shifted slightly. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the new iPhone SE was "coming this week," but he has since said it "should be announced by next week."

Whenever the new iPhone SE is finally announced, it is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, and the first Apple-designed 5G modem. With a rumored A18 chip, along with a rumored 8GB of RAM, the device is also expected to support Apple Intelligence.

Apple has yet to schedule an event in 2025, so the new iPhone SE will likely be announced in a press release published on the Apple Newsroom website.

I feel like these may become more popular than the other iPhones.
Wonder how much stock there will be. Might sell out?

I am not a a professor of linguistics, but would "by next week" not mean the same as "this week"?

Not necessarily. If you have a weekly meeting on Wednesdays and say “I’ll have the report ready by next week”, that can mean you’ll have it ready for the next meeting next Wednesday.

I’m pretty sure that Gurman means “next week if not already this week” by that.

Yes, but that refers to a specific point in the week. Gurman does not. He means the end of next week or sometime next week. To me, by does not mean that, but maybe I have had a bad education

Because “by next week” could mean this week OR next week. As long as it happens any time before the week after next, it is by next week.
Perhaps it is a US thing. Same as you use "change up" and "change out" when all you mean is "change" ;)

No idea what you’re talking about with the change analogy, but it sounds to me like you were taught that “by” is synonymous with “before.”

Definition 3b: not later than
Example: be there by 2 p.m.

So “by next week” would include next week, but would not include any time after next week.

Ok. But in my experience people usually would say by the end of next week to be clear. Anyway, variety is the spice of life :)

All I need to know at this point, to consider upgrading my 2020 SE is who much is it going to cost. Apple really screwed the pooch when they priced the VisionPro at $3,499. It would have been better for sales if they'd dropped some features and sold it for $1,999. It's too late for this new SE, since it's already in production, but Apple should heed that advice going forward. SE buyers don't want to pay for features they don't need, and probably won't ever use.
